chamber 4 spoilers: [sp]it'd be nice if the darkened rooms in the Hollow were light enough to be able to discern elite enemies inside of it. you'd usually be able to tell where things are due to their red eyes but coming in from a northern door means you can only vaguely make out the blackened shapes of the regular dead zombie kin things. The reddened ones just blend in perfectly, and I can only assume they're an "elite" version.[/sp]

I really like the game, but the progression is so ungodly slow. In the Binding of Isaac, you get powerups like crazy for how much time you spend. It's more difficult, but you feel like youre doing a lot more. Here, you can go down three floors and have an okay weapon with an okay powerup.
There's so much potential for progression, but its never utilized like it could be.
I beat the 5th chamber boss yesterday. [sp] Even had 3 out of 4 bullet parts. Just need the Primer. [/sp]
The boss I still have the most trouble with is the Treadnaught. If I have a movement speed item it's a bit better but those adds get me at least once a fight.

It's probably because the boss throws a lot of tiny people at you that shoot at an offset of the direction you're going in, so you either roll through it to get hit by whatever the tank throws at you or you go in the other direction to to do the same thing

The game really isn't doing a lot in the way of making you feel strong, since your weapons get comparatively weaker as the floors go on. I actually like it because it makes things harders, but I can see where complainers are coming from when they want scaling entirely removed, even I have to admit that it gets a bit excessive when cursed enemies have at least 250% HP and I'm trying to kill a cursed agonizer with my stock pistol.
I really like the bosses in this game, none of them are unfair, some of them are cruel. The dragun should be harder though.

My issue is that the game seems like it's based around getting crazy guns and matching them up with crazy mutators so you get wild effects, but in reality you're using your stock pistol 90% of the time.
Love the pixel artwork and the gameplay, but it needs a serious re-tweak of progression.
If it makes you feel better the devs have acknowledged the complaint on damage scaling and have confirmed they are going to do something about it.
Apparently the difficulty testing was left up to streamers who marathon this kinda thing like Cobalt and Northernlion who are career Isaac players so that's why it's built for that kinda stuff.
Vulcan Raven reference?
Yep. It's hard not to find a reference to something in this game from Futurama's Wind-Up Rifle to Earthworm Jim's Blaster.
One of my favourite games of all time now. Dear god this is too much fun.
I hope they fix scaling and make the first floor a better experience, and I hope they improve the couch coop aspect of it. It just needs a bit of work.
The biggest issues I have with this game is that there are far too few rooms (I see the same rooms on every single run), and a bunch of rooms need to be entirely rebalanced.
I just totally wrecked the fourth floor boss, and then died afterwards because I didn't realize I was on fire.
I'm going to lie down now.
This game is fuckin hard
Mobs scaling hp is such a bullshit
According to the devs there's a hidden "skill" stat that's supposed to reward you for clearing a bunch of rooms without getting hit- more frequent ammo drops, hearts/shields etc.
A lot of runs I just use my best guns without giving a damn about ammo and I get a ton of refill crates- like 3-4 every floor. Then I look to see how other people are doing and I see "I'm getting hit a lot there's not a lot of ammo or health pick ups"
I kinda wonder why they thought this was a good idea to be more punishing to those struggling.

Yeah... it seems like they wanted to cater to the hardcore players, without realizing that they've basically made the learning curve absurdly steep.
the ammoconda can suck my cock.
the ammoconda can suck my cock.
the ammoconda is easy
it's the gorgun that's a fucking bitch.
would this game be hard with a thinkpad nipple?
the ammoconda is easy

Really? I find the Gorgun's attacks much easier to dodge. The Ammoconda is more chaotic.
This game is fun, but does does it really need to have a mini cutscene for everything?
Bosses I can kinda' understand (and given that they're skippable it's not too big a deal), but stuff like opening the Ammonomicon or waiting for a cross hair to line up over my already dead body just gets annoying.
If I died, I want to get straight back into the action as quickly as possible. If I opened a book, odds are I want to look at the things inside of it, not how flashy you can make opening the book.
I will say that the game is really damn fun though. Haven't played anything else since it came out. It just needs a few adjustments and it would be perfect in my eyes.

god I hope they're not going to let the "professional" players dictate how the game gets balanced. Once the Isaac devs started catering things to streamers and youtubers, it became so much less fun for general players. Like nerfing items that were "too good" but not buffing items that are too bad.
I still haven't even bought this game myself, since Dark Souls 3 is like 3 days away now. I know it'd go neglected in my library for weeks or months. But it looks great and I'll be especially glad to play it if they prove they know what they're doing with future updates.

My ammoconda don't want none unless you got guns, hon.
I can't switch back to keyboard and mouse without missing the movement control of an analogue stick and I can't go back to controller without missing the precise aiming of a mouse.

Doesn't the steam controller's trackpad work like a mouse?

I've been using only the Pilot.
His starting gun sucks balls, but the extra item slot and passive are really good. The lockpick is hit or miss but it's better than just destroying a chest.
does anyone have a gif of the loading screen graphic? i want to use it as an avatar but i can't capture it myself because the game loads too quickly
The only boss I feel is just unfair in every aspect right now is Treadnaught. He's got no pattern to follow and is just a random spray of bullets that's impossible to predict/react to. I can make it to the Forge if he doesn't show up but the second he does my run is probably over unless I'm overpowered.
They REALLY fucked up with him.
i killed one of the two giant bullet bros then died
