My char on Nost is of the same name as my forum account, and on horde side.

Its telling when 90% of the recent discussion on this thread is about a private server

Retail is stagnant from what I understand. The last content patch was very dry.
Played on Nostalrius a bit due to all the hype I've been seeing on both FP and IRC channels.
Good stuff. Seems pretty bugfree.
Only negatives I've seen so far
- Very low draw distance (I guess to deal with player loads)
- Custom Warden modules (ugh, custom code running on my pc)

I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
Then again the one thing Classic WoW has over current wow for everyone is one thing.
Free to Play. Not the starter edition up to level 20 either, it's genuine free to play and do anything without paying a dime.
Honestly I can take my time with Vanilla since I don't have to worry about Blizz's Subscriptions and Game time over my head.

Man, that one is so weird to me, i knew i had a fucking aweful PC and Internet back in the day (like, i'd get 8fps in overworld) so it seems... "normal" to me. Was it this apparent back then on high-end systems?
I am crucialsebbi (Horde, troll mage, level 5) on nostalrius

Hmm, maybe draw distance is the wrong word. I meant more in the likes of players popping up only when you are close to them. That's the server throttling back chunk sizes as much as possible to reduce load.
I have a horde alt on Nostralius. Undead Warlock named Happymartin.
Trying out Nostalrius, it's like a completely different game. Weapon skills, having to earn and and pay for your new spells. It makes everything more rewarding. Everyone seems to be more friendly and helpful to boot. Being able to have spells from three different specializations to customize your selection is far more enjoyable then "This is what you get, deal with it." on Retail.
My character is Rodrik, a human warlock.
Now you people are seeing the light. Bathe in its radiance. The radiance of ye golden days of our youth.
I too have started at Nostralius as a Undead Rogue. We should make a chart for character names + FP usernames for ease of use.

I dunno, maybe I have to wait 5 days for the radiance to fucking spawn.
But at least without Blizz's overbearing message of "YOU'RE RUNNING OUT OF GAME TIME", I can have the patience to try.
Maybe this could be a interesting experiment to see if WoW could one day go FTP without any major problems?
Take your time there's no rush. On servers like ED the population was pretty low for the people under 60 which meant that you could get the most out of the game while being 60. With the bigger population that means more people will do BGs in the various brackets, more people will do group quests, and more people will be out there to do dungeons. Just relax.

I can do that. Problem back then was Blizz wanted me to pay $15 a month in order to do that.
Coming back to this lark. Leveling a mage with a friend (that refer a friend xp is ridiculous). What do you think.. Should I focus mage, play my warlock or my disc priest? I'm torn. Wpvp and Pvp Focused
Warlock is probably your best best for PVP. Disc priest is a joke and mage isn't in a great spot at the moment.
If you play warlock you're going to be cursing up a storm when mages that have been playing since launch fuck you over with their iceblock, will of the foresaken, and counterspell, or when UD rogues come to gank you. I suggest mage because you cannot be beaten if you're good enough.
I'm sorry guys, I tried but after numerous quests being hounded by other players all day, I just cannot get into Classic.
It's too slow for me, and I can't complete a single quest because the item spawns slowly and/or players are surrounding the item/mob(s).
I'm very very sorry, I really tried to get into it, I did. But I just prefer current WoW.
Speaking of which, I've decided on reactivating my WoW account over paying $50-$60 for ESO.
Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. This is the most active I've seen the thread since the last major content release in retail.
Vanilla is such a great change of pace; similarly to games like Dark Souls, the world feels more mysterious and dangerous when two NPCs can wreck you in seconds if you stray into a wrong area.

Level 13 right now. I feel so accomplished. :v:
Saw my first Alliance players in Ratchet.
You only played a day and probably didn't leave the starting area where things are always going to be bad especially if you're playing UD.
Don't apologize to us but to yourself for denying yourself of the true WoW experience rather than soccer moms online.
Grouped up with 4 other Dwarves and together we completely obliterated all Troggs in Gol'Bolar Quarry.

It's okay, I didn't really like it for the same reasons, mostly the slow combat.
No need to apologize so much, different strokes for different folks.
I have some issues with the disconnects and lag and monsters spawning in the wrong places and some other minor things. But the biggest problem for me is the fact that it is a private server, I'm afraid to spend too much time on it out of fear of the possibility of it getting shut down the future.
But yeah apart from that I love the gameplay and the social interaction with other players.
I'm ok if I wake up one day and it's gone forever.
I had fun, I got to experience it, and I still have my screenshots [sp]for novel material[/sp]
I'm hoping I can run through SFK before shit goes down. It was my favorite 5 man before the Cata remake.
I miss old SFK so much. The old Scarlet Monastery dungeons too.
I tried nost out with friends
they're level 15 or something and I started late, I'm level 5 in Razor Hill with fucking level 7-9 quests
i love my life
