Super excited to have more things to do in the lobby!
is the bug fixing update next?
Oh, hello there TUrbos. We didn’t see you come in. We know everyone’s been asking for more optimizations. So, we’ve answered your call. We’ve added an actual buttload of optimizations in this update, just for you! Everyone should see better performance in general, because we just love you guys that much.
This update may look small, but it’s actually incredibly complicated. Casino is coming up soon, and we’re still hoping to have it out this month. This update needed to come out before we do the Casino update.
You can watch our recent stream on Twitch to see the progress we've made with the Casino here:
https://www.twitch.tv/pixeltailgames/v/81983274
Major Changes:
Minigolf: Fixed host FPS issue where the ball could not be putted sometimes
Developer notes: Foohy rewrote a lot of the golf ball code to make this system work a lot better. This change required us to mess with the ball physics a bit. There's still a few minor issues to work out with Minigolf in general and this is a step towards addressing them.
Miscellaneous Changes:
You can now block other player's chat messages
[t]http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/11783817/366322de66165f4d4a590378dccab6b60bddfc85.png[/t]
http://steamcommunity.com/games/394690/announcements/detail/959650329641060828
Developer notes: When admins are not available, players can easily annoy other players. The blocking feature allows you to completely cut off communication with another player. You can block a player by clicking on their profile and hitting "Block Chat and Voice". As a bonus, the blocking system will remember who you blocked.
Optimizations:
Optimized day/night sky (increased FPS by up to ~30 in some cases)
Lighting and shadows are now cheaper
Reduced draw distance of players and hats
Added lots of LODs
Reduced draw calls
Developer notes: Not all players will see the same big benefits these optimizations bring to our game. Those on older PC’s will notice a much larger change than those on newer PC’s. More work is still to be done for lighting specifically. The reduction of draw calls and introduction of more LOD’s is also more of a constant process as the game develops. These changes affect the Plaza and Condo performance.
Implemented level streaming for Plaza
Developer notes: Level streaming is a way to load/unload pieces of the map in real time. This is not perfect yet, but it helps Plaza performance quite a lot. Phase 2 of level streaming is going to come later, but for now, this will help immensely with performance. Noclipping isn't supported with level streaming at the moment.
Thanks for your support and for waiting patiently!

Really thinking of buying this game, is it worth it? Are there any gamebreaking bugs or anything I should know about before I buy?
Really thinking of buying this game, is it worth it? Are there any gamebreaking bugs or anything I should know about before I buy?
Nothing strictly game breaking, and what's in the game is very fun to play but the game is quite limited still.
I'm tempted to tell you not to buy until it's further along development, to avoid getting you burned out on the existing content. (led to believe that that's why the team didn't put TU on the summer sales, too)

Why should it be up to them to decide that, though? If someone wants to play the game now then there's still nothing stopping them, if the developers were really that bothered about how much someone players of it they wouldn't have the game available at all. Not putting it on sale for that reason just feels like it's being too controlling and doesn't make much sense. More people would have got it if it had gone on sale, but so what?
I didn't really get burned out, I just decided to wait and return. The thing about this game is that I can foresee myself playing it for 100s of hours once they've got some of the content I really enjoy which they are working on as of right meow.
From the looks of it Trivia is finished or at least very near being finished.

I don't have this yet although I'm interested, but does anyone think it might not be successful in the long run? Looking at the Steam reviews it seems there are quite a few complaints about it, mainly it seems there's an extremely low player count already and updates are very slow. All the lobbies having separate severs and letting players go straight to the gamemodes seems like a really bad idea as well.
GMT seemed like it was a success because it was a unique, free gamemode in an already extremely popular game and it incorporated lots of elements from other games and media, so pretty much all the main factors that contributed to GMT's success are gone with this. I'll probably get it eventually, just wondering what other people think at the moment.
Really, thinking about it, it should have been pretty clear from the start that TU probably isn't going to work and is a bad idea when compared to GMT. I can't think of anything like it that has managed to maintain a playerbase for a long period of time and the vast majority of multiplayer games on Steam (That aren't popular right away) fail quite fast. The idea for it is fine but it's taken away all the advantages of GMT and replaced them with other benefits that don't necessarily matter as much - better graphics? More polished? That sort of thing isn't going to help attract players much, especially when you stick a £12 price on it.
I think in the long run, frequent updates make people come back and play. Honestly, I understand why they did what they did with how they released their game. They need money to eat and live.
I think this game will thrive with more gamemodes and new features added. There's such a huge medium of streamers and youtubers these days to hype their audiences up for a game. In the end even without their help, there will always be a very, very tight knit group of players who will continue to play regardless and some of us are just waiting for our favorite features to come online.

IMO the low player count is due to the lack of activities. As for steam reviews, the game is in alpha so there is plenty of bugs/issues.
There are very few developers I trust completely, Mac and his team is one of them. They want to make this game great and they would never leave it to rot.
To be honest, big streamers have uttered praise for minigolf saying its' better than other known stream friendly minigofl games like Gold With Friends. Meaning, publicity isn't going to be a problem. It's the fact that we're waiting for core features.
The whole idea that the game is dead because the dev team has to develop a proper feature like casino, which by the way is hard to do considering all the security concerns to not break the game has to be taken care of. It takes a while there's only 24 hours in a day. I know it seems dire right now, but I do not for a second believe this will be an issue once more features are out.
I mean the core elements of the lobby is being added in the next patch with Trivia (Where I will stay all day) and Casino (for the gamblers we know were a big part of GMT)
Mac and his team during the entirety of GMT has never disappointed me. They've added what people has requested and they've generally listened to their community.
To be honest, a little downtime for features that are core elements to make the lobby worth being in is worth it.
Yeh, player count is only so low because there's fuck-all to do after you have exhausted minigolf, ballrace, and virus. People are just waiting on new updates to play.
I think that this game will do really well if they don't fuck up Workshop support. They have to make sure players can submit custom levels for game worlds and create custom content for lobbies and condos. With that, the game will have greater longevity.

Casino Update (0.1.2.0)
We decided that due to the delays, we'd include Texas Hold'em, a popular Poker casino game in the initial release of Casino. It was originally planned to come out afterwards, but not anymore. Along with that, Video Poker will be in the update as well (it was originally planned to come out much later).
Most functionality of the Casino Update will initially be limited to Official Servers. Typing Derby and Trivia will still show up on community servers, but they will not payout. Support for other servers will come later.
The following games will be available in the upcoming Casino Update:
• Trivia
• Typing Derby
• Texas Hold'em
• Video Poker
• 3 different slot machines
• Triple Diamonds: A basic 3 reel slot machine
• Grand Quest: A 3 reel slot machine with a screen and RPG elements
• Wheel of Money: A 3 reel slot machine with a bonus wheel
• Spin to Win
So what's the status as of today?
• Slots are finished. They've been tested quite a lot. We have 3 different slot games ready for release.
• Video poker is finished. It's still being tested, but results have been great.
• AGC backend is pretty far along. We're still working out a few more things before release, but it's been going well.
• Card base is done and well-tested. Card games can be made, which is why Video Poker was made to test cards.
• Spin to win logic is pretty much done, but we need to finish a few things with the items that are awarded.
• Plaza map and artwork is pretty much ready.
• We're optimizing again. We're trying to address Plaza load times by the Casino Update.
• Trivia is finished and well-tested.
• Typing Derby is finished and well-tested.
• Payout system for Lobby games is finished and well-tested.
• Key Binding is finished and well-tested.
• Condo Grid Snapping is implemented, but needs a few more polishing (like showing key prompts).
• AFK support for the game is mostly done - we just need to implement AFK player handling for Game Worlds.
The rest of the changes you can read on the Trello card:

Release date?
Definitely in September. No more delays.
Thanks for bearing with us while we worked on getting this update out. We didn’t want to push out an unfinished update, and we’ve been working around the clock to push the update out a little bit earlier than what everyone expected.
We’ll be continuing to work on new Casino games in the future, this update is only the beginning of what we have in store.
Make sure to report any bugs you find with the Casino (or any of the other new features we’ve added) on the forums and we’ll try to fix them as soon as possible!

I think I got a pretty unique room...
They're high enough resolution you could actually walk up to them and actually play it :v:
Oh god the casino is insane. I started at 1k units, it went to 30k after jackpoting Grand Quest, earned another 30k just slotting in Wheel of Money and pushed it all the way to 520k after winning 2 jackpots in Triple Diamond.
All in 5 hour.
Last time I had to play minigolf for 12 hours just to get 50k.

Yeah I transferred my stuff from GMT and had 56k, spent about 25k on furniture and other stuff and made it back playing Grand Quest and Double or Nothing.
I don't have a problem
Apparently casino is gaining traction in thailand

No but really having a second side seems kind of pointless when you can't even flip it over every now and then.
