I don't have the game yet but that sounds like a terrible idea that goes against what the game is about. In GMT people would actually use the lobby and the suites while waiting for minigames, having the option to skip all that makes it feel sort of secondary to the gamemodes.

It's not really a Tower anymore, it's just a game with neat gamemodes then.
You get a lot of empty lobby servers with people just joining to buy items now. Hopefully there's more incentive to join the plaza now.
I think it'd be better if you still had to go to the games center to access the server browser.
Also, Ball Race makes me sad having to see other people trying so hard and not making it. I find myself cheering for other players when watching them.
Finish the casino and I'll be on Lobbies all day.

They should really consider doing it the way they did on GMT whereas the server lobbies have their own gamemode servers.
I also think they should remove the join gamemodes on the startup menu too, it rather defeats the whole purpose of the whole join up and queue in the Tower lobby that we've all been accustomed to through GMT.
Some criticisms of Ball Race and Planet Panic:
For Ball Race, the gamemode is a bit more unforgiving in solo. Is it possible to get a time extension if there's only one player?
For Planet Panic, I have several issues - It was hard to tell when I was being hit and actually hitting someone, making kills and deaths feel random. I may just be bad and the laggy server I was on may have also affected this, but hey. Also, there should be some limiting factor to your main weapon, it feels like a spamfest right now as you have no reason to NOT shoot.
I think there should however be a way to directly join a private server from the menu, to put in the server's address or see private games friends are in. So like if some friends want to just hop in and play a Ball Race on our own, we could. But otherwise at least make people go to the games center to view the browser.

The problem is that the lobby has NOTHING to do currently.
Once they finish with attractions, it will be worth spending time in again.

Yeah a lot of issues being posted here comes down to the fact that a lot of content isn't present yet or the server issues.
Right now, it's honestly just not fun with the server issues. There's a lot of server swapping you need to do if you want to earn and spend coins and right now it's hell to even get on one server nevermind swapping back and forth.
As for the lobby becoming useless, I think time will solve that problem as more shit gets added to the game like the casino and arcade.
It has potential though if they get shit fixed up especially on the server side of things. I had a couple of games of virus without lag earlier today and I was having flashbacks of timesplitters.

Yeah, I hope they can port over Sky World and Grass World. Right now there's only Paradise I consider being on a lower difficulty.

I can't seem to join any minigame sessions through the lobby since it sends me back to main menu while trying to join a game.
EDIT: It started happening after today's patch.

For me it's the opposite! Joining a minigame from the main menu always ends up in timeout. Every server shows up as having 999 ping. I [I]did[/I] manage to join a game through the lobby though, at about 200.
I don't get the fuss around people who donated to GMod Tower back in the day who are now receiving something in Tower Unite as a simple thank you gesture. Most donators are veterans anyways.
