The main game even updated. Really strange how they would update this late.
Apparently the latest patch made it possible for Mercy to forget how to use her shift ability

That's some TF2 level patching right there.
On the occasions I play Bastion, I love to wait set up right behind Mei walls and wait. Especially enemy ones.
Mei is Bastion's best friend. Bastion has some amazing positioning potential if you work with a Mei to get him in a place he normally shouldn't be.
I think at least almost every other character is at least somewhat important to the overall backstory or setting. Dv.a just fights some giant Omnic this just shows up and harasses Korea sometimes.

how is actively fighting against a huge raging remnant of the omnic crisis making her any less significant than;
symmetra, who works a 9-5 for a shifty company
roadhog and junkrat, who are theives
zenyatta, who is a monk
bastion, who is a robot and is ok
zarya, who also just fought omnics
etc
Honestly, D.va's backstory makes little to no sense. The Omnic crisis, ok; Omnics attacking S. Korea, okay. But the thing that's actually attacking them is... a kaiju-like giant Omnic that periodically arises from the East China Sea? What? First of all, what the hell was this thing made for? Is there just some giant omnic factory that one day shat out a shambling oceanic monstrosity? Second, why the fuck can't they find a piece of metal sitting on the seabed that's big enough to be a threat to a country? Third, why did they recruit gamers?

The Omnics disrupted MEKA's network signal, forcing it to be controlled by-hand rather than remotely. There were no pilots capable of dealing with the advanced control scheme, so they went to pro gamers who had the necessary reflexes to control MEKA. It sounds strange unless you've seen what kind of shit the best Starcraft players are capable of. :v:
We haven't had any details about the giant Omnics that emerged, but in Torbjörn's comic we saw that his guild had been involved in developing the massive Titan. So it could've been something like that.
Is there just some giant omnic factory that one day shat out a shambling oceanic monstrosity?
Yes. Omnics literally come from giant omnic factories called omniums.
Third, why did they recruit gamers?
Video games make people good at using controls to shoot things, so they put gamers in mekas where you have to use controls to shoot things. Fuck me if I know why they recruited RTS players, though.
Quick play is such fucking cancer
forced 50% is so real its painfully obvious, the last time I played, won every game in a row for like 2 hours, now today when I play, win 1 then lose 8 in a row, because the game has to balance it out and force me back to 50%
Video games make people good at using controls to shoot things, so they put gamers in mekas where you have to use controls to shoot things. Fuck me if I know why they recruited RTS players, though.
Defense Matrix is why. When she uses it, she rapidly mashes the buttons on her control sticks as she has to delete each individual projectile accurately, kind of like this.

MEKA being able to delete whatever artillery the Kaiju Omnic thing fired would be pretty important, so they'd need someone with ridiculous dexterity to delete, say, a barrage of rockets. And RTS players have those kind of skills. It's stupid, but yeah.

I'd think it'd pretty easy to get ordnance down there, apart from being slightly slower than through the air. Which doesn't matter much because the thing you're trying to hit won't be moving fast either. The whole concept of giant robots itself is pretty stupid since they'd be pretty much be just a gigantic, expensive target, but that's such an ingrained trope I'll give them a pass on it.

I know about the factories, but what the hell was this factory making, and why did it seemingly only make one of them, and again, why the giant monstrosity? Did the AI governing it watch a few too many Godzilla movies?
As for destroying it, it goes dormant for a few years so it's not as if they're pressed for time to come up with a plan. Even just tracking it would help, I imagine.

Dunno why you'd make something that manually targets projectiles. Don't even get me started on supersonic bullets.
Dunno why you'd make something that manually targets projectiles. Don't even get me started on supersonic bullets.
Because MEKA is usually not manually controlled, the Omnics just shut down its drone-control network. Otherwise it's safe to assume it had automatic targeting.
Dunno why you'd make something that manually targets projectiles. Don't even get me started on supersonic bullets.
From what I understand the Omnics took control of the automated mekas, and the Koreans couldn't automate anything in them.
Hence the need for D.Va
Because MEKA is usually not manually controlled, the Omnics just shut down its drone-control network. Otherwise it's safe to assume it had automatic targeting.
I mean, for a computer with an adequate sensor, targeting bullets probably wouldn't be all that more complicated than running Solitaire, so you think it could be internally automated.

If you learn how to pilot a mech with manual targeting, you learn how to pilot a mech with automatic targeting.

This ARG is killing me.
I think it was silly to announce Sombra so quickly after Ana, look at all the balance changes we've had since then just with the current selection. It's going to be even worse when Sombra is in the game, which could easily be months at this point with the slow teasing.
And if Sombra is a sniper I give up Overwatch.

This design is a little too much like a fem. Reaper. I hope Sombra's design will be a lot more unique then this.
