I need to get around to trying 2142 again now that I'm home. How are the servers? Do unlocks work?
Yep, the only issue it badges and ribbons not giving the correct hours or updating though apparently they are counted. Servers are pretty good, pm me for a secret command.
I can't believe we only got protected uncap with the advent of BF3.
I can't believe we only got protected uncap with the advent of BF3.
Well, a big thing about unprotected caps in BF2/2142 was spec-ops being able to infiltrate and destroy commander equipment.
Ah yes, you almost forget about the artillery sometimes. It was a good aspect of the game, going in and destroying their assets.
I can't believe we only got protected uncap with the advent of BF3.
Commanders in BF2142 and BF2 can DRASTICALLY sway the game in your favor. If the teams are balanced a commander is able to use a UAV to sniff out small areas of intense enemy activity like battling for the hotel flag on Karkand, a UAV shows you the location but not exact where they are. SAT SCAN is slow scan but it reveals all the enemies on the map, and spotting them gives their location, if they're a sniper or not. So when you spot them then you see where they actually area either by a little diamond or a name popup near their location. So it'll be on the map for a few seconds but it's more accurate than a UAV. BF2 arty is fucking devastating, an arty attack in BF2 can take out tanks,APCs, and infantry with little one or two hits and it saturates the area real fucking nice and has massive splash damage. 2142's Arty is more spread out and not as accurate though possible to score kills, it's not that effective tbh. Then they added in EMP strike which well is mostly useless outside of small maps and even then it's still useless. Plus commanders could move the titans so it enabled them to once again direct game flow because if you flew your shielded titan to an unshield enemy titan it means easy assault. Vice versa they can board you once your shields go down. With the removal of commander and the assets it made sneaking into the enemy base to steal vehicles, sabotage, moot because there were not real assets to affect the logistics of the game. Many severs in BF2 before closure and BF2142 always had a "RECON/Spec Ops in uncap only" because it's very easy and very cheap if you sit in their uncap killing people with their vehicles or camping it. Though stealing their shit and driving off to the front for a surprise attack was okay. In taking out commander assets you not limited them in their ability to track you, you made it harder for them to dislodge your more defended areas, forcing them either to think different or get steam rolled. IIRC stealing jets and helis in BF2 basically meant if you were on say Dailan Plant, and you stole one of China's jets at their uncap then that means they now only have 1 jet to the US having now 3 jets. If they stole your F-35s then that meant China now has 4 jets to harass your team with, same goes for helis, and tanks. BF3 and 4 don't let you do that, because lets face it a decent pilot in BF3/4 basically was able to deny air space to everyone and thing on the map, imagine if two good pilots were able to steal enemy jets and rain hell unto you. In short later Battlefield did away with commander/assets so they could prevent base rape but at the same time they took away a layer of gameplay that added onto the whole teambased expierenced
I remember having to explain to my brother why BF1 wouldnt have player controlled howitzers because I still remember the days of BC1 with the artillery gun you could use and the 4/5 people that would crowd around it all trying to get as well as the 3/4 enemy snipers that would camp the spawn trying to kill whoever was using the artillery gun
Punkbuster is more obnoxious than the cheaters it fails to stop.
Yeah... It happen when I switched from x64 to x86. Still... couldn't Punkbuster say "Check Game version" ?
Ahhh you just reminded me of camping the runways on Gulf of Oman with the M95 and picking off pilots as they spawned and ran to jump into their waiting jets :)
IIRC sniping into main like that wasn't against most server rules because it counted as sabotage. Hell I once sniped a flying pilot. But that's when I was a wee lad, these new Battlefields with their pistol headshots through vehicles is all weird to me.
Yeah... It happen when I switched from x64 to x86. Still... couldn't Punkbuster say "Check Game version" ?
Sounds like you have something that's applying D3D hooks but is only x86 compatible.
Is there a free trial for origin access? I think I might be willing to use it for BF1. I missed out on the beta since I had network issues with my PS4 and my computer couldn't run it, but I've updated since then so I'll be able to run it smoothly. Funnily enough the first PC game I played and what actually made me upgrade my graphics card was BF2.
There is, you get 10 hours (and they include the prologue and Through Mud and Blood from the Single Player).
[t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/163686349633748992/234665623811129344/unknown.png[/t] Seriously Punkbuster, GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER!
Try uninstalling and reinstalling your PB, I had this problem before and solved it by doing that.
i have origin acess because it saves more than it cost for a month but it says i cant preload bf1 until the 14 wtf
so how's this bf2142 stuff work? the servers are just back up and i can reinstall from origin? or is there a different client i need?

Played 3 rounds of 2142 and genuinely had a good time. It's clearly old and janky but the gameplay still feels really good.
Played 3 rounds of 2142 and genuinely had a good time. It's clearly old and janky but the gameplay still feels really good.
Be prepared to play some matches that are entirely one sided.
Seems kinda dumb EA isn't selling that $80 Battlefield 1 Deluxe PC on Amazon. It's kind of a deal breaker since there's that Prime discount totaling to $63.99. Edit: Even Titanfall 2 Deluxe PC isn't there too. wtf EA
That's how they get ya. Want the bonus shit? Pay the full amount.
I was trying to play BF4 the other night and there must be something I'm missing in the filters that's messing everything up. I can only see a few servers with handful of people in them, one or two full servers, and a ton of empty ones. I tired setting everything to the default settings but nothing changes. Anyone know what's going on?
Its because Battlefield 3 and 4 have the best server browsers around town. I've noticed the map filters are extremely finicky and break shit for me, try fiddling with those as well as the amount of empty slots filter
Yeah I tried doing that and didn't get much improvement. And the play now thing just tosses me into empty or near empty servers.
Be prepared to play some matches that are entirely one sided.
My first match was Camp Gibraltar where we lost by 9 tickets and the following two were one-sided losses of Titan :v: Edit update: Played 4 more matches today and lost all three. The game is pretty fun but sure is demoralizing.
I think this is the last teaser.
I think I'll just pick up the game on consoles instead. Sorry, PC Master Race bois
or be smart and get it on mexican origin for 60$ for both premium and base.
Did Italy really have an ironman suit or did that guy just build it in a cave with a box of scraps?
Did Italy really have an ironman suit or did that guy just build it in a cave with a box of scraps?
It's a mix of several real WW1 designs, I reckon DICE took some artistic liberty.
Amiens looks awesome.

A lot of downright medieval shit (padded armor for example).
