Battlefield Franchise Megathread V2 - 'The Future of Warfare Is in the Past' Edition

How many games with singleplayer do you play as someone opposed to the US? They finally get a chance with a WW1 game, where the Germans aren't overly bad guys and they don't do it. They didn't even do Austria-Hungary, imagine playing as a Czech or Hungarian soldier, losing the war but still sees their country become independent. That would be a nice ending.
tbh I was at first confused as to whether there would or would not be a german campaign, but from my short-lived google-based research, people were more interested about dice being "sjw" by having black soldiers
i'm really sad to see that they didn't bother, and man, was there an actual potential and a chance to do it. I'm also unsure if dice would make an SP DLC for a game such as bf
We were pretty optimistic to expect a bunch of self-hating Swedes to ever paint their fellow Germanics in a positive light.
If you ever doubted that identity politics had a place in this game's production, just take a stroll through the writer's twitter account.
Can we not
It makes me sad that the German Empire and Prussian tradition in general gets a bad reputation because of the Nazis.
Can we not
Yeah, okay. I'll snip. Just frustrating.
Oh and here's food for thought.

So why do you never play as the Germans?
Not human enough for you? Does the thought of shooting british and americans make you uncomfortable? No. No. We can't have that in our story.
It's not like it was a war or anything.
seems like someone is a little upset, the game doesnt really portray war as a positive thing at all, that includes later wars (hence the "the war to end all wars ended nothing" and the oil quote) Take it at face value, but its a lot more refreshing than "kill enemy russian at X" with literally every russian running around murdering everyone and acting like mindless bad guys.

Still a missed opportunity imo

Self hating Swedes? Are you for real?
Still a missed opportunity imo
Im not saying it isnt, im saying hes way way way overreacting to the smallest issue, going on to say whoever made it should be fired. its a fun campaign and much better than any other battlefield {other than BC1), and seeing people get their knickers in a knot because of an, abiet dumb line, is overreaction to the max.

Yeah, sorry. Trying to deescalate here so there's not a shitstorm in this thread on launch. Was just hopped up on the bants.

I will absolutely not take it at face value, because I know the history enough to see that it took effort to be this amazingly off the point.
Did I expect the world from a video game? No. Did I expect for the war to be portrayed in an accurate light? Yes.
And what I got was an amazingly pretentious meta narrative that brings up the horror and tragedy of war right before you actually play the game in which they are promptly forgotten about entirely.
I point you to the pilot campaign and ask you is this a war story? Which removes the romanticism of aircraft pilots in WWI and shows what a shitshow it was in the air?
No. It is not. It is a story about a person who lies his way onto an airplane and then is suddenly a fucking ace out of nowhere and goes on a magical journey. Ending with him escaping the completely in the right arm of the law and getting an innocent man killed on the deck of a battleship, before promptly taking off from that battleship to engage in a dog fight with five zeppelins and the clone army of not-barrons. All of which he takes out himself.
Flyboys is more fucking respectful than what that was. Shit it makes it look like a documentary.

Spoiler warning?
The 2nd mission on the Nothing is Written campaign is fantastic, if I didn't know any better I would've thought I was playing MGSV.

this is coming from the guy who openly supported War Thunder who has such an insane russian bias that they outright denied official documents about german tanks, but went on to listen to the propaganda out the ass russian documents that were outright false. Way to spoil the friends from high places campaign, and if you actually payed attention [sp]all that in the end is most likely fucking false with him even smirking about telling the truth.[/sp] The rest of the campaigns is literally random people forced into war, and trying to just survive.
I think this is the Fog of War game mode.

So, I got 250$ lately, should I get the biggest edition or is it not worth it?

no
Oh I don't want the collector's items, just the game, but with the additional content with it
[editline]17th October 2016[/editline]
Like the Ultimate Edition, is it worth it, or the Deluxe is enough?
Depends on if you want premium or not. I find it a hard sell when we don't even know what the first DLC looks like yet.

That and we won't have any DLC coming for months. The map in December will be free. Might as well save more of that money for other things you might want for now.

It's if you switch to K-bullets.
The animation is extremely snappy
Just finished the Campaign, and while I did really enjoy the other missions, "Nothing is Written" is everything a Battlefield campaign should be with how it had everything laid out.
Man, I'm so broke right now I can't even afford the $5 for the trial.
Looks like I'll be waiting until Friday for my check so I can buy the game
whoever made fao fortress' last rush spot needs to be shot in the head. attackers have to run up a massive hill, over like 4 chokes, and are not given a single tank unless they held onto the previous leg. meanwhile defenders get castle walls and peep holes, and their bomb locations are out in the open with one of them being in a closet where you can toss 50 grenades in there.

So would you say the campaign overall beats all recent BF games?
Has the M1911 Community Mission skin not shown up for anyone else? And the Origin Access dog tag?
