Can i just say that i hated the faction specific/liscence system Hardline tried to pull and i'm glad BF1 probably won't do it? I like being able to mess with all the weapons and hop into a quick game with a gun i like as opposed to having to spend more time than necessary fiddling with a mess of menus to get everything relatively symmetrical between the two teams and loadouts or waste money on a liscence that could be spending on a gun or a gadget. Seriously, by the end of my Hardline experience, i played just Enforcer with three loadouts. 870, 870 with Slugs and A-8 S Harpoon Gun because i was good with them and didn't have to dick with much to get them to work on both teams. Maybe i'm the only one but hey, so be it.
big post
It's funny, the horror story scenario you painted for what BF Vietnam could have been is essentially BC2:Vietnam. NVA using m16s and flying hueys while US troops run around with RPGs and PPSHs. I agree with what you have to say though, and I still find it a little funny you do the same self imposed faction specific restrictions in BF4.
I have to say, DICE has really improved in the FPS animations department. Those animations are just fucking sexy.
From these gameplay videos it looks like they still haven't addressed the absurdity that is vehicle physics in Frostbite. Right back as far as BC2 it has been this bizarre, sliding, rubberbanding nonsense.
I still can't believe they aren't putting the French in a fucking WW1 game.
I still can't believe they aren't putting the French in a fucking WW1 game.
I would not be surprised if France, Russia and others that most likely won't be playable at launch might be added as DLC. 'cause you know, more $$$ for more game (aka EA's pinnacle of mooching money from loyal customers)
Still baffles me that they're putting Italy and the US before France. Like Russia I can kinda understand if they're going for late war era.
To be fair, Italy did contribute in the late war. Still no excuse for cutting out the French though.
Maybe the Swedes just hate the French
Maybe the Swedes just hate the French
Everybody hates the French. That's no excuse though.

Cadorna? Fottiti! Bastard was an idiot.

Is Hardline worth 5 bucks? Honestly thinking of picking it up now with the 75% off thing going on right now.
I hope the Lee-Enfield is going to have a realistically fast bolt cycle animation. If it does it's probably going to be the most viable bolt action for iron sights only aggressive scout. Apparently British soldiers could shoot their Lee-Enfields so fast the Germans thought they had twice as many machine guns as they really did The Steyr-Mannlicher will probably be really good for that purpose too (assuming it's in game because the Austro-Hungarians were confirmed) because it has a straight pull bolt (intended to cycle the gun faster than a standard bolt) and will probably load slightly faster than the others because it uses an en-bloc clip instead of a stripper clip. If they include the Ross Rifle in the base game or as part of a Canadian DLC, it would serve the same purpose as a fast cycling bolt action viable at closer ranges because it also has a straight pull bolt like the Steyr-Mannlicher.
Example of someone getting killed during the vehicle entrance animation.
I'll hope they announce Russian Empire DLC too, if they are going to go this way with introducing the other non added factions from WW1 into BF1. Though honestly wouldn't be surprised if they just do French, just to get away the worst of the bad PR. Kind of disappointing either way, it's a lose - lose scenario for consumers and those interested in buying a genuine arcade WW1 game.

It has a very short range 1 hit kill sweet spot. I don't know how I feel about the differences in bolt action one shot kill spots, or that bolt actions kill in one shot at all in a game where all the automatics seem sorta weak?
I don't know how I feel about the differences in bolt action one shot kill spots, or that bolt actions kill in one shot at all in a game where all the automatics seem sorta weak?
I don't know, but I really want to try it. It really sets them apart, especially if it makes Scout into a viable mid-range combat class and not just a useless garbage sniper class. It's really interesting because it means that even if they are 1 hit kill at certain ranges, at point blank a SMG or shotgun will still beat you unless you get a headshot. Obviously from a realism point of view it makes no sense that a point blank bullet wouldn't kill you, but I totally get where they're coming from in a gameplay sense. It's very interesting. If the Youtuber's have their way though, you won't have to worry about it. Either way, I'm not sure what you mean by the automatics seeming weak either because the TTK for them seems to be extremely quick at close range to close-mediumish range based on the footage I've seen.

It looks like its the same way in BF1 and if it stays that way I'll be very happy.
Aaand Hardline refuses to load, great. Goes to Joining Server and Origin acknowledges it... but nothing
I don't know how I feel about the differences in bolt action one shot kill spots, or that bolt actions kill in one shot at all in a game where all the automatics seem sorta weak?
I don't think bolt actions are going to kill in one shot. In one of the gameplay videos, the guy was using some bolt action rifle with a scope, and it seemed like a body shot usually did around 70 damage, only headshots were one hit kills.

For instance, it could be between 20 and 30 meters.
I don't know how I feel about the differences in bolt action one shot kill spots, or that bolt actions kill in one shot at all in a game where all the automatics seem sorta weak?
Sounds like a way to encourage their use and discourage overuse of automatics to me. In fact after watching some more gameplay and listening to what levelcap has to say, it seems like all the guns are balanced in a way that lends them towards being used closer to their real world use. SMGs are only accurate at close ranges, LMGs overheat and are inaccurate when not fired from the bipod, encouraging controlled bursts, firing from a static position or walking fire from the hip. And then the bolt action and semi automatic rifles seem to be optimized for medium to long range combat with bayonets and some of the semi automatic rifles being select fire to not make you completely outclassed at close range.
Seems like weapon variations allow for more diversity by actually altering a weapon's stat and behavior but will still allow for customization of attachments. [editline]16th June 2016[/editline] Also, it seems like scouts get access to armor-piercing ammo.
Hoo boy I remember why I fucking hated battlelog, just chooses randomly to communicate with Origin. Hardline just goes "Lol launch? Why would I launch despite EVERYTHING ON THE COMPUTER AND MY OWN SERVER TELLING ME TO LAUNCH" Fuck's sake, there is no reason for it not to work. I use origin to go to battlelog, and it acknowledges when I try to join a server, as it will even ask to start with administrator settings turned on... but just doesn't start.
Jesus Christ, in my 1000 hours with the Battlefield franchise I ain't ever seen a comeback like this:
