You can't melee people on mortars, either. There was also a video I saw a bit ago which I'm having trouble finding that showcased a glitch where if you had a teammate manning your mortar, and then you put a new one down, they'd die immediately and their dead body would be launched into the air.
E: found it

Well that explains why I died yesterday after firing one mortar shell.
Of course levelcap uploads a video showing off the campaign skins as i am rendering a video doing the exact same thing.
At least mine shows the skins of more, with some slow mo for the details
Do the skins you get in Battlepacks actually do anything or are they just cosmetic? I've been getting a ton of them but I don't really care about painting my guns gaudy colors. If it's just cosmetic it makes me wish I could give them to people.
Why is the origin overlay so fucking laggy
It's trying to be Steam
Origin eats away at CPU usage I've noticed. Just having Origin open, all 8 cores are sitting at max voltage and bouncing between 0 and 8% usage, with spikes up to 15%, and that's sitting idle with it on the tray, not even with a window open

Red line is where I closed Origin. Taking all 8 cores into account, a twitch stream on source quality uses less CPU than Origin does Idle.
World War 1 was clearly a terrible time in human history. Degrading and disgusting. Disease and death everywhere, but at least you could do this.

I wish there was an Origin Lite that just did DRM checks and took no resources , but then if I wanted to browse the library or check the store, I could log into normal Origin. Same thing for Steam, even though it isnt that bad.
Sometimes the shotgun can be hilarious

I miss how fast you leveled up your class before the patch. it takes an eternity now. I have no desire to grind other classes for guns now. So much for making me want to play more/try different styles.

I'm finding myself playing TDM or Domination more than the other modes. I don't like how combined arms play out in BF1, its too chaotic for me and the vehicles don't really add another dimension to the game compared to more tactical titles like RO, Project Reality, or even pre-Frostbite Battlefield. I think the most disappointing thing are the behemoths themselves, they just feel like forced gimmicks to me.
Gewehr 98, Iron Sights, 2x magnification. Run around in the thick of it. It's a blast. It's really satisfying putting a bullet into the head of someone so far away they take up 2 pixels
Also the P08 pistol and named my loadout 'Wermacht'

So you don't like the rather accurate depiction of front line chaos that WWI was defined by?

I'm fine with front line chaos, the problem for me is how chaotic combined arms are in this game. Red Orchestra or Project Reality can be chaotic as well, but there is still organization in the chaos and you feel like you're on a battlefield. In Battlefield 1 you just have infantry, tanks, and planes coming out of nowhere because there is no frontline in Conquest and almost every soldier acts as spawn-point for 5 other soldiers. Dice was on the right foot when they put in the new Operations mode as it tries to address these issues, but its not fleshed out enough in my opinion. It feels too much like a mode from Battlefront.

The problem is that you're comparing RO or PR with Battlefield. They're completely different type of games and neither is trying to be anything like one another. If you want something like RO or PR, don't play Battlefield and if you want something like Battlefield, don't play RO or PR.

That's fair enough, but the Battlefields of old actually did play closer to RO or PR (BF:V especially) even though they're still not not quite comparable.
It sucks that they keep going with the same netcode/hit detection from game to game. Dying to a magical bullet after already reaching cover, and shooting someone in the face with a shotgun for 17 damage while they kill you in a fraction of a second.
There's a sector on Monte Grappa Operations where the Austro-Hungarians hide in the bunker. That was the biggest clusterfuck I've ever seen and we weren't able to flush them out.

yeah I held that B bunker with my squad for three assaults, it was great
Just use Nvidia's Shadowplay / Instant Replay thing, useful for just that.
I don't mean the games performance I mean my own. Like I won't be hitting people and all that shit.
Whenever I go running out to an area full of dead allies and start rezzing everybody I feel like Forrest Gump saving his team from the jungle.

I wouldn't really call it the same netcode from game to game, if it was we'd be a lot worse.
See: BF4 launch
If anything patched BF4 + BF1 is definetely the best netcode the entire series has.

They should add a flametrooper kit near that sector...

wouldn't help when the stairways are stacked with dynamite
maybe if the roof of the bunker was destructible

BF1942 had the best netcode
It was really fun aiming 100 metres in front of enemy planes to hit them
There should be an option to join matches with or without squad spawn.
Is there a discord group or something similar?
Also I have no idea if this will help with the performance, I don't like to post things I make but I honestly can't even tell what most settings change without taking some screenshots first.

Is the operations mode worth playing? Would it be better with some friends? :v:
