Battlefield Franchise Megathread V2 - 'The Future of Warfare Is in the Past' Edition

Speaking of BF1942 netcode, it actually used to be perfect in the beginning. But there was one patch which, for some reason, fucked it up and made it necessary to lead everything by absurd amounts. I'm not sure why they didn't fix it back then, and why it's still as it is. I recall the patch was the one they added the Japanese Arisaka rifle (japs used to use the german K98 for some reason), or a patch very close to that.
Dag gum I want that kolibri but I can't play scout for shit.
There's a sector on Monte Grappa Operations where the Austro-Hungarians hide in the bunker. That was the biggest clusterfuck I've ever seen and we weren't able to flush them out.
Because of this point the Austro-Hungarian team has to be completely fucking retarded to lose. They just have to ignore the point in the valley and have everyone go in that bunker.
Also fuck this tracked medal bullshit. I was doing one focused on the pigeon game mode, and need to get 5 pigeon releases. I got like 4, but it doesn't count because the previous requirement, wininng a round, hadn't been met. What happens if you get all the medals before the end of the timer?
I don't mean the games performance I mean my own. Like I won't be hitting people and all that shit.
Shadowplay (now called "Nvidia Share") uses dedicated hardware if you have an Nvidia card to keep a buffer of up to the last 20 minutes of gameplay which is saved to harddrive at the touch of a button. Since it keeps the footage in the buffer instead of constantly saving it to disk it can always be on with minimal framerate loss. There will only be a slight stutter when you save the footage to disk. The point of shadowplay is that you only need to think about saving the footage after the fact. For instance, I keep a buffer of 3 minutes. I don't even think about shadowplay but if I do something wicked sick, I usually remember to press ALT+10 and BAM, last 3 minutes saved.

You get 5000 xp and a dog tag for the medal you completed.
argonne and suez make me want to gouge my eyes out as a scout

Shadowplay really is amazingly useful.
Did they move some of the objectives in Rush and Operations or are there just alternate locations I happen to have never seen?
It sucks that they keep going with the same netcode/hit detection from game to game. Dying to a magical bullet after already reaching cover, and shooting someone in the face with a shotgun for 17 damage while they kill you in a fraction of a second.
There's only so much the netcode can do to reconcile conflicting actions, even with a low ping.
The netcode will always be a balance between giving what people see what they expect and not giving people with poor connections unfair bullshit. In Battlefield 4, once a player hits about 240ms, if you shot at their head while they were moving direct right to left/left to right, the discrepancy between what you saw and where you shot vs where the server thinks they are is too great, so the shot won't register as a hit for you, which makes the game more playable for them as they won't get shot behind cover as much, and it still makes the game playable for you as it's a minor difference you may not notice (most of the time) Which is also why when a squad of fuckers from another continent join they always seem to be hard to kill and do well
In Battlefield 1 I believe they changed it to be around 350ms before the server decides nah the discrepancy is too great, shot doesn't count. So for people with low pings the game feels more solid because it's less dependent on those with higher pings for the feedback we expect from our shots, but the catch is you may get shot from behind cover for a split second longer than you'd like from players with higher latencies

So it's only for each individual medal? Nothing if you get like all 5 before the timer runs out? Linearity in these medals still sucks though
Man, they really gotta do something about LMGs. Just unloaded what seemed like 15-20 rounds from the MG15 to a dude and he killed me with 1 health left, and this is a pretty common occurrence for me.

Wow, just had a moment where it really felt like i'd made a difference. Rounds about to end, they'd pulled ahead via Train after a steep lead, i get two surprise kills and immediately after the round ends 1000-999. We would have lost of i hadn't gotten them :v:

No, it's the opposite. If you're the player with a bad ping in BF4, the server will start rejecting your shots at around 500 ping. Players with low ping will never have their shots against high ping players rejected.

The automatic rifles are the only good LMGs.

I don't think there's anything for doing all five in a week, maybe an achievement(?) but each medal has a separate dog tag reward.
Also does anyone know the mechanics for vehicle respawns in conquest and operations?
The fact that foggy weather goes inside buildings is absurd
Hit detection on my end has been mostly fine but phasing through someone during a bayonet charge is about the most infuriating thing.

Engine limitations and bigger features to worry about, I'm guessing.

It's both. There's even videos showing it in depth
Battlefield 1 needs more weapon variety.
I wouldn't mind if with every expansion they also have a set of free weapons included, like what Visceral did with Hardline's DLC.
I always seem to have the best runs as a Tanker or a downed Pilot. I had one play in Monte Grappa where I spawned in a heavy tank and shot down an enemy plane with said tank. I then headed to a CP where I took out an enemy tank; had to ditch mine before it exploded and found an empty enemy tank that I hijacked. Then, I took out a few guys on foot thinking that tank was going to blow. Luckily it didn't so after the couple guys were dispatched, I got back in to repair it. As I did, two enemies came up and didn't realize the tank was, in fact, manned. When I was 100%, I open fired and killed them both. Another tank came and damaged me enough that I had to get out and flee. So I tried going into the bunker where someone was trying to open one of the blast doors. I stabbed him in the chest from behind, then got shot in the back, myself.
Another time, in the Sinai Desert, I- again- lost my tank and manned a field gun where I was able to take out a low flying bomber. Took Point E, went onto the ridge and knifed a sniper and then the water tower where I knifed another sniper. Then myself and several others took point C and B and I lead the charge on Point A (since the others with me were going prone trying to snipe the guys at A).
Needless to say, I love this game.

Also, what are you guys using to edit your WEBM's? Seems pnifty
Its kinda silly that if you kill the blimp in operations it respawns at full health but if you leave it at low health it has low health the next round. You actually have incentive to not kill it until the last match which is stupid
Was rolling 30-10 k/d at top of the teams, then my ISP decides it's maintenance time and I got disconnected. gg

Simple WEBM. I don't really ever record things.
Don't fucking play medic if you can't fucking do your job
oh my god defending the B bunker on Grappa, what were dice thinking
Just lost a match of war pigeons because medic wouldn't heal me despite spamming for it multiple times, had the message written but had 4 hp
