Battlefield Franchise Megathread V2 - 'The Future of Warfare Is in the Past' Edition

I'll try out the beta for sure (especially since it's only 7.1 GB - that's something my internet can handle) since I've liked what I've tried of Battlefield 3 for free, but I have concerns over ALL the DLC and the business model of the game. Not really sure I want to support that and even if I get over that, I hate the idea of needing to spend an extra 60 a year or lose out on maps and content.
I really wish they went the Titanfall 2 route this year :/
also everything looks like it was heavily recycled from battlefront.
What?
Can you define everything?
Are you saying this just because the desert map reminds of you of tatooine or whatever?
I don't really see the problem with it feeling kinda like Battlefront. Battlefront played fucking great, its problem was the lack of content and good progression. This seems like it'll have full Battlefield progression, so that kinda fixes that problem.
How are vehicles OP at all? Yeah, you can kill shit pretty easily with them, but they're also super easy to kill. Anything below the heavy tank takes like 2 AT grenades to kill and the heavy takes like 3 or some TNT.
this requires you to get close to them.
I feel bad for DICE. Completely new setting, guns (except the M1911 I suppose), vehicles, rehauling of the class system and gamemodes, rebalancing of weapons, melee, vehicles, and points system, addition of horses, special classes (flamethrower, machinegunner, cavalry, pilot etc), map-specific behemoths, bayonet charging and dynamic weather (St Quentin Scar had it, Sinai Desert not so much) and people still think they're rehashing.

Yeah. I literally don't understand it.
People are calling it reskinned battlefront, like, did you happen to notice that you can actually meaningfully control vehicles and that your sniper rifle isn't a MOBA-esque card-based cooldown? What the actual hell.
If it's just because of the sleakness of the UI or something, I mean... come the hell on. I think it's quite nice. BF4's UI is quite crowded really.
My main complaints so far are that medics don't really get a proper notification of nearby needed revives and that there are too many tanks on rush for how few players there are.
Come on guys, Battlefront had sand... Battlefield 1 has sand.... clearly too similar.
[sp]Beyond the UI, I dont get the comparisons at all. Plays like Battlefield to me.[/sp]

Yup that's it, couldn't put my finger on it but that's it, i don't want the game anymore, it's too much like battlefront with all of its sand, cancelling my pre-order
Pretty happy with the beta's performance so far. On a mix of mostly medium with some high settings I get a locked 60fps with an i3 6100, 8gb of ram, and a R9 380X. Once I get my i5 I should be set for the actual release.
I can't remember if I signed up for BF insider or not.. Last e-mail I got regarding BF was on August 10th about The Weapons of Battlefield. Hope I get a key today since I'm off work lol
I don't really get the complaint of the guns feeling like Battlefront being a bad thing.
If we're speaking in terms of animations, sounds or just the overall aesthetics or 'feel' of the weapons, then I'd say that Battlefront had weapons that did great in those things. One thing that always bugged me when going back to BF4 after playing Battlefront or some other post-2014 shooter was that the weapon animations and overall feel felt clunky and glitchy.
Ofc there's also the actual shooting mechanics like spread and recoil, but that's a whole different discussion altogether.
But seriously, how the hell do the weapon unlocks work? I can't figure out how to get the guns that are locked behind ranks when I've already reached those ranks.
Ok shit, now that I think about it, I probs won't enjoy the beta that much as I don't really like too open maps and that I'm an exclusively shotgun player.
Slim chance, but I hope they add in Scar as that map looked more fun to play in.

They're locked behind class ranks. Class ranks seem to take much longer than overall ranks.

Like half of the map is a small village with a bunch of super tight alleyways and buildings.

So do you just get them by playing that class a lot? It's not tied to medals or anything?
anyone else having issues with snipers in close quarters? the few times ive had to panic and shoot some dude 5 feet from me, ive only done a whopping 14 damage.

Now that I've realised this, silk road was just a rehash of battlefront and I want my bf4 and premium refunded at the price I paid for them. EA and DICE are despicable and we as a gaming community can't let this continue.
[sp] I'm looking forward to playing the beta, I got my key last night[/sp]
Probably gonna take me a while to get used to the weapons but i've enjoyed what i've played so far, play medic mostly though it's kinda annoying like someone said above it doesn't really give you any indication that someone is down

It does show the skull and bones icon on your mini-map.
It does show the skull and bones icon on your mini-map.
I noticed that but it's hard to keep track of that when you're sprinting around trying to dodge pretty much everything
The UI feels a lot like battlefront as I feared, but the actual gameplay feels a lot different. I haven't tried it too long but it seems as solid as at least BF3 so far.
It does show the skull and bones icon on your mini-map.
BF4 had a better system of an on screen pointer.
Quick question to the lucky lot whose emails actually worked, can you customize the UI like in BF4? I'm talking about things like transparency, scale and the like.

yeah
99% minimap is like 1/3 of the screen
If anyone's wondering, it looks like the icons set included in the beta files only includes the weapons and vehicle related icons that are playable in the beta, so no new info on that front.
There's new audio regarding operations mode though, including faction-specific briefing dialog that sounds pretty cool. Hopefully operations mode will shake things up.
I still think it's stupid that the beta didn't have faction-specific planes after taunting them in the trailer.
fuck this, the game froze my computer twice with some flickering darkness
Tbh the game's not bad but I doubt it's worth 60 dollars.

My monitor went into power savings mode and froze everything. I haven't tried it again but I think it's the DX12 setting.

What are you basing that on? Did you think BF4 was worth that price?

just a question, did you install the latest drivers?
