Battlefield Franchise Megathread V2 - 'The Future of Warfare Is in the Past' Edition

so will the retail version finally have dice-run servers?
i'm tired of battlefield games being clogged with 1000 ticket servers
I've learned that the trick to using the Support class is in close to medium range, just hipfire. I just had a round where I had 35+ kills using the Trench Madsen and most of those were me hipfiring. I was outgunning assaults and medics with ease
Also I ran into a guy with 16 service stars for the Attack Plane. We had no air presence most of the match.
Sliding and hip firing cunts down with the shotgun is OP as fuck and I fucking love it

[sp]I'm surprised I didn't die with him, let alone leave without a scratch[/sp]
Seeing that plane sitting there makes me hope to god they decide to include some type of classic takeoff mode.
A lot of people would feel like they have no reason to play anymore, including me. i like progression.
I just find it annoying to not have access to the game's content without grinding. I just want to focus on killing stuff and winning and not bother with that.
So it seems that the damage resistance you get from wearing the armour with the hip fire machine gun pickup (IDK what it's called) actually carries over onto the horse.
The horse is more fragile than I was, and I went about 20 kills before dying when I got stuck on a wall and ate two grenades.
Honestly there's something that feels wrong with the infantry gameplay at a fundamental level. I could always find a way to have fun with all the classes in BF4 but for some reason in BF1 never once I can say I've enjoyed playing infantry.
Might be a mix of:
-Never enough transport vehicles to go around. On a full team you have to wait until someone captures a forward points if you don't want to walk from spawn. Might be mitigated if there's the equivalent of a spawn beacon in the full release;
-Gun sights are horribly inaccurate due to visual sway when you move (whereas in BF4 the attachment sights where always 100% dead center since they were rendered independently of the gun);
-Reviving is now useless not only in terms of points awarded (mere 25 points) but the fact it doesn't refund a ticket. The indicator is also hidden unless someone calls for help.
-The new sweet spot mechanic for the recon class is fun when you're playing that class, but it's not fun for anybody else. Just seems like a "get a random OHK once in a while because why not" mechanic that doesn't really give any more depth to the class.
-Conquest in its current form just feels wrong. The only thing that matters is throwing piles of bodies on points and even then you don't feel like you're doing much. Matches always feel like a coin toss.
-Being less optimized than BF4 (get big dips to 60fps all the time while BF4 was at a near constant 144fps) but that might get fixed;
-UI in general being kind of a hot mess. Objective indicators always seem to be in the way. You can change it so they become transparent when you ADS but they slowly fade out, which is half a second too late when I try to take aim at someone. That wasn't an issue in BF4 where you could customize the transparency of all UI elements, both in and out of ADS.
-Spotting seems wonky as all fuck, it worked perfectly in BF4. Just copy it wholesale from there. 2/3 of the time I can't spot something straight in my crosshair.
-The only class that can effectively deal with vehicles is the assault, and since vehicles seem much more effective than they were in BF4 it just makes more sense to throw body piles of assaults at tanks. Why play support or medic when you don't live long enough to run out of ammo and tanks are so effective that 90% of the time you'll be dead instead of wounded so why bother with medic kits?
-Gun's effective range are incredibly narrow compared to BF4. In BF4 having the right gun at the right range gave you about a 2/3 chance to kill the person you are engaging (at least for me). So while you're at a disadvantage if you don't have the right gun, with enough skill you could either move in to a better engagement range, try to escape or outright kill the attacker. Not so much in BF1, if you're at the right range you'll win 90% of the time. Scouts are untouchable by any other classes 75 meters and out. Assaults are godlike within 25 meters or less. In between, it's shared between the medic and support. Overall, it just feels like you have so much less flexibility, it's painful. Take one step outside of your effective range and you're screwed ten ways to sunday.
-I overall dislike the new "inverse accuracy mechanic" for the assault and support class. I find it counter-intuitive and just annoying all around but it's honestly one of the lesser problems with the game, I could live with it.
That's all I could list off the top of my head. At the moment I don't really plan on buying the game at launch, I'll give it a month first.

if you have one or 2 people and a support and you have light-AT grenades, you can fuck up tanks. I did this on B with a medic, we just kept doing ring around the rosy with the tank while I resupplied our AT grenades. Also having a support to resupply and a medic to heal and revive is still useful in the fact that you dont have to wait to respawn or wait to die to resupply your gear. The issues atm is just that most people who play Support or Medic dont do their roles at all, just just forget what they're supposed to do and shoot their guns.
I agree with most of your other points though. Im still going to get the game when it comes out because I've been having loads of fun.
if dice doesn't fix the issue me and a few other rare individuals are having by the end of the beta they can kiss any support from me goodbye. this probably would have been the first battlefield game I'd have bought since 2142, but now I probably won't bother with this or any future installments.
My main issue with snipers is 99% of the time they don't give a shit about the objectives, they're just trying to rack up kills for their k/d, so when the team fills up with snipers you inevitably lose
And let me guess. You have the bad luck of the devine gods where this alone is what effects if you win or lose, with the effects always showing mostly against your team.
how the fuck are there hackers already? i just had a game with a dude running around firing from the hip with a medic gun getting headshots on everyone
The game just doesn't feel right. I mean, the blatant weak balance with the classes can be fixed, but they throw too many vehicles into Rush. What made Bad Company 2 such a great game with Rush was the limited amount of vehicles.

Dude, it's not that bad.
I've played the beta quite a lot the last couple of days, I think it's really fun.
Not 1942/vietnam/2/2142 levels of amazing, but so far I like it a lot more than 3 and 4, at least
I can't decide whether I like the standard light tank or the howitzer variant more
The standard has very little drop on the shells at mid range meaning you can snipe pretty well with it, and the canister shell is pretty good at close range, but you really have to moderate how fast you put out shells because of the ammo store limit
The Howitzer variant on the other hand is never defenceless because of the HMG, which is particularly useful for quickly dealing with multiple enemies from different directions. The Howitzer itself I find more difficult to use than the standard's gun because the blast is still pretty small and the shell drop happens almost immediately, but amusingly it does almost twice as much damage (45 vs about 25) against vehicles compared to other AT guns. Also, the smoke screen is borderline overpowered with how fast it recharges.
I really don't get the autocannon version, the fast reload is nice but that's about it. You're sacrificing much of your defence against tanks and the autocannon isn't amazingly better against infantry than the Howitzer variant's HMG which has longer bursts
Go Howitzer

Yeah, I mean I can see other people having fun but unless I'm in a tank or a plane I was having a horrible time playing, and that even ignoring all the bugs which I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it's gonna be fixed by launch. Issue is most of my gripes deal with a core part of the game so unless they do some massive changes (which they could) I'll have to take a wait and see approach.
god damn sniping feels so good

sniping bothers me in COD. It just feels like firing a big clunky pistol that blocks half your view.
I keep charging at walls, enemies just have to move one or two steps to either side to dodge me.
I'm a fucking dead man after that.
I've seen players charging at rooms and doing 90º turns to stab me when i'm hiding on a corner.
Also people keep using planes as fucking taxies now that tickets won't bleed anymore.
It shouldn't be a problem except sometimes the plane survives the crash and you end up fighting against more planes because the enemy takes them.
why does that call of duty video have a song that sounds like they just put their microphone up to their phone and recorded it
Ikr? They can record game footage but not audio I dont get it
Broken servers are starting to piss me off - 34,000 points that round and progression servers aren't working to count it
i played the beta. maybe i have just lost interest in battlefield. or maybe i just never really liked it to begin with and look back on the 1942-2142 days with rose tinted glasses. i'll see if the full game introduces anything special, particularly naval combat, but for now i'll continue to hold out on buying my first battlefield game since 2142.
Anyone having issues with battlelog?
It's been like this for me for several days now

I honestly just canceled my pre-order.
Battlefield series has just lost alot of depth and personality ever since 2142 or the Bad Company series.

I cannot join any game without being in a party.

I know it sucks, but it felt like you were being a bit melodramatic.
I think there needs to be like, way more passive vehicles, not like turrets, but more like, I don't know era cars that are just kinda floating around that you can get into
