* Player caps for certain modes
* Ticket/Time caps for certain modes
* No RCON tools
* No RCON restrictions like restricting explosives etc on certain maps
* Basically for Console nothing has changed
* PC is basically consoles in terms of server management.
I actually rented a BF4 server to do the Dice Camo thingy back in the day.
The inability to control the servers will piss some people off, definitely...
There goes my dreams of playing on a hardcore mode, bolt actions only server.

People have had 5 years to figure out how to play BF3 but I still see engineers staring into the distance with their SMGs out while there's a tank in the middle of the objective we're on
EDIT: Also does anyone else lower the sights between every shot with pump action shotguns? I feel like it makes it easier to aim since the sight jerks around a lot during pumping.

Under no circumstances can players have any control over their experience
I honestly don't understand it. DICE/EA stand to gain nothing from this other than shitting all over communities that want to exhibit control, at the end of the day it's not like they'll make any less cash from giving control to players. If anything it'll put people off.
honestly i'll be glad if it gets rid of garbage like weapon restrictions, team shuffling that doesn't shuffle the entire squad, or team shuffling which restricts you from returning to your friend's team after getting shuffled
due to retarded server mods like those I can only find two or three decent servers for BF4 within playable ping range
I like it. However, I fully admit that I have selfish reasons for liking it. It prevents retarded shit like 64 man Metro from catching on and becoming the most popular and primary way that the majority of the Battlefield population plays the game, and further influencing DICE into thinking that's what Battlefield should be.
However, I also recognize that people should have the freedom to create these awful servers and if fun to them means a grenade spamming, game breaking, choke point cluster fuck then who am I to stop them. Even if I do think they have objectively wrong and bad opinions about Battlefield.
I like it personally. Call of duty needs to do this too, those crouch/no sprint servers are fucking ridiculous
I like joining servers that tell me to not use a certain type of weapon or I'll get banned, I'll then use JUST that weapon the entire time I'm in that match, like I won't use the knife in close quarters, I won't switch to something else, I will use that weapon, and that weapon only.
Like the XM25.
Yeah, because some weapons are fun to play against. Like Mortar in Rush.

I once played a server that pretty much banned explosives except grenades and shotguns. I bet you can't guess what i did for the whole round.
the only thing that bothers me about this is the player limit and the ticket limit. I feel like 24 players is a little too few for rush and when I tried it in the beta it just felt empty, and I really enjoy 1000 ticket games. They go on forever but its fun to have a battle that long, and it leads to some really close and intense games sometimes.

I got kicked from a no-explosive Lockers server once for getting a kill with a flashbang.
I agree with why485. Shit sucks for people who like their custom games but I know whenever I'm trying to find a Battlefield server the ideal is the closest thing to "vanilla" with no stupid rules.
I understand the hate for all the shitty server rules I've seen, but I play on one with a ruleset that I actually like. I always wanted EA-run vanilla servers for the same reason I liked having Valve servers in TF2, but not having any community-run servers will really hurt the longevity of the game, given that players won't find the niche that makes them want to stick around.

Plus I'm sure we've all been on a server which bans you for using certain weapons while the admins and favoured players run around using those weapons exclusively.

Another gun to collection.
Here's a cinematic to get you guys in the mood for October (even though you probably already are).

Uh, CoD did do this? Most of the recent ones don't even have server browsers or dedicated servers, let alone the ability to have a crouch/no sprint server.
[editline]a[/editline]
Except maybe Treyarch ones as far as dedicated servers, but even then, there isn't a server browser.

Official servers (as opposed to ranked servers) couldn't use modified settings anyway, we had the best of both worlds.

BLOPS 1 comes to mind, and it had a server browser. I remember seeing crouch-only servers quite often.

I have never seen a 60hz official server on my server browser
So on reflection what are your opinions of using the Seven Nation Army remix for the announcement trailer?

I still like it and think it fits. A lot of people argued that the electronic feel didn't jibe with WW1 but I think it sounds very raw and powerful. It was good for the intense action the trailer was demonstrating and I think it was a good way to come out and say that WW1 wasn't as slow as it's perceived to be in modern times.
I thought their use of the feedbacky noise bit during the cut with the shell-shocked artilleryman was very clever.
I thought it was really good, one of the best trailers I've watched for a very long time.
I think Ground Control by David Bowie being remixed for the Infinite Warfare trailer is better.
Same with this, two immense trailers released within weeks of each other. The hype is still real

Is it just all free for that time period or if you get them during that period, you get to keep them for free forever?
As we approach the end of the road, we’ve got something really special for anyone looking to get some Battlefield 4 action in before Battlefield 1 ships on October 21. From September 14 until September 19, every expansion pack for Battlefield 4 is now available for free. That’s right, all of ‘em. And we’ve even got themed Community Missions to go along with them.
