pubby english players in pso2 are legitimately one of the worst player bases i have seen, i feel bad for JP players
I thought they were banning western players
I thought they were banning western players
there's never been anyone banned for not being japanese
the most there was, was sega saying updating their TOS to say "pls don't play our game if you aren't japanese" for legal reasons back in 2012. and nothing has come from that, even 2 years later.
The only english players that have gotten banned so far are the ones that act like rude dicks constantly (like weebs mentioned above), hackers who openly showcase videos of themselves hacking on youtube (idiots), and even then it's rare to hear of someone get banned.
The only reason why non-JP can't connect atm is due to yahoo.jp routing the game awkwardly, and they haven't bothered fixing it because non-JP shouldn't technically be playing the game in the first place.
China was banned because of tons of RMTers tho. Even AIDA, the one who makes the translation patch, and well known among the english/jp community for making said patch, hasn't ever been banned.

i just logged into the game and got thrown into Block 20

option 1)
install tweaker, go to options, other -> install PSO2. it'll slowly download it all
option 2)
use the english installer torrent on arks-layer, and then use tweaker to do everything else
you don't need to manually download the story patch anymore, it's all done through the tweaker, so don't bother with the story patch torrent
Whats bouncer like? I quit just before that came out. Every time I quit so far a new class has been released

He didn't make the English patch, but thanks to PSOW's wishy washy rules on not allowing client modification but allowing his tweaker that does everything for you he's practically thought to be the creator.
Personally due to whatever change happened after the DDOS attacks I need to use a VPN to connect.
Trying to load from the launcher and I'm getting the 103 cannot update error. Anyone know how to fix this?
Do I need a VPN to get it to work? I can't connect to the site or the updater.
you dont need a VPN at any point
Do I need a VPN to get it to work? I can't connect to the site or the updater.
you need a proxy/VPN to connect to the game itself, or the pso2.jp website
and also for the default PSO2 launcher
but only if your ISP is one of the many that currently can't find where sega's servers are
specifically here's the confirmed ISPs that can connect without any kind of proxy/vpn:
Verizon (US)
Time Warner Cable (US)
Hurricane Electric (US)
SFR (France)
Laposte (France)
Virginbox (France)
everyone else is most likely "blocked"
you don't need a proxy/vpn for the PSO2 tweaker though, which you should be using
you'll need one to actually play the game though

I've been using PSO2 tweaker. It finished so I went into the pso2 folder and tried launching the game from the launcher and I got an error.
Can I use PSO2 tweaker to update/get into the game?

tweaker automatically updates when an update is found, and prompts you if you want to install it. you can even install pre-patch data, although it might be buggy sometimes i can't remember
although you'll have to manually install the EN/story patches afterwards again
and then remove the censor/videos again if you want
but how did you and taggart both miss this???

The bitter life of being a comcast customer.. I used to play this all the time until the ddos happened.
I don't want to use a vpn, so that's on me.
To be fair it WAS grayed out for me.
i have ~170ms ping to the proxy i use, which then has an additional ~4ms ping to sega's servers
i probably get a better ping with proxy than i did before the DDOS happened ;;

I got it to launch. This was my fault. I assumed that was just a feature and not a requirement.

What VPN do you use/how do you use it/is it free/how

you can host your own with:
https://github.com/cyberkitsune/PSO2Proxy
although if you don't mind sharing an IP with thousands of other people you can use the publicly hosted one:
http://pso2proxy.cyberkitsune.net/
i just use the free public one because i don't really care all that much. if sega wanted to they would've banned the IP with 600+ simultaneous MAC addresses but they still haven't yet, so i'm sure it's safe enough right? (yeaaaa)
btw you can view the amount of people currently connected to the public proxy, as well as a few other stats, by visiting this url:
http://linode.cyberkitsune.net:8080/
you can also use this to test your ping to his server
ping linode.cyberkitsune.net
and then add 3-5ms to it to get your actual ping
Got it to work, thanks.
Just need to fix the English not showing up.
is this worth downloading?
is this worth downloading?
yea probably
have you played/liked vindictus? you'll probably like PSO2
have you played/liked warframe? you'll might like PSO2
do you like to roleplay as a catgirl mecha waifu in space? you're a weeb but you'll fit right in with block 20 so i guess you'll like pso2
It's a dungeon-crawl instanced style "MMO" with a maximum raid size of 12 party members. You run through various missions killing creatures while you pray to the RNG gods for 11*+ rarity drops.
Certain classes rely heavily on invincibility frames of dodges, some use guards, and some prefer to stay away from the combat entirely using ranged attacks. There's quite a lot of weapon variety, and if you like to play as a archer/mage they have those too.
Most bosses are gigantic, with some of them requiring you to literally climb on top of them in order to properly damage them. You're often required to hit various limbs to break them off in order to temporarily weaken/stun the boss in order to expose it's weakpoint to do massive damage.
There's also special gamemodes that only appear in time-limited emergency quests, like "Base Defense" where you accumulate/spend points while trying to prevent hoards of enemies from breaking your 4 towers. Extreme Quests are also late-game content that are essentially a "tower" of various difficult/unique enemy configurations that you have to power through.
As far as "endgame" goes, it's mostly grinding bosses for 11* and 12* equipment, or gathering up enough money to buy every costume available. Or just enjoying the general gameplay of SuperHard difficulty in various modes.
Does anybody from the old ship 6 crew still play?
I'm probably the only person who's still on ship 6.
I believe I had a character on 6 but deleted him to move to 2.

Yeah, I should have changed over when everyone else did. It's a bit too late now...

well you could pay ~AUS$7.23 for 700AC (or probably more like AUS$10.33 using PSO2es to get 1,000AC because you can only buy in 500 increments?), then use that to get a ship transfer,
then if you got the 1000AC, use the 300AC left over to get another mag~
still think it's dumb how most MMOs charge you for server transfers tho

I remember looking into transfers a while ago and on top of costing money it only transfers a single character and their inventory.
So I don't get to keep the 500 million items I have in my storage or anything in my room. I have to try and sift through the items and cram everything I want into my tiny inventory which I can't be bothered doing.

everything under 10* is pretty much useless anyways. unless you're hoarding a storage filled with 10* stuff or a bunch of 9* that's decently 4/5 affixed i wouldn't worry too much about it. you can buy pretty much any 9* and below for <2k meseta, and you can easily make 100k+ meseta as a low level from daily orders alone. If you're a high level you can easily make 1MIL from daily orders alone.
sucks that they don't transfer room tho
that's stupid
Is it normal that a lot of the dialogue translations do not show up?
Depends on the dialogue. A lot of the stuff for Client Orders isn't translated because they literally say nothing useful.

That's basically my storage. It's a huge mess of 10/11* items and stuff for making 10/11* (ores, pyroxenes etc..)
I've already had to make a room layout just to turn into IKEA to store all the furniture I somehow keep getting from somewhere, just so that I have room in my storage and it still gets filled. I could probably get rid of all the furniture but occasionally one of my friends/I find something I want to use.
