Yeah, me and some other friends are in MpR but I haven't been playing much because I'm in between that point of hard difficulty and very hard and I wish I could use other class weapons to mix it up. Unfortunately, the item you need is AC only and well, it's ridiculously expensive and I can't afford it.
Multi class weapons aren't AC only. You can get them by the player shop.
But to buy 10*+ weapons you need AC
aw yiss managed to figure account info out, on ship 4 and im so relieved i didnt lose all that meseta grinding i made a new character though, wanted to remake the entire look of my character + my MAG was kinda garbage because ive never fully understood how it works when gearing it up
But to buy 10*+ weapons you need AC
10* and 11* are easy to obtain nowadays though. And you can't buy 12* and 13*
Does anyone still play this? Friend of mine got me into it, but so far all I can do is chat when I try to move unless I hold CTRL. [editline]13th July 2015[/editline] Oh, scroll lock was the issue. That kinda sucks considering it's what the keyboard uses to light up the buttons.
You can turn that function off
Man, someone should change the title of the thread, makes me a bit sad everytime I read it. Anyways, I heard knuckles got buffed, are they viable now?
You can turn that function off
I couldn't find the option for it. Using PSO2 Tweaker to launch the game if it makes a difference. Loving the Braver class otherwise. Got to level 20 real easy.

So... How is this game doing?
So... How is this game doing?
Doing alright. Recent anniversary update with a huge grind for some good weapons. Adding PSO1 costumes and stuff soon for a bit but they'll be a bitch to get without paying real money on other shit sadly.
[thumb]http://qs.lc/nwemk[/thumb]
Shit how did I miss that. Oh well. Servers are currently down for maintenance.
Man, someone should change the title of the thread, makes me a bit sad everytime I read it.
Well apparently it's finally happened. PSO2 is finally west. [editline]20th July 2015[/editline] Though only in the terms of the SEA version now being available to anyone. As far as an official release goes, we aren't quite there yet. It's a start though, for anyone who wants to get into the game and doesn't want to faff around with getting the Japanese version up, running, and patched before they know at least a little about how it plays.
Just like the article says, PSO was my first foray into online gaming. And it was a ridiculous addiction. I remember one of my friends who has always been more of a 'watcher' type gamer than a player (he prefers to watch people playing games vs. actually playing them... twitch was a godsend for him), coming over for a weekend. I would play, and he would type using my dreamcast keyboard. Hours, and HOURS spent playing this game. I may have to check this out now that there's a simple option. My question is, someone mentions in the comment of the article that the japanese version with english patch is still a better option. Thoughts?

Especially in places like Australia where you do not want to be downloading the game twice.
The font used in the SEA version is incredibly awful. I don't know how much its changed from launch, but the translation is also not the greatest. I guess if you are interested in playing pso2 without as much hassle, its the way to go. If you do want the latest content and feel like putting in a bit extra effort I'd absolutely recommend the JP version over SEA.
My question is, someone mentions in the comment of the article that the japanese version with english patch is still a better option. Thoughts?
even if there was an actual west release and not whatever the SEA thing is, playing the JP version would still be the best as you dont have to wait for however long it takes for new content to be translated, brought over, etc.
My question is, someone mentions in the comment of the article that the japanese version with english patch is still a better option. Thoughts?
Definitely, the SEA version is really far behind content wise (e.g. two classes and a race are missing to say the least) and last I checked the economy is completely screwed and a bunch of weapons' skills had changed for no reason (Don't quote me on this, I remember reading this a long time ago and it might of just been a misunderstanding). Also the translation goes against a lot of previous Phantasy Star games' localisations. The Japanese version + patch can take a few minutes to setup but it's not exactly hard so I have little reason to recommend SEA.

In cases like that you'd be better off dealing with the extra time it takes to get the Japanese version and rolling with it tbh
how does the whole play with your friends work? I got to like lvl45 all alone and finally when I got some friend to play who's all the way in Singapore while I'm sitting in US East, playing together and I'd see her tp'ing all over the place and slashing the air and monsters across the area would die. Sooo exactly how does the network of the game work? Because if I'd were to recommend this game to my friends, would the sync in multiplayer be better in SEA or what. I'm pretty ignorant on the network stuff so can someone fill me in? I'd honestly would kinda prefer consistent coop seeing my friends actually fighting a boss with me then both of us dealing damage to the same monster but from two different locations then the multitudes of updates the JP version is ahead of SEA

Its a lot of the reason why two people could be hitting the same enemy in two different spots. The game will generally sync the damage done to it / if the enemy is picked up / moved by PAs it will try to do syncing then. Its definitely something you kinda just get used to and accept in PSO2. Really the server would only matter if you were both closer to one server. There is probably always going to be some degree of weird sync differences in PSO2.
I saw the announcement for the western release, but then got crushed when I heard the SEA version is complete garbage. I haven't played Phantasy Star in so many years and after that announcement, I'm tired of waiting. I'm willing to go through the hassle of getting the JP version. My only concern is the Japanese players. Do they have a problem with foreigners? Will I have trouble communicating with them?
So exactly what is the SEA version missing over the JP version? I know it's updates behind but I don't even know what's in the updates to know what I'm missing out. [editline]20th July 2015[/editline] okay oh shit, SEA version only has 4 friggin classes. And the skill trees of the existing 4 classes aren't even complete, my Samurai build! ggggahhhhhh

Ship 02 "Ur" is the one me and a friend play on. You'll also get japanese players, but you might find that some of those japanese players are Western enthusiasts (Kinda like an inverse weeaboo). Funniest one we found so far is a super edge lord with bad engrish and grammar when he wasn't quoting Bullet for my Valentine lyrics :v: [editline]20th July 2015[/editline] Also, the PSO 2 Tweaker launcher does a decent job at translating things while keeping as up to date as possible. I wouldnt mind a NA release, just because it would be easier to get friends into the game. Even if the content will be a year behind, i wouldnt mind if there was a player base. Although, i have got back to playing the JP version again.
Tried to play PSO2 with the tweaker, but as someone who enjoys story I just couldn't continue playing, so much stuff even in the early game wasn't translated, which is a shame because I really liked the rest.

Did you install the english story patch, and did you accidentally start the game on chapter 3?

All that will happen is they will IP block everyone within the NA/EU release of PSO2 from the JP servers. NA/EU servers will be even farther behind in content then SEA is and will probably not get as much of the costumes and crossover items that JP gets because of shitty licensing. Anyone who wants to continue playing on the server that will actually get the latest stuff will have to VPN again, which was kind of annoying back when the IP block from the DDoS happened. I'm completely fine with JP PSO2 being the norm now. Just going to cause more trouble than its worth.
Most of the dialogue is translated for me. Well, hearing the news about the IP unlock in the SEA region made me reinstall the Japanese version. Still a fun game.
