I'm having a consistency issue I need to work on. I'm a GN3, and I can have one match where I'm a good awper, kill 3 players with headshots back to back with the scout, slaughter the opposing team with a shotty, headshot after headshot with pistols, etc. Then, the next match, go full potato. I don't know what it is and it's pissing me off....
Well for one you will be playing different players on different matches. Depending on your playstyle that could mean the world, even if they aren't better than the last team you played against. For example, some players (possibly you) could play a heavy picking style and be good at that, but be significantly less effective when the opponent doesn't try to challenge you for picks. For another you are very possibly expecting yourself to potato if you just had a good match. You will very rarely play better than you expect yourself to play. Confidence is a huge part of consistency. And then maybe you just aren't experienced enough. You are GN3. I don't know how long you've been playing, but give yourself time to learn how to develop consistency. It also probably won't ever go away entirely and will keep showing up on and off as you get better. It's extremely hard to be consistent while also improving. If you stay at GN3 for a long time, you could develop consistency at that level, but if you keep improving you'll probably always be dealing with it in some form or another.
im so close to dmg i can taste it. got fucking wrecked by trash talking smurfs in the first half of a match and came back in the second half because my team didnt care any more and followed me for dumb rushes.
WEEB MUSIC WARNING, MUTE SOUND. (I didn't notice it was playing until I had finished recording it, I'm sorry! I would've played a better song if I had noticed!) Game is unplayable. I was just playing around with aspect ratios and resolutions to see if resolution made a difference on how much you can see (I know aspect ratio does.) and noticed this. I included players so you could see how much is visible based on aspect ratio and resolution. For the confused people (Altimor explained the math to me a few days ago): Higher means you can see more, lower means you can see less. 16:9 = 1.77 repeating. 16:10 (8:5) = 1.6 4:3 = 1.33 repeating. 1280/800 = 1.6 1280/768 = 1.66 repeating, so 1280x768 is not a 16:10 resolution, it's actually 16:9.6
DMG is the first rank outside of the Gold Nova tier, right?
GNM, MG1, MG2, MGE, DMG

If you plat high risk high reward positions people will slowly figure uot how to counter you thus it will be harder to play like you did at the start of the round. Try playing different positions and try to learn the angles.
protip: do not play when you are sleep deprived learned it the hard way
steamy new video guys <3
protip: do not play when you are sleep deprived learned it the hard way
Did it once and couldn't stop laughing; everyone in the server thought I was high.
Wow what a nerd I bet you like chocola. Seriously people, you can hate cheaters, but cheat coders make some damn impressive code for their cheats to be undetected for so long. That and cheating has little to do with morals actually.
If all these cheat makers wanted a programming challenge that caters to their video-game obsession they would be writing anti-cheat routines. They write cheats because that's where the easy money is, I get that reasoning. Don't give me that shit about writing cheats being some kind of esoteric art form. By your logic the cocaine pusher up my street is a damn impressive dude because look, he's making mad money and hasn't been caught for so long!!!! Nevermind the fact that he has single handedly corrupted the youth of at least a hundred teenagers.
GNM, MG1, MG2, MGE, DMG
according to the infographic by valve, Gold Nova tier goes up to MG2. MGE is supposedly the first rank outside of that tier. i would find it hard to believe that each column isn't its own tier, the way this picture is put together. then again, it doesn't matter much anyway :v: until I get to GE, who cares
Yeah no, it's S1-SEM, GN-GNM, MG-DMG. That's just the best way to display 18 ranks without making uneven rows.

DMG - GE have a darker blue background and a gold border.

Just how Silver tier consists only of Silver ranks (S1-SEM), Master Guardian tier of Master Guardians (MG1-DMG) etc. I mean how hard can logical thinking be. :v:

[editline]22nd October 2015[/editline] It's based on names. Did you guys not learn how naming schemes work in english? Silver's comprise their own set Gold Nova's the next Master Guardian is after that LE/LEM SMFC GE How hard can it be to grasp such simple concepts, I do not know. Why the hell do I even have to explain this jesus.
Well it's widely know that no one knows the specific workings of the ranking system, so presuming the the 18 ranks are divided into 4/5 skills brackets instead of 1 big is pure speculation. In other words you can't explain shit.
both attract the morally bankrupt
this is so autistic its like being on hltv better lynch the germans whilst we're at it
^weeb
I mean how hard can logical thinking be. :v:
apparently very difficult for non-americans because going just based on name is fucking stupid for a system that has no official tier system, also because ranking systems are always somewhat contradictory. take a look at military ranks the badges are also separated by color and outline, you dingus

In other words you can't explain shit.
What does the ranking system have to do with this. Do I have to superimpose this over a gauss curve? Though that won't explain what stickers with names on it do. But saying that GE is in the same tier as MGE is laughable, it's a simple 18/3 division to fit the picture format. You can't explain shit either, but at least I'm not pretending to have a deep understanding of the ranking system and am doing the most logical thing, which is the same grouping any other game with a ranking system uses.
apparently very difficult for non-americans because going just based on name is fucking stupid for a system that has no official tier system, also because ranking systems are always somewhat contradictory. take a look at military ranks the badges are also separated by color and outline, you dingus
Highlighted the things that basically lose all impact out of your text. 1. Pulling nationalities into a subject that has nothing to do with them automatically makes you seem like a moron. 2. No official tier system automatically means that the picture basically has no based logic behind "column tiers" and I do admit that the color/outline thing has some sense behind it, it's still not as good of a base as the name based tiers. 3. These are competitive skill rankings not military ranks, the design for silver ranks is similar to military ranks but as far as I know, that's where the similarities end. Please don't drag yourself deeper into the hole. [editline]22nd October 2015[/editline] Oh look it's all the same tier now, what a miracle. [t]https://i.imgur.com/uVAZIDw.png[/t]
Does anyone know how the ranking system works exactly? No-one but Valve.
We know mmr is based on glicko-2. Safest assumption is ranks are based on a gauss curve, which is pretty standard, but it could be on something else (it's not linear though, as the mean according to valve is GN2 ). That's about all we know.

Got my first ace today, and it was with the AWP. I think I'm going to concentrate more on sniping than anything else right now, because it's where I'm the most consistent. I think once I can get that down, I'll start working on rifles and SMGs.

[t]http://puu.sh/kTY0k.jpg[/t] Just a daily reminder that no, you probably can't carry your lower ranked friends.
Yeah me first Ace clutch. Which is also me 3rd ace so far.

In fact, I prefer the SSG 08, and it's what I'm going to be working on. I usually only go AWP once the other team starts stacking them. And I'm not saying I'm bad with assault rifles, just that they aren't my go-to.
ehh. Unless you're doing some sick shit with the scout, it probably just means you're not a decent rifle player. Just work on that, because you'll have to learn it sooner or later anyways.
