I wasn't doing that bad compared to the rest of my team. Yeah I was at the bottom/4th but why would that, in two games, be ground for a demotion?
"here's a promotion, better have a fucking perfect game with a fucking perfect team or you can go right back". Two games is like.. you're a bit unlucky, goodbye new rank? Doesn't really seem fair not to factor in that you might have a bad game or two like that
Seems fair to me.
It averaged you out to not be good enough, that's what the system is there for.
Seems fair to me.

..then why does it promote me in the first place and why should two games be enough of a factor to put you in a different rank at all?
Because the sticker you get is just arbitrary rating on the MMR scale. (or % of playerbase)
The actual ranks/matchmaking is done using glicko-2. Your rank is simply a pretty picture which changes depending on what your rating is.
[editline]25th October 2015[/editline]
They did it so that they didn't have to show people their glicko rating, probably because your rating being two numbers is far too confusing for the average mm player.
Yeah, it does make sense like that. I guess, it seems the system implemented in CSGO just doesn't really check if you're consistently below/above a certain point before demoting/promotion you or something. I've become too used to that in the past.
Eh, doesn't matter much. Hopefully I'll play better tomorrow and only need to win two games or so to rank back up. No big deal. SMFC certainly was a pretty icon though..
It's almost 20 games without a win now.
Wow, DMG is really hard to get out of. Like, I got LE on my main account, then moved to my smurf (VAC ban on main and got into a team), which was DMG. After playing two games to get my weekly drop on my main (doing great in both games), I'm pretty sure I'm close to ranking up to LEM. Meanwhile, on my smurf, regardless of dropping a 30 almost every other game, I'm still not even close to LE.

You are just saving strats
That feel when you're eagle and one of your teammates un-ironically asks "Hey how do you guys shoot so accurately? I can never shoot more than right infront of me without the bullets going everywhere"
Isn't this something that pretty much everyone should know in the game?
Isn't this something that pretty much everyone should know in the game?
Not really, People can get to LEM just on AWP'ing alone. Generally those guys are trash teammates that require everyone else to do the work for them. Lacking significant game sense, don't know any kind of pre nade and hoard all their cash so they can buy the AWP and make them look like good players.
You know the sort, they either get the mid pick right off the bat or else they are effectively useless resorting to picking up eco kills, exits and the occasional lurk to prop their score up and it's everyone else s fault if they can't do it, 'rush B' they somehow end up at the back after being at the front. so on so forth.

Looks like I posted this already:

People really need to stop being in the mindset that a ceratin thing is required to get to x or y rank.
There's plenty of aspects to someone's game, though spray control would be something very important, yes.
So, did ranks get adjusted or something?
When I had last been playing CSGO regularly I was in the depths of Silver IV, but after grinding to Lv3 and playing like... Five matches matches I'm up to Gold IV already.
[editline]26th October 2015[/editline]
Like, the only reasonable explanation I can think of is that 90% of my losses were to Hackers or Smurfs and that they got purged from my rank weighting.
Why would there be hackers at low rank though? They'd rank up quickly from always winning.
I think most people who think they're seeing (non-blatant) hackers at silver/gold are just seeing smurfs.

I watch a few of my friends games who are in the silver ranks and honestly every other game they play they hit a smurf, deranker, troll, hacker. It's a fucking shit show down there.

My friends used to Smurf and get 15-0 in Silver games. Then give the others a Draw by playing Strat roulette. I guess hackers could do similar things, and throw

About 2 weeks before the vac waves they readjusted the rank weightings (ie what rating = what rank). The vac waves didn't actually do anything other than make peoples ranks inflate over the short term.
We thought that was the problem at first, and we all set our ping to 300 but they never got a match while I was in the lobby. One of my other friends has the same problem.
Found a fix!
Not sure if anyone was having the same problem but I wouldn't want to leave anyone without a fix if they are having the same problem.
If you are having this problem have the friend you want to play with invite you. Accept the invite then alt tab before you load in. When your friend says you are in alt tab back in, and start the search.

If you're hacking what's the point of fucking around. Like, hacking is basically pretending to be better than you are. That's why they do it. To succeed in ways they otherwise can't.
And Strat Roulette doesn't make it that much harder to win. Me and some friends decided to do it on a CEVO pug once after like 8-0 and still won pretty comfortably. It is a lot of fun. Absolute dick move to smurf and waste people's time that much though.
I just had the best loss of my whole playtime in CSGO:
We started out in good spirits, as a 4man with one random.
As time went on, we were doing pretty well. Then one of us got real salty and left Teamspeak. A bit later, another person abandoned the match for no reason at all. We were stuck in basically a 3v5, ending the half on an 11-4.
After that, we didn't really give a shit and got to a 15-7. Then this happened:

I wish I recorded Teamspeak comms for this (although it was only me and my friend left, we had some great laughs as I was running towards A site).
After my ace, we actually started playing better, I hit some insane AWP shots and we came back to 15-12, unfortunately dying to their topfragger, a smurf.
I've got so shit over 23 days break from csgo.
Shaky aim and shitty game sense, never realized how little time is needed to get shit :v: (For me at least)

How can you play with 30 fps? :disgust:

He probably just recorded in 30 fps?

No no, that makes too much sense.
I think I simply did the worst clutch performance I've ever seen.

@0:07 > I was 110% sure he was already dead so I pulled pistol and went to defuse, but quickly I noticed he wasn't dead yet.
I lost my mind because of the next shots I missed so I couldn't focus myself that round and then for the rest of the game.
Watching this again is so painful damn. I just hope this won't happen again, ever. Please no

I recently jumped on the Unreal Tournament pre-alpha wagon and my csgo movement is now utterly fucked. Aim is sharper than ever though :v:

If that was the old A1 he would have been dead, you didn't compensate for the ROF change.
Not sure if this is the place to go for support, but has anyone had issues where their microphone doesn't work in-game? The mic bubble shows up, but no one hears me. Voice_loopback 1 returns no feedback.
Mic is definitely working in other applications, and set to default device.
It doesn't, however, cause any feedback in the Steam mic test, even though the device is properly detected. This also happens with other (USB instead of jack) headphones.
I think it may have started after I updated to Steam beta but going back or reinstalling Steam (deleting everything but userdata/steamapps/Steam.exe) didn't help.

You are right, I still miss a few shots due the old m4a1. This was really weird situation. Maybe I was a little too tired to play.
