I use a 60 Hz monitor and I'm solo queue supreme. [editline]9th November 2015[/editline] I often drop below 60 fps on most maps.
It's pretty obvious that you aren't going to magically get global or whatever done though hardware - better hardware can make you better but it accounts for a very small fraction of your performance, which explains why all the idiots who perfectly mimic ScreaM's config still can't hit a one tap to save their life.
I have a 144hz monitor not just for an 'advantage' but because it makes my general gaming/computing experience nicer and smoother.
A lot of my friends who are LEM+ still use 60hz monitors. I saw a post on reddit about a guy who plays csgo with a laptop and he was smfc. Obviously a good monitor will help you out, but it's more than possible to reach a high rank without it.
High rank doesn't mean you can play as well. I have tried playing with 144hz and even tho i suck i easily scored kills around LEM/SMFC/Global. You can never get as good as someone who is good and has 144hz display. It makes a lot of difference. [editline]10th November 2015[/editline] It really makes a huge difference though. It makes aiming a lot easier and you can quickly turn around without missing the details around you. Many of my friends have 144hz monitors and we have changed seats to try the difference. We are generally at the same level, but we did a lot better on 144hz than 60hz (we were changing seats constantly). Saying that it makes little difference is lying to yourself. Competitive fps games are always partially about better hardware.
nobody knows for sure what the actual number is but I've heard from multiple different people playing MM that if you can get in the area of ~75 points (not kills, points) it essentially negates a loss and starts counting as positive score towards your rank
I just scored 90, 37 kills, more MVPs than i care to remember against a LEM/Supreme team with a mix of LE/LEM's and lost 14 - 16 got my rank 'back' after inactivity. Iv'e gone from LEM to LE. havent had no wins taken away as i only 5 man and the last game i played was a win. So i doubt the validity of that.

It's nice and it improves the gameplay a bit, but it makes a marginal improvement to your overall skill at best. It's like that guy who tried to convince me he went up 3 ranks by changing mousepad, that's not how things work.

More specifically a 60hz display gives you 17ms delay at best and even more at worst. [editline]10th November 2015[/editline] But this kinda goes offtopic, i'm not even sure why we are talking about this. But saying that player with 60hz display can still beat 144hz display is like saying you can still win with 50hp an enemy with 100hp. Of course skill matters more, but it gives a huge advantage and it gets increasingly more visible at higher ranks.
It would actually be 50 v 120 hp if my mental math checks out

Relevant to my friends I have made no incredible change in production. Game definitely feels a lot less choppy and it's easier to see things while whipping my crosshair around though.
While the smoothness of 144Hz obviously offers an advantage, the main problem with 60Hz is the motion blur you'll be getting from the average 60Hz monitor. It's ridiculous how much information you'll miss during a quick turn with 60Hz.
huh
I think he means screen tearing
I think he means screen tearing
maybe on his computer
No he means motion blur, not tearing. All LCD monitors have motion blur, even if you disable it in games.
No he means motion blur, not tearing. All LCD monitors have motion blur, even if you disable it in games.
my monitor is led but it's 60hz
huh
60Hz monitors typically take longer for the crystals to transition between colors, which introduces motion blur.
my monitor is led but it's 60hz
"LED monitors" are LCD monitors with LED backlighting
Even 144hz monitors suffer from motion blur, but there are tools to help lessen the effect.
I played a couple of matches on my laptop.. I could really feel the missing frames. Like a phantom pain.
The only computer I have is a shitty 2012 laptop :/ Flashbangs make me drop to sub-20 fps lmao
I wish amoled monitors were a thing
You'd have to pony up quite a bit for one of those, I bet.
but imagine how amazing the colors would be [editline]10th November 2015[/editline] and no blur
but imagine how amazing the colors would be [editline]10th November 2015[/editline] and no blur
And no wallet.

My only problem with this screen is that sometimes I dont see little models of people in covert spots and on extremely long ranges. I always believed that if you are good enough, you do not need gimmicks of superior peripherals. All you need is good hardware so you wont lag and decent headphones. Everything else you will get used to on the go.
A bigger screen will give you a much larger advantage than 144hz
Why
Why
Because my gwasses are broken
I am interested in a cheap 144hz monitor just for counter strike, wouldn't replace my main one so color quailty and such isn't a huge concern.
