Same reason a lot of pros use 4:3
Why wouldn't you want widescreen?
Smaller fov = zoom
Then why not just use 16:9 with the same vertical resolution?
it's probably reasonable to assume that pros who have been playing all the same angles for over a decade would prioritise more frames over a larger fov, if they get caught out that far from their periphery they're usually dead anyway

Pros already have good PCs, the boost in frame rate won't matter, they'd go from like 500 fps to 600 fps.
Also just because you see someone in your peripheral doesn't mean you're dead, what if the other person just saw you in their peripheral too, or what if they didn't see you at all? Both situations would give you time to react.

The only reason to use 4:3 is because you're used to it because you learned the game on a 4:3 monitor, copying a pro who uses 4:3 won't make you any better.

i never said anything to the contrary
"if they get caught out that far from their periphery they're usually dead anyway" note how i said usually and not 100% of the time, it's a margin so slim at high level CS that the pros don't care enough to switch to wider aspect ratios

Well often in 1on1 clutches the extra info is useful when you're scanning for the enemy on a retake situation for example
Pros use it because they're used to it from older CS versions.

Rumor has it:
- aparatis of reddit is uploading videos showcasing the new footstep sounds on various areas of some maps
- If you use a custom font in CS:GO, it may have been reset to the default one
- xPaw (one of the people that maintains SteamDB) shows off the DreamHack Cluj-Napoca trophies for participating teams
- There's also apparently a 2nd level attainable for 2015 Service Medals
- Here's the item schema update, which contains the trophies: https://github.com/SteamDatabase/SteamTracking/commit/99da08332c92edcc2a820667d1bd365586cf7feb
- Not necessarily caused by this update (or this item schema update) specifically, but still worth mentioning: if you live in South Africa, Saudi Arabia, or the United Arab Emirates, Valve recently implemented localized pricing on the Steam storefront. CS:GO items purchased from the store will be charged in your local currency, which will also mean that what you deposit from a debit/credit card will be what you get as there will no longer be any US conversions applied from your card
- If you're in any of the above countries and want to keep track of how things are priced, be sure to watch Dota 2's item schema, which will contain conversion data and provide a bit of a heads-up for impending changes
- Size is ~75 MB
Pretty nice update.
Also who the fuck uses controller on CS GO on PC?
Also not sure if it's a fact or some sort of placebo effect but 144hz improved my aim x100 times.

The new footstep sounds are absolute garbage, they genuinely sound like they're recorded on an iphone or something.

I've actually listened to it and yeah, its accurate translation, so yes, that is real

as much as i dont like playing on dust2 (i dont hate the map, i hate the people who usually play on it) i doubt it
I've actually listened to it and yeah, its accurate translation, so yes, that is real
It's not about the truth of the translation, it's about wether what he's saying is actually true.
D2 isn't being removed for one reason: Valve has absolutely NOTHING to gain from removing it. All it will do is alienate their playerbase. They also don't have anything to replace it with unless they're doing either -D2 + Season or -D2 +Nuke, both of which would be terrible ideas for obvious reasons.
It's not about the truth of the translation, it's about wether what he's saying is actually true.
From what i've heared on stream, since the tournament they're on facebook group with Valve
From what i've heared on stream, since the tournament they're on facebook group with Valve
Yes, I too read the reddit post. I'm talking about if what he's saying is actually true or a troll to everyone who was on stream and TS.
They could also have been trying to rework inferno but removing lamppost was too hard. Accidentally a D2 instead.
I don't think that's credible because they wouldn't remove dust2 and keep cbbl or inferno, both have balance issues. Maybe Valve are sick of the extremely strong meta on dust2, making it boring to watch since there's only so many strats you can use?
Also if they were going to add a new map, why would they choose Santorini over Season?
[editline]11th November 2015[/editline]
They should add dust1 after brightening up the underground section.

My guess:
He's semi trolling
-inferno seems legit, the map needs a rework due to the way you can permasmoke banana, apps are fine but eh, REMOVE THE FUCKING LAMPPOST. Visual rework as well? Why not, we seem to be in a cycle of map rotation so that's good. Bring in nuke
Now what about Season/santorini? Santorini is going to be in the operation that's a no-brainer, but I highly doubt it'll be insta added, it's possible he mixed the two up. But -d2 +Season? I'm not so sure, the maps are kind of similar in style, but it seems highly unlikely to me because removing 2 maps for 2 new ones seems like a stretch.
What I would personally like to see happen is a 9 map pool. Bring in nuke and rotate in and out an operation map every new operation. Season, santorini, facade etc. Give the map makers some extra cash from doing it (postcards or something?) and you have a big map pool with varied maps. However, pro players WILL bitch at 9 maps, just as they did at overpass and cbble, and that is actually a seriously HUGE amount of maps. But it could improve on the map veto strategy, and require an actual good pick/ban phase. We already see teams be stupid about it anyway.
d2 will NEVER be removed
It will be, once all other maps are updated, refreshed and up to standard.
I think it stands a chance at being remade, it needs to be updated visually to fit with all the other new maps.
Holy fuck when did equine terrorists take over?
