Can't say worse but younger for sure.
It's not a bad community per se, it's just very cliquey. If you're not in with a group of players you'll likely be mistreated, basically everyone is an asshole to anyone who isn't their friend.
Largely it can be avoided if you're generally goodnatured about not-so-goodnatured humor, they'll get bored of you pretty quick.
If you're really worried about the community hit up the drama board on the official forums and read a few threads, see the kind of horseshit that goes on.

I've always wanted to get into this game.
I never did because the players base seemed non-existent, and I didn't have the money at the time.
Is it even worth getting into now?
How is the modding scene?
I haven't played this game in ages. Does it still have the SMB brick-smashing sound when you tear blocks down with the hammer?

I never actually bought the game, but if it has a workshop and the community gets better, then I might buy it to play again. Jesus thought, the community was total shit and I almost got banned from the forums because some guy complained that I had a .gif version of his icon.

Well, I installed it again.
Semi familiar. I say that in the sense that I can fumble through the controls and only minimally reference the Controls panel. Always loved the physics, I will say that.

Since I still have my copy I might run a facepunch listen server sometime, since most servers afaik are pretty shoddy.

I always ran my own server even on a shitty PC because I never liked how other server might throw in you a lots of useless mods or the gamerules/map/event-builds might be fucked up.

"City RP" servers usually have a lot of neat builds, and sometimes actually look like little towns, though it takes an annoyingly long amount of time to get enough money to buy your own lot.

It's only 'roleplay' in the sense that DarkRP is roleplay.
There are some good roleplayers on Blockland, I happen to go on what is pretty much one of the last good RP servers on Blockland.

You can enable seeing them in the player list, its in advanced options.

Word of advice: It's really not worth talking about your gender, the attention you get for admitting you're female (or claiming you're female) is the worst kind. The few proven female players have ended up as sources of drama long after they've stopped playing (warring factions between the white knights who can't stop defending them and assholes who can't stop attacking anyone who will respond - most of them quit literally years ago and still get mentioned pretty often)

You can probably try contacting Badspot to explain your situation.
AFAIK, the master server for account keys keeps track of the last time a key was used and from what IP (to see if people are pirating keys), so he should be able to see that your key hasn't been used in months.
You'll probably need to know your account name or ID number.
So when are they putting this game up on the Steam Store?
