What would people be interesting in in the server being?
If someone's gonna make a facepunch server, I'll probably get the game while it's got that discount on steam. All the stuff that you can do in this game seems super interesting but imagine it'd be hard to get to that trying to join random servers.

It's very similar to Garry's Mod, with a larger emphasis on building. It's not quite as moddable as Garry's Mod, but it's good for what it is and definitely worth the current price. I'd like to pay for and host a server, but it's up to everyone who wants to play there what the actual gameplay is like.
Also a word to all you planning on getting Blockland
A lot of servers have [I]a lot[/I] of add-ons that you're going to have to download
they download automatically when you join, but it takes a bit of time

seems to be a much larger abundance of people playing the new holiday season releases and early access games, (rust, dayz, overgrowth, walking dead, starbound, 7 days to die, just cause 2 mp, rome 2 dlc, minecraft update, etc) so it might be silly to open a server for a game nearly decade old while everyone with some spare cash has a shiny new game

Sure your brother wasn't playing roblox? my sister plays it so i bought me and her a copy of blockland to play.
The interface isn't as friendly as it is on roblox especially the serverlist, Roblox mods are listed under categories and displays a custom picture to give people a idea of what the mode is.

It's only $6 right now, which is a good price.
The only big problem is the community, both because it's small, and because it's stagnant. The players are no worse than most of the people that frequent FP, regardless of what people will tell you, but it's difficult to get into a server and make friends considering they are quite close knit, and most of them revolve around roleplay.
In many ways, Blocksland's community is almost identical to Garry's Mod's, and the moddability and gameplay is very similar as well; as such, most of the models and addons and gamemodes are "city roleplay" based.
It's a great game that suffers from a small, confined population that has been around since 2004. If FP managed to get a good bit of regulars on a server, whatever it may be, (sandbox, roleplay, deathmatch, racing, etc) it would be 100x more fun than playing alone or with strangers. Admittedly, playing any sandbox alone (Minecraft, Gmod, Terraria) is boring, but Blockland has advantages over Minecraft and Gmod, such as a building system infinitely superior to either, and a pretty beautiful set of physics and shaders.
It's worth the money because you'll get a good bit of time out of it, even if it's just LAN with your brother, but the game would be infinitely better if we got a little community going and a right proper gamemode that isn't "generic city kid RP with schools and guns."

Been thinkin about chippin out on this to live out of my childhood memories playing with legos obsessively.
Although, all I've done as a child was go from small rectangles to even larger rectangles I called a sword.

I just bought it. Feels really nostalgic for me cuz I've always wondered what it'd be like roaming around as a lego figure smashing a city. This is great.
I'm surprised Lego hasn't tried to make and "official" block type game yet. I know they made the creator series of games in the 90's but a more modern version would sell like crazy.

Because Lego is stupid. They had a potential gold mine with Lego Universe too, and they let that go down the drain.

Lego understands that they make a great profit off of the actual Lego bricks, and that a great deal of their revenue comes from collectors and little kids who enjoy building crazy things. There is a sense of satisfaction when hearing the click of the bricks together, or the sensation of popping them apart, and the company realizes that.
They wouldn't make as much money through a game because you arguably can't really get any of those sensations through a video game, and with Universe being such a wreck, they're going to be super cautious about expanding their games beyond the money-maker licenses. They'd have to compete with other brick games, plus most of their audience wants licensed sets, which would be a price upfront if they included that content in their games. Lego plays safely, they do what works and innovate as little as possible, but they're still a great company nonetheless. They just don't try new things too often and that's fine.

BLID's can be used to add people via RTB and identify someone. If someone is to make a Facepunch server the list can prove useful.

There's a setting in the advanced options to show BL_IDs. Once you enable that, you can find them within the player list.
It's been such a long while since I checked on this game, I should see how my RTB submissions are doing. Maybe upload my "polycubes" as well.
I'm really surprised modding is so stagnant. I'd imagine there would have been more innovation and addons created since I checked 5+ years ago, but it looks like nothing much new has been added.
