snip [editline]28th January 2016[/editline] I think my favorite area so far is the jungle/bamboo tree area. The concept behind those puzzles is pretty cool.
I really fricken do. I just wanted to make sure that it is long enough to warrent the price and that there are no glaring issues with it.
Yes. Dear god you will get so much out of this game.
This game feels kind of like a "metroidvania" to me, but instead of getting a new coloured gun to open doors that you passed earlier you get new knowledge to solve puzzles you passed earlier. Some of the best organic teaching I've ever seen from a video game before
I saw someone on Neogaf say that some of the "collectibles" (the things that add +number to your save file name) are missable. Anyone know if that's true?
Surprised this thread is so dead here considering John Blow's game he worked 8 years on is now out and it's been getting perfect scores everywhere [editline]29th January 2016[/editline]
Idiotech did a video on The Witness after playing for an hour. His main point of criticism is that the beautiful world serves absolutely no purpose and the game boils down to 2D maze puzzles. I've had the same impression from all the pre-release trailers and gameplay videos. Does the game change later on? Is there an actual use for the world or does it stay a really beautiful level-selection menu?
According to pretty much everyone who actually beat the game or spent a significant amount of time on it, this is absolutely 100% untrue The island is one big meta puzzle, it just doesn't become relevant to "solve" until later.
So I picked this up earlier, and I'm already getting stumped on what seems like some of the entry level puzzles. Not a good sign seeing how hard people have been saying the puzzles get.

I do know the idea behind solving the puzzle I'm stuck on, I just can't figure out the exact solution to that one puzzle. If what other people have been saying though, this one of those puzzle games where if you stop playing and come back later you end up solving it first try, so I should maybe practice a bit of patience.
Christ, it's like a leaked CIA portfolio in here :v: So worth it?

I was getting angry at the puzzles that punish you for failure by resetting the previous one, then I noticed that it only happens on puzzles with a relatively small number of possible solutions Cheeky Jonathan Blow put this on the puzzles he saw playtesters brute-forcing, didn't he Looking at you, everyone who found the pink tree grove early on
This is embarassing, I've activated enough lasers to go into the mountain and I can't even complete the puzzle to open it up.
Man I am awful at pretty much every puzzle in the Swamp :v:
The Swamp fucked with me hard. I did not get that tetris shit. Once I came out of there and went over to the fall forrest I realized how hard the swamp was.
The Swamp fucked with me hard. I did not get that tetris shit. Once I came out of there and went over to the fall forrest I realized how hard the swamp was.
Yeah. The other place that gave me a decent amount of trouble was the Greenhouse. Fucking colors man.
I was doing the area with the treetop walkways where you learn about the stars and got stuck because it eventually requires knowing about the tetris shit too. Makes sense I guess, getting up there requires going through the marsh. Then bumbling around half asleep I accidentally discovered [sp]that you can interact with the shadows on the ground that are vaguely shaped like lines to trace. It actually jolted me awake because this was the first interactable non-puzzle panel object I've found. Now the game is even more mysterious.[/sp]

Oh, christ, the [sp]timed randomized puzzles in the mountain[/sp] are gonna take me a while. My brain just can't work that fast.
Man I'm probably gonna get shit for this but the [sp]ending absolutely sucks, it's NOTHING. I hate ~meaningful quotes~ if there's nothing else[/sp]
Man I'm probably gonna get shit for this but the [sp]ending absolutely sucks, it's NOTHING. I hate ~meaningful quotes~ if there's nothing else[/sp]
[sp]There's some more stuff post-credits, and probably more if you do all the secrets[/sp]
I couldn't sleep last night because every time I closed my eyes I saw grids with lines being drawn on them
Got the first ending, now to work on all the optional stuff. looking for world puzzles is a pain, and i am getting such a headache with the sunken ship puzzle
If you don't like the tetris block puzzles, then good luck with the mountain. [sp]The floor with the grid on it that uses shapes from four individual grids is hell.[/sp]
Does anyone know what does this puzzle in the swamp area do? http://u.cubeupload.com/simkas/shot20160127time1942.png I've tried it with multiple solutions, they all register as correct, but nothing happens after that. Does it just open something that can also be opened some other way that I might have done earlier?
Can you show where the fuck this is? I feel absolutely retarded. It's apparently just an easter egg/hidden area with no purpose outside of changing the water color. It says that area opens up when the bridge is away from you after adjusting the control in the teal room. I can't find it at all.
Watching a guy doing it on stream now and hes going about it all wrong. i found ir pretty simple considering.
I'm curious as to which panels people had the most trouble with. For some reason, the last panel in the quarry area took me forever. The one near the dock that opens one of the two locks on the laser switch.

Oh, and in the mountain: [sp]controlling the two panels to make a walkway for yourself to the elevator[/sp] [editline]30th January 2016[/editline]
That fucking [sp]crashed ship puzzle.
Can you show where the fuck this is? I feel absolutely retarded. It's apparently just an easter egg/hidden area with no purpose outside of changing the water color.
Oh, and in the mountain: [sp]controlling the two panels to make a walkway for yourself to the elevator[/sp]
I was already on hour eleven when I hit that, and after all the [sp]fucked color panel nonsense[/sp] I was having none of that shit.
