[QUOTE=usaokay;51343262]I'm going to try to go for a full-stealth, no kills, and no powers run. It's going to take me forever.[/QUOTE] Actually I kinda want to make my first playthrough powerless.
Just picked up my collectors edition, letting it install before I head off to work. God I wish I didn't have stocktake this weekend. ;__;
It runs like hot garbage. I'm pissed. I should -not- be getting 20FPS in the open city area. This is basically unplayable with how often it keeps jumping between FPS counts.
jesus fucking christ its so fucking poorly optimized i want to cry [editline]s[/editline] even worse is that the journal menu lags me out in transitions ugh at least the levels i played arent massive giant streets that drop me to 18 fps
Sounds like my 970 might be having issues. Hope they roll a patch out soon.
I can't even start the game to check how fucked my performance is because Steam is eating fucking shit when it comes to downloading the goddamn game. Even after deleting the game, closing Steam, flushing the download cache, and restarting my PC, it will always start off saying it somehow already has 20GB out of 32.2GB downloaded, download normally until it reaches 70-75%, and then all network traffic will instantly cut out and refuse to progress any further.
I was able to get stable 55-60fps on my GTX1080 using GFE auto settings, the rest of my PC does fit into recommended settings so hopefully they will fix it this/next week.

I got it on ps4 so I don't really have these performance issues, but I really hope you guys get a fix because this game's pretty great so far. I hate seeing a good game get dragged down by a bad port.
How big of a change is this to dishonored 1? anyways? alike AssCree1 to 2 and Portal 1 to 2? or is it more like call of duty where there really aren't that many improvements or, god forbid, they made it worse somehow [editline]10th November 2016[/editline] Also, I have a 1080, am I good for 4k?
Pretty much everything gameplay wise is a direct improvement. I can't comment on Corvo's powers because I started with Emily but there's a lot more non-lethal options and viable mid-combat non-lethal options, like grabbing people after parries and throwing them at other enemies. You can also quickly stomp/kick someone out if they get knocked to the ground and it counts as non-lethal. It's also a bit more punishing for loud playstyles because a lot more enemies come at you than in the previous game, and enemies like overseers are a bit harder to fight.
getting about 40-50fps in the start cutscene, fun times
fuck me if people are performing poorly on even 970 I may as well wait for a sale :v:
Looks like they had both a mantle and dx12 renderer in the works after poking around the files a bit. This file has a bunch of interesting shader code (along with comments). Dishonored2\base\shaderCache\ShaderCache_PC.rpd
Oh man, low/high chaos is STILL in? I really thought they would have taken it out. I mean, I enjoy playing the game, it feels rather fresh even though it's the same as the previous one. But punishing me again with an evil ending (which is what I think it will be) just because it's fun to use the awesome abilities the game gives me seems very contradictory.
I'd say this game's a bit better about every power being viable and cool for nonlethal than the first game. Pretty much all of Emily's powers have a nonlethal use to them(You can even do nonlethal takedowns in shadow form).
It appears that my decision to postpone buying Dishonored 2 in favor of Tiranny will actually pay off
I hope they fix the optimisation soon, I'm getting this for my Birthday next Thursday, and I have Friday off! Sounds like it's a great game though, optimisation aside.
bloodflies just feel like rats but flying and with a hive that needs to be destroyed oh well....
Sucks to hear about the optimisation issues, guess I won't be buying it straight away. Always other options to play, though.
Yeah, it's quite disappointing how badly optimized it is. There are parts in the game like the throne room in the beginning where I only get 40 fps with everything on lowest details. I have a 970 and a 6700K processor. Sucks, since the game is amazing to play.
Yeah, there's no excuse for it either - it's getting bloody stupid how badly prepped a good chunk of "big" games are coming out the door these days.
I was really hoping for a better port. Especially considering how fucking excellent Dishonored 1's performance is. I guess I'll have to play it in a few years when new hardware can bruteforce its way through badly optimized games like this.
I've kept my playtime under 120 minutes just so I can refund it if they do nothing about the performance soon I have 2 major issues and 1 minor with the game - optimisation is obviously the worst, the framerate is all over the place on a GTX 1080 and i7 3770K @ 4.2GHz, but the bad performance compounds the mouse sensitivity which seems to be based on the framerate, hence making it absolutely impossible to aim and sometimes even just look around reliably. It's inconceivably stupid that something like this is still happening given the major problems using similar frame-pacing methodology in the past The minor issue is that leaning is pretty dodgy. It's cool that you can be seen when leaning now, as I thought popping your entire upper body around a corner to gawp at people without them noticing was a little silly in the first game. Leaning will sometimes 'glitch' and stop you from leaning even though there's nothing blocking you in the direction you want to lean. I also dislike the fact that (seemingly?) you can't set Q and E to push instead of toggle and also move around as you are leaned. Just feels less 'loose' and you feel locked in placed if you want to look around corners. At least you can peer over things now. I decided to play the dishonored 1 DLCs that I never got around to, as apparently they're highly relevant to the plot of this game, and I was taken aback at how tight the mouse/movement feel in comparison to D2 All in all I'm really quite sad. The art style has evolved into something wonderful, like playing a painting in motion, and from what I've played of the gameplay it's more expanded in terms of enemy behaviour and animations, but the back-end programming lets ALL of this down. What a shame.
Something's seriously fucked up with this game. I changed from 1080p to 720p and I still can't even consistently stay above 30 FPS in outdoor areas. Dropping resolution gave me less than 10 more FPS.
lol developers are just getting so lazy
30 fps on lowest settings on a GTX 970, i7 4790k and 24 gigs of ram. What the fuck. Worst is it feels like 15 fps, the controls are so fucked I can barely look around during combat. Playtime at 90 minutes, I'll wait until patches come out and if this shit isn't fixed I'll refund in 10 days. Not even worth playing in this state because it just ruins the entire game.
Updating AMD drivers to latest beta version fixed the performance problems for me. So if you've got lag on an AMD card, try that.
Are we talking Arkham Knight levels of bad optimisation here? I'm watching it download now and feeling very nervous and concerned.
[QUOTE=cyclocius;51347049]Are we talking Arkham Knight levels of bad optimisation here? Nowhere near Arkham Knight level.
