[VID]https://my.mixtape.moe/otdsiw.webm[/VID] playing in very hard like a pro stealth player
I wonder if they will ever truly get rid of the performance issues or if we will be stuck with this kind of port for the future. Seeing how Arkane changed from Unreal to id Tech (most likely because of Bethesda), I wouldnt be surprised to never see it being as good in performance like D1.

I'd be happy if D2 was around Wolfenstein's performance (IIRC it's using the same engine).

so the performance is shit, which sucks. but how is the actual game?
Amazing. I haven't played that much but it feels a lot more refined than D1. Although it's very similar to D1 it feels a lot more fresh.
how the heck do i [sp]nonlethally eliminate delilah[/sp] nvm found out where the chapel is
How bad is the performance? A lot of people complained about DX:MD's performance at release but I managed to run it fine by lowering settings to high/medium which still looked pretty good.
the game for some reason sets itself onto low priority whenever actually in the game apparently so it fucks your fps when theres a lot of foliage which is absurdly high quality, i.e. in the throne room at the start or in dunwall in general it sucks but most of karnaca has decent fps for me
I think TvTropes puts it best:
Dishonored 2 is up there with No Man's Sky, Hitman (2016) and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for one of the poorest AAA PC Ports of 2016. Hitman has issues with being poorly optimized despite not looking amazing, Deus Ex was notorious for being a massive resource hog and requiring much higher specifications then it had displayed on the Steam Store, and NMS was well-known for it's awful framerate problems and ugliness regardless of graphics card. Dishonored 2 has all three of the previously listed games' problems at the same time, along with a veritable host of other strange issues like rapidly fluctuating framerates regardless of your rig or settings, weird mousesmoothing that's turned on by default along with not looking good enough to justify it's technical issues. This is highly odd coming from Arkane Studios, as all three of their notable previous works, Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and even the first game all were either PC exclusive or had excellent PC Ports. Time will tell if a Day 1 Patch will resolve these problems.
What? Hitman looks incredible. The lighting, textures and such are great. The only thing where its lacking is the models. Hitman has also improved in performance since the release of the first episode.
i dont think ive ever had a major performance problem with hitman or deus ex though? who came up with that list
Yeah, Hitman looks great. I'm not sure how anyone would think otherwise. Anyway, I'm sure this question has probably been asked a few times already, but is there an ETA for the "Day 1" patch?
I think TvTropes puts it best:
Uglier than NMS? The first dishonored looks better than that.
I'd argue that Metroid Prime and the Windwaker look much better than NMS, and those games were on the Gamecube. To stay more so on topic: how worth is the original Dishonoured if you love RPGs like Fallout: New Vegas? What's it comparable to?
It's an immersive sim, closest game I can think of is Deus Ex.
I loved Human Revolution (and while I don't find it as good, the original is great too), is it up there with that?
I loved Human Revolution (and while I don't find it as good, the original is great too), is it up there with that?
I'd say it's better than HR, but considering I also prefer the original DX maybe we don't like the same aspects in those games. The stealth part is somewhat easier than HR, but you can probably adjust the difficulty by restraining yourself somewhat (I did by trying to use magic as little as possible). The immersive sim aspect is even better IMO, there's a nice variety of approaches and side objectives, nice links between narrative and gameplay (listening to conversations or reading books and notes can give you clues on the different ways you can attain your goal), and just like the recent DX games you can complete it without killing anyone (technically you can in DX too but it relies on glitches). I'd say the main downside is the lack of actual dialog system, the protagonist is pretty much a HL-style blank slate mute. So if you liked making snarky quips and solving situations diplomatically in DX it might be something you miss in this one.
i dont think ive ever had a major performance problem with hitman or deus ex though? who came up with that list
I had major problems with Deus Ex and some settings. Unless I turn them down, it'll run at 15 fps on a 970, along with a buttload of stuttering and loading mainly in the city areas. Hitman just had poor performance (at the beginning) because of the number of things on screen. I haven't played it recently so I cannot comment about how it runs now, in comparison to over 5-6 months ago.
I loved Human Revolution (and while I don't find it as good, the original is great too), is it up there with that?
If you cut out all the social aspect and the plot, along with not abusing blink, sure, I'd say dishonored's levels are pretty good. I'm not sure on what exactly you liked in HR more than in the original Deus Ex (apart from shooting mechanics), but you would probably enjoy playing through dishonored if you liked stealth in HR. edit: For clarification, I'm not a huge fan of d1 (and this is just my opinion weh) because [sp]essentially the story of the game is "kill this list of people who betrayed you" and it seems like the second game is pretty much the same in that regard. All of the characters felt like cardboard cutouts and I barely remember most of them although I can't say the same for some of the levels (which weren't sewers or city streets) - they looked and played very nicely, however my personal experience was limited to non-lethal so I don't think I've used any fun tools they've provided because "you have fun you get bad ending". I know what people who defend this say but I just can't agree. In deus ex games you have freedom of choice at all times but here it feels like a limitation because if you kill one more bad guy guard the whole world around you changes and you get a bad ending. I know they probably wanted to reward the players who challenge themselves to ghost or play non-lethal (even though high chaos spawns more guards and makes it more difficult from what I've heard), but what ended up happening is the game saying "look at all these fun things that you're never gonna use if you want a good ending". This is the case for trailers of both d2 and deus ex: md but in the latter noone's going to punish you for doing so if you deem it necessary. Yes, I understand that you have to kill a lot to get high chaos, but it's still a limitation and it forces everyone into one playstyle when in reality it should encourage experimenting.[/sp]

Thanks guys, guess I'll probably get Dishonoured at some point in the future.
Fucking hell, I hate bloodflies so fucking much. I already have a phobia of stinging insects in real life, but these goddamn things put me so much on edge I can barely play the game. Every time I hear them buzzing I can feel it.
Looking at their hives is enough to make me feel ill.
Even better is the situation that you just hear them behind corner and see the fucking shadows on wall in front of you ...
once i saw bloodflies stuck in the toilet under a dead body
It sucks that there's no new game plus cause playing through with all abilities would be crazy fun
Arkane is working on performance and mouse problems. No ETA. https://twitter.com/Harvey1966/status/797116470908092416
Before weekend please :v:... well, atleast on sunday it could be out

I had to turn it to absolute lowest settings and set the resolution to 900p and still struggle to maintain 60FPS in some areas.

It seems like they (or at least he) actually do care.
