Do the decals flicker for anyone else or is it just me?

Software rendering works much better on modern hardware. I recommend it if you don't mind unfiltered textures.
oh man how long i've been waiting for this.
bad memories of my old half-life 2 beta videos i made when i was 11 or so
Did anybody figured out a way to decompile/view the models?.

Seems to be some z-fighting issue... Probably caused by modern drivers since it doesn't seem to occur on older hardware. If you use the included opengl32.dll and use a Glide wrapper then you won't experience the problem anymore (and things like bullet tracers show).

Nobody has figured out the differences in the model format yet as far as I'm aware however I plan on having a crack at it myself if I have time tonight.
Also people can download a repacked copy of the alpha with a few fixes here...

Someone has.
Me.
Interesting. Have you had any luck decompiling/converting the models to a format that works with the final Half-Life?
No point doing a decompiler, I can do a straight conversion to Half-Life. Is that really wanted though? The models are shit.
It would be interesting to get a better look at the models in a model viewer. Shit or not ;)

There could be something interesting hidden such as unused animations et cetera
Well, I like them, I would like to see the models in HLMV, check the anims, etc.
do want disc
Any way to fix the flickering decals?
Any way to fix the flickering decals?
older opengl drivers fix it as far as i know.
so not really unless you want to dig into the unupdated sites of the 90's to find a old opengl driver

Quiver and Prospero :D
To the guy who did that one multiplayer video:
It's "Now I have a machine gun. Ho ho ho", not "Ho ho ho. Now I have a machine gun."
Also, wondering how much we can mess around with this. Would be nice to mod this up a bit.

I think it's better to use this alpha as a source for, like, mod for final Half-Life. Get models, menus, maps, HUD (though now that hell knows what from the leaked alpha build, I had in mind that green HUD from videos). Modding the alpha would require fixing up its engine, and unlike HL2 beta leak, there's no source code to work on.
not bat :D
Who knows how i can change the crosshairscale?
A beta that predates the alpha? What? I'm confused.
It isn't a beta, I was calling him a beta tester because alpha tester sounds stupid.

So, when is he going to upload it?

Not sure if you can at all, to be honest.
[editline]9th January 2013[/editline]
Nope, you can't.
We have the files, we should try to "repair" the alpha to be a bit more playable.
To play it in software mode, you need to set your desktop to 16 bit.

fix the sp maps? we have the worldcraft for this and everything
You can fix the flickering decals, the invisible weapon selection menu, the blue outline around the HUD, and various other graphical glitches by using software rendering instead of openGL.
To do this just change your color depth from 32 bit to 16 bit, then just run either Half life.bat or Engine.exe

I support this idea. It would be like Missing Information for HL1.
i never thought that this would actually be released, and forever be unobtainable like the DNF/Prey builds
hopefully some gearbox/3d realms employee lets go of one there disks too.
Do the models work in a Half-Life model viewer or a Quake one?

"Convert" the alpha to the latest GoldSrc build as a mod and call it "Half-Life: The Other Half"
