Is it possible to get the weapon selection menu and the transparency around the HUD working in openGL or maybe Glide?
I've got no problem with using software mode but fuck, everything is unfiltered. It's also annoying to keep having to switch to 16 bit color depth before being able to start it.
How do you even get the software executable working? It just tells me it can't find the graphics driver.
Its day one I think, doesnt everyone have it by now? few things are different red hev suit, scientists with black gloves etc, few different models.
Better pic of the shadows.

can you do me a favor and see what version you have installed in the readme?
How do you even get the software executable working?
Just change your Desktop colors to 16-bit from 32-bit. Then Software rendering should work just fine for you.
Beware though, I've had some issues trying higher resolutions with Software rendering.
EDIT:
I believe this information should probably be put in the OP, perhaps more detailed though. :v:
i always wondered what hc_alert2.wav was. it comes up in winamp as just "unnamed", and it doesn't sound like a headcrab sound.
Did you know HL1 works on Windows NT4.0? NT is a bit more stable than 95a.
NT4's lack of DirectX support (especially DirectSound) makes it so not worth it. Enjoy your sound delays through buffer emulation.
There's also that memory footprint issue, as well as the driver availability issue. Not every 3d card had an NT4 driver. (PowerVR doesn't)

Explain why a stencil buffer is used
I don't remember a stencil buffer ever being used for r_shadows. I'm more convinced this of being another "beta mod" hoax now, especially with that blood, which they replaced already before they changed the HUD to this. Even the gloves on the scientist are suspect as they're barehanded before the hud change too.
Maybe comparing the disassembly to QuakeC source code of Quake can help. I think the game code had many similarities with QuakeC code back then. Even exported function (entity names, ClientConnect, PutClientInServer, etc) names are the same.
That wouldn't help at all. Valve OOP'd it all over, its hardly comparable.
and fyi, the progs.dat with the alpha is only a bunch of defines for built-ins. Not very interesting, but it shows they did the flocking stuff and hgrunt ai real early on.
I will definitely try this once I'm done playing Half-Life and Blue Shift beta on my dreamcast.
Damn this thread is amazing
the bids are getting pretty high

That reminds me, since this is an Alpha/Beta thread I might as well share something I own:
http://xylem.buffdrinklots.com/images/games/Dreamcast/Half-Life%5bUnreleased%5d/
This, as far as I know, is an official Promo Box for the Dreamcast released sometime before it was canned. It was put up around shops as a teaser. I won it on an Ebay auction along with two other games that had these boxes, you can find them here:
http://xylem.buffdrinklots.com/images/games/Dreamcast/
I don't have the original link to the auction but the price I won them all for was $77 (rather silly for three boxes huh?)
Another thing I wanted to contribute is a link to high res TF2: BoA screenshots:

Also this contains some of the videos and the only song ever released:

I guess I didnt set the server up properly
So, I tried running this on my old E-Machines with an Intel Celeron running at 633Mhz with 256 MB of ram and 1MB video memory with Windows ME.
2 FPS, at the lowest settings :v:.
How do I enable textures in wordcraft? It says at start that it cant load WAD's or something.
Edit:
---------------------------
Worldcraft Says
---------------------------
No texture WADs were loaded. Worldcraft must
load at least one texture WAD in order to create
maps.
The MakeTex utility can extract the textures from
your installed game and put them into a WAD file that
Worldcraft can use.
Do you want to run MakeTex now?
---------------------------
Yes No
