Finally, Ivan the Space Biker's day has come.
And yeah, check out the demos if you're feeling lazy and don't want to explore the maps yourself. The guy playing is good for a few laughs. He runs through these doors at one part and a scientist runs across the screen, and he freaks out and launches a grenade into the scientists face, blowing him up. Another time he's running around when he passes something like a swimsuit model poster on the wall, and he just stops playing to stare at it for about 10 seconds. And it's always funny watching him try to play super seriously while blatantly on god mode, only to eventually get pissed and just charge whatever's shooting him and launch his infinite grenades at them. Oh mystery gamer of 1998, your legacy will live on~
Lots of particles. Probably removed it to optimize.
1997: FPS drop to 5 2013: FPS increase to 90
It's actually quite interesting to see how much has changed and how much was cut. I really wish that they didn't cut all the monsters out.
Laylay told me I'm late with this, but whatever. A friend of mine (eukos, not active on facepunch) fixed a tiny problem with the engine's buffer overflowing when trying to print the long extension value on newer nVidia cards. So what he did was simply removing the call to print those. Fix here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6618547/enginegl.exe
1997: FPS drop to 5 2013: FPS increase to 90
Why would the FPS increase that much if they didn't remove the particles. In 2013 there just wouldn't be a noticeable difference, it wouldn't "enhance" the performance.
I wasn't serious
not sure what the point of the joke was
Why would the FPS increase that much if they didn't remove the particles. In 2013 there just wouldn't be a noticeable difference, it wouldn't "enhance" the performance that much at all.
I wasn't serious
That hi-poly robot thing scared the crap out of me when it moved in that first video
He had a $500 buy it now option but after the bids gained traction he removed it to rake in more cash.
Pretty sure buy it now goes after the item has had a bid.
24 bids 24 fucking bids [editline]as[/editline] Probably a bunch of guys joke bidding anyway.
Uh if it's legit it's pretty much a piece of history
Optical media degrades over time. Lower range of lifespan is 12 years. Whoever buys it's a sucker. Edit: I should buy it just to microwave it on youtube.
yeah fyi the hi-poly robot was made as an engine stress test deal. It's a robot from some anime series called robotech

(maybe that was redundant, im so tired fuck)
I will be bidding on this. Ill frame it and hang it next to my autographed HL2 Mouse pad in my office.
1997: FPS drop to 5 2013: FPS increase to 90
Reminds me of how I've always wanted to pick a video of crysis gameplay and travel back in time to late 1990. Show it to some poor gamer just so that I could calculate the velocity of brain matter busting through the back of his head.
awesome. (but only now the alpha came out)
How could you connect to a deathmatch server?
I should buy it just to microwave it on youtube.
If you do this I'm gonna find you
That dancing robot is adorable
Holy fuck awesome!!! Are we allow to download those files he put up and if so how we do open them?
Are we allow to download those files he put up and if so how we do open them?
Of course you're allowed, and just mount the .bin or .cue file using a virtual disk program.
And this, my grandchildren, is what impressed us that time just like CryEngine 3 is impressing you now.
