I thought it was their way of saying "look how far we've come since HL1," rather than being a joke.
maybe both
Wasn't there someone in the audience who said something along the lines of, "Hasn't changed much, huh?" right before HL2 Gman popped up?
"Now this will run on my 486?" is another heckle I will remember from E3.
Actually can't wait for Half-Life to be ported to linux, maybe this could be too?
Yeah, it was the opening joke. They basically said "we've worked long and hard on this" and showed the Gman from HL1, who quickly changed to HL2 gman
lol forgot about that
lol forgot about that
I miss that time when games were demoed with PC not console and pad.
I miss when E3 didn't randomly cut to some fuck messing around with a controller.
i really want these models
i really want these models
Ive been trying to port them but got nothing, Ive also tried looking through the half life sdk, but I couldnt find any models and etc. I ve just given up, I hope someone else can figure it out.
an hd version of barney to compliement postal's model would be qamazing [editline]20th January 2013[/editline]
i really want these models
also when were you unbanned
That sucks. I really wanted to play retail with these. And I don't think I was banned to start with, I just left for awhile.
I want that as a DM playermodel
i think i compiled a svencoop version. if i find it i will upload it for you. [editline]21st January 2013[/editline]
Why are some of the beta textures in different games like the female scientist texture in Hl:s, and the early gman texure in the Hl2 leak, but they weren't in the hl1 files?
because HL:S contained a ton of the SDK's contents. and the HL2 leak was a massive content dump that simply included a beta, not a flat-out beta.
That sucks. I really wanted to play retail with these. And I don't think I was banned to start with, I just left for awhile.
"mikfoz permabanned onideku in this thread with the reason “Wasn't the smartest move coming back on an alt and doing the same thing.”
I think everyone got unbanned or something. I don't even remember or know. But yeah, Alpha models in retail. It needs to happen.
lol forgot about that
It's amazing to think that this was almost ten years ago, and it still looks really good and almost technologically on par with modern games.
I don't know about anyone else, but I really like the weapon models. I've managed to get both guns in .obj format, textured, and ready to go, but there's no bones or animations. Any progress on a decompiler yet?
im probably late as f***, but could you possibly get the scientist and others to .obj, i could rig and re animate them.
I want that as a DM playermodel
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38136991/betabarney.zip it's not the wibbly-dibbly version you saw in the picture, as i couldn't get that to work when compiled, half the bones became unrigged and it was all wibbly like a bag of gelatin (aka a quake 2 model) includes an (inaccurate) thumbnail for the playermodel selection screen, too. [editline]21st January 2013[/editline] sven co-op only. it will not work in any other goldsrc game, and it definitely will not work in source.
I wish Ninja/3D Ripper DX worked with this. I would have got the models a looong time ago.
It's amazing to think that this was almost ten years ago, and it still looks really good and almost technologically on par with modern games.
no it looks better than modern games wait that's not saying much at all [editline]21st January 2013[/editline]
I wish Ninja/3D Ripper DX worked with this. I would have got the models a looong time ago.
huh i thought someone used ninja ripper on this a while back also 3d ripper dx wouldn't work since hl alpha is an opengl game
no it looks better than modern games wait that's not saying much at all [editline]21st January 2013[/editline] huh i thought someone used ninja ripper on this a while back also 3d ripper dx wouldn't work since hl alpha is an opengl game
Especially on 8 year old consoles with 10 year old hardware.
MILKSHAPE [t]http://i.imgur.com/UBJzaat.png[/t] NOT EVEN ONCE
The model you imported was simply scaled too large - Milkshape does that sometimes. I used to do a lot of modelling work on some of my Duke3d mods and whenever I exported a model for use in Milkshape and it was scaled too large, it came out like that. At least, I suspect that was the problem. If you could scale the original model down smaller in something like Blender, it should import to Milkshape without issue. I had to juggle so many tools as I was working with a specific revision of MD3... my brain hurt good sometimes.
no actually, it was totally fine, i just used the "smooth model" tool and set it to the absolute maximum.
Milkshape's smoothing tools are the absolute worst, I would never recommend using them and just do it manually. After seeing that model however, I want to see what demented stuff you can do with it.
