I must be the only one who likes the hd models...
Probably because you don't play many half-life mods. This pack really fucks things up with the modding community, like disabling people's model packs and causing mods to be unplayable or just really screwy looking.

Didn't do anything to sven coop for me
Didn't do anything to sven coop for me
Maybe because SvenCoop comes with their own models?
Svencoop replaced all their models with their own HD ones. This only affects mods that are just using default models
What the hell, is that map even in 1.6?
it was in the beta, like 1.3 or something.
Download Counter-Strike: Throwback and you shall see the history of counter-strike and its betas.

Ah, thought you meant that it even overwrote custom models of mods
Alright, made an easy fix to revert the models back to normal.
Simply exit steam and replace the half-life high definition file in your steamapps folder with this with this: http://www.filedropper.com/half-lifehighdefinition.
Make sure it's read-only.
Thanks to eukos for telling me how to do this.
now the game just validates every time I start it and won't launch the game.
Fuck it, I'm just going to dig up my old Half-Life CD and reinstall that.

Upload it, too!
-Never mind-

You know I can't do that. It's technically piracy, which is bad, mmkay? But here, have some photos instead:
Ah, thought you meant that it even overwrote custom models of mods
Separate mods using costume content are fine. Custom model packs that over-wrote files in the normal half-life or blue shift or opposing force will no longer work. And any mod that uses a default scientist is probably going to have issues since the animations will be fucked up, and if it requires scientists to help you beat the game, you might not be able to anymore. Hopefully that makes more sense.

Fuck
Yeah I just tried playing this old mod sweet half-life to see if the HD pack affects it. Only got a few levels in before an animation screw-up made a scientist i needed to open a door for me get stuck behind a table. Looks like I'll also be installing half-life with my old CD again. Glad I managed to somehow not lose this CD.
I don't think I've told this before, but Half-life was that game I randomly selected off the shelf without knowing anything prior about it. I still remember reading through the manual on the way home and looked at the part about the NPCs and under aliens it had just a measly side shot of a barnacle. I was confused to what I was looking at.
This is not even about the alpha anymore.
I guess that was kinda my fault. :P

News on the Alpha is just slow right now. Nobody seems to have produced a solid decompiler so far, and we're still waiting to hear if anyone really has another legit version.

I loved that mod.
I hope POV and Azure sheep still work.
I hope POV and Azure sheep still work.
Playing POV. Some of the models are HD, but you can still get to Chapter One and it will still work.
I got Half-life when my older brother wished for a computer with games from the childrens wish foundation.
Came with Half-Life, deus ex, Giants: citizen kabuto (wish i could find this again ive been aching to play it. such a fun game), Need for speed hot pursuit, dungeon siege and empire earth among others.
when i first played hl i thought it was a scientist simulator and never bothered with it. Until I tried again one day and got scared shitless during the resonance cascade. That is how i was thrusted forth into the wonderful world of pc gaming
I didn't play HL1 until I was like 17. A friend recommended it to me, so I[sp]pirated[/sp]the disk version. I cheated to beat the Nihilanth, but I got it on steam a while later and beat it proper.
sooo can we actually email valve about this
or is this another orangebox update
i would like to think valve goes "oh whoops this wasn't meant to happen"
Who was that guy who claimed his friend having even older alpha version of Half life?

alfred said "dur we can investigate letting you disable it"
so expect it to be default forever, with an obscure and non-patch-note-listed console command to disable it coming in about 2018

i'd at least expect them to change the core gcf's to the hd ones and not overwrite the game with a seperate gcf but nooo they had to do it the hard way and fuck everyone over
What is doing a CS:CZ screenshot in the CS 1.6 store page?
CS 1.6 now uses the new models from CS:CZ by default, and I'm pretty sure that's a 1.6 map.

Dammit, I just opened CS 1.6 to check that. Why Valve? WHY?! My loved old French GIGN is dead :(
