Here's another fun glquake feature holdover that was removed. [IMG]http://leileilol.mancubus.net/crap/mirrors.jpg[/IMG] window02_1 is the special texture name for the mirror, of course being the unchanged name of the Quake stained glass window texture I took the liberty to copy one texture in halflife.wad to this name and made a test map with it. r_mirroralpha controls the mirror texture opacity. Gordon...er, Ivan the Space Biker, being the vampire that he is, does not appear reflected in the mirror (because enginegl doesn't draw the client entity locally) also barney vs barney friendly fire is hilarious

Also, yes indeed there was an intentional blurring effect after all. It's a renderFx that'll only work in software [IMG]http://leileilol.mancubus.net/crap/blur.jpg[/IMG] Testing it from little to extreme values. You can see the 16-bit color working against it causing it to turn green. Very interesting effect The blur effect was replaced by the glow effect which is just additive without a z buffer check.

I remember saw on old photos of HL mirrors, along with shadows.

They're meant for cinematic sequences of course, but in this case I didn't give them any. I also remade the scene with the panther from the techdemo in one room for the heck of it. The map's fullbright too.
