In the end though, bass did release the binaries and source code, and laylay never did release their version of the model viewer.
Mine was more complete at the time as in I had more of the format figured out. Mine was made from scratch and his was a fork of HLMV. That's why I didn't release it, I'd have to spend time making a ui for it to be useable, it just wasn't worth the time and effort when I had better stuff to be working on.
Why wouldn't the Version 4 decompiler and model viewer be released??
The mentality of developing awesome stuff and then stuffing it away and never releasing it is annoying.

Welcome to the beta community.
Hello, Facepunch! I have big news for those of you interested in the Half-Life alpha and other pre-release Half-Life versions.
You may recall that I am developing the mod Arrowhead, essentially the Missing Information for Half-Life. I have been talking to the Shaft team, another mod based on the early Half-Life concepts, and we've decided to team up. Both mods are still going to remain separate, but we will be sharing content to help each other along in our development.
But that's not all! Both Arrowhead and Shaft mods are going open source, meaning we will make all of the content so far (maps, textures, models, code) available to the public to download. We're releasing these early versions because we're looking to the community to be able to contribute to the projects. We hope this content will get you, the community, interested in helping us out.
Thanks to Marphy Black for the text.
Edit: We'll release our texture files tomorrow.

That's awesome! I was wondering what happened to Arrowhead after there was no update on it.
I regularly update my Photobucket account:

Hello again. Here's our first release, the texture files for Arrowhead and Shaft.
There's over 2000 textures (not including model textures and other artwork) in .PSD file format. You can open and edit them in Photoshop. You can also find my old texture work in "archive" folder. Let me know if you have any questions. We are planning to release more files later.

We will be uploading models soon, in the meantime please check out our textures we would love your opinion on things :)
open source could be a big help to us in the long run. So no need to bribe us, everything will be open to the public

guess who's back motherfuckers
i apologize for posting too often back in page 1
All right! Lets get this show back on the road.
Do we still need a guy with a GLide rig?
Probably a dumb question, but why sudden merge of the original thread and v2 threads?
Probably a dumb question, but why sudden merge of the original thread and v2 threads?
actually this isn't a dumb question.
why was it merged? Is it because the post limits for threads increased?
-snip-
Wrong topic! How could i do this!

Shit, man, it's time to see some VSA-100s smoke again! (Extra brownie points if you've got a V5 6000 prototype on you and you let me have a cheap laugh at 3dfx engineering yet one last time.)

Really? Did you seriously think that an old prototype made in 1997 is going to work in the latest OSXes or Linux? Come on.

you might be able to get EngineGL.exe running in Wine.
Hello again. Here's our second release, the map files for Arrowhead [1][2] and Shaft [3]. There's 720 files (everything made between March 2011 and October 2013) in .VMF (Source) and .RMF (GoldSrc) file formats. You can open and edit them in Hammer. Let me know if you have any issues.

Here's two new videos:

desert.mdl -same as olive.mdl, only with "desert" texture (also "hi-res", except for f*gly hands):

hsarge.mdl -super early model of human grunt (yes, Mr. Data!) without gun model and with only two (glitchy) animations:

it's really close to this "proto-artwork" if you ask me

When I try to load this with the Model Viewer for these models, it says "Error loading model". Anyone know why?
They're version 4 models. baso88's current model viewer can only view version 6 models.
Oh. Where could I get .Mdl viewer for V4?
Baso88 never released his v4 model viewer, and no other program capable of doing so is available.
and here i am thinking this thread died a month ago.
Finally got to play the Alpha. Damn is it fun(Somewhat). Broken levels, bullet-sponge grunts, and my favorite friend; Explosive Exploiting.

Heh, with worldcraft in the bundle, maybe we can make jump maps for half life alpha.
I actually have an idea to remake Opposing Force for Half-Life Alpha.
