Yeah ages ago I did a little background into this, the guy who made this made a quake comic series called "The Adventures of Dank and Scud" in one of the episodes he wanted the main characters to be teleported to the, at that time unreleased, world of Half-Life. He contacted Valve and they sent him an early build of the game to make his comic. this build is as far as I can tell the complete build that valve talked about that they scrapped and rebuilt from the ground up. I would kill to get my hands on it but the guy who made those comics is unreachable, his old emails and sites are pretty much dead now.

Fairly late, but I just noticed:

Around 14 years later this suddenly becomes a lot more relevant.
Who's in the middle? I don't recognize that character.

I found this at the bottom of his page:
He can be reached at houston@webframes.com
He might still use this.

Nevermind, webframes is dead.
I have already tried to track this guy down, unfortunately we are gonna need someone who knows him personally or that can look him up.
I find it hard to believe valve would just give him their unreleased game just because he wanted it in his comic.
But it's hard to argue with evidence.
-snip-
Nope.
Additionally, If if we:
A) Found him (Unlikely)
and
B) Valve DID give him an early build (Even more unlikely)
There's no guarantee he still has it. This was many years ago, And he's probably got a new computer and tossed away all of his old files by now. It's probably still worth trying to find him just incase there is that slim chance he still has it, But i'm just saying it's REALLY optimistic to think he still has these files.

Would making posters saying I'll pay for his current contact info and hanging them around town be going overboard?
yes
At least just some posts on like Reddit or something asking for help.
I really want to play a complete version of what we got last year.

No results on Doxbin. Unless we are gonna spam every single Michael Houston facebook account with friend invites, we have very slim chances of even contacting this guy.
Depends, how many are there?
Everyone should be cautiously optimistic of this, if we do track him down its likely he does not have the build any longer, if he does it will be a gold mine, a real Half-Life Beta. (one thing to note is that he uses the Red Gordon in some of the scenes of the comic, then the orange Gordon in others, which suggests there is unused assets in his build, we are talking multiple variations on the content which is fantastic.)

actually theres 2 versions of the same map in his comic meaning that he might have more than one build.
but i doubt we'll ever find him, and if we did i doubt he would give the build
