Eder's voice is uaghaghah. I could listen to him for hours.
I used 44 hours. I completed every quest i could find. Except for some of the companion quests that i found boring, and a couple of quests that conflicted with things i did in other quests. I did not try to rush anything, but i got hooked, so i just played, and then it was done... Gotta say, i only played on normal tho, prob takes longer time on hard.
44 hours huh? so are you going to replay it as a different class or does it have some kind of NG+? How "easy" was that mega 15-lvl dungeon? (I haven't played it yet, so please don't go too spoilery for me)
If anyone is curious, Pillars of Eternity: Complete Bestiary (SPOILERS)
Just started playing and made my character a Dwarven Druid. Jesus christ, that Bear shapeshifting form is huge.
So, I'm getting some dosh tomorrow, and I'm going to put said dosh into my Steam wallet to get this game. What can I expect? Any bits of advice? And yes, I have played CRPGs before.
oh god edar talk dirty to me
"You must gather your party before venturing forth" Okay game, you've won me over.

They seem like the weakest class.
You get a better fighter companion very early in the game. There are no Paladin or Barbarian companions as far as I know, so those would be useful.
A lot of people seemed to have missed it, but you can hire a custom adventurer from any inn in Dyrwood. It's 250 gold per every level, so you can grab companions you wouldn't otherwise get to pad out your team and cut down on the early difficulty.
You get a better fighter companion very early in the game. Either progressively leave and come back as you get stronger, or save it all for the end.
It seems like a weird oversight to not have a rogue companion, though I guess you don't really need one given how skills work. You'd just have to have one person with good mechanics.

The devs said "some of the best loot could be found here"
There, it is done. I have completed the game and visited every location on the map. Now its time to give this game a long break and wait for a dlc.
How exactly does the end game for this work? Do you get to continue afterwards or does it cut to the credits and force you to reload an earlier save? Just wondering, as [sp]I have the go ahead from the gods to chase after Thaos but I'm torn between immediately doing that or clearing off all the bounties and killing the Master Below first.[/sp]
I'm liking this game so much, I'm gonna give Baldur's Gate 2 another try after I finish it. Maybe some other older CRPGs, too.
I might have to make a cipher for my next character. Just picked up [sp]Grieving Mother[/sp] and she is already one of my most useful party members.
For anyone who likes to "cheat" in these sort of games: Pillars of Eternity: Console Commands
just had to use some of those to fix a bugged character
So.. I bought the game for some reason, even though I think I will fail badly at it. Anything to think about before starting? Is there like a beginners guide I can read while at work so I'm ready when I'm home?
dont make a ranger
Make a ranger. then make more Rangers so you can recruit them in your party for later. Then summon 6 bears. Leave rangers at the door, beat game using bears
How feasible is it to make a party comprised entirely comprised of people with blunderbusses? I want to re-enact the Spanish colonization of the Americas.
dont make a ranger
I'm playing a Ranger and doing okay.
How feasible is it to make a party comprised entirely comprised of people with blunderbusses? I want to re-enact the Spanish colonization of the Americas.
feasible and actually pretty useful with certain abilities when you proc so many hits
So has anyone else been affected by the big 5 game breaking bugs?
So has anyone else been affected by the big 5 game breaking bugs?
What are they? The only bugs I've had so far are ai path finding ones.

Bit of advice, Might effects ALL damage not just physical damage. Int is good for barbarians because AoE for shouts, duration of effects, and (I believe) splash damage spread for their basic attacks. Priests are fucking great, mages gotta be careful of friendly fire but have huge variety of options available, especially as you snag more tomes, fighters don't have a lot of options but are GREAT tanks, paladins are also good tanks and helpful bros. Rogues are good for that huge damage after the fighter knocks someone down, things like that. Mechanics is probably your most useful skill, followed by Lore and Athletics.
Paladins seem to have the same problem they did in D&D where they need like every stat.
I really wish that in Expert Mode they didn't remove AoE indicators. I'm basically playing expert but with the AoE indicactors turned on. With the intellect stat changing the radius of all your abilities it's basically impossible to play. You'd have to always underestimate the radius by alot to be sure to hit stuff, also because the graphic effects of a spell dont grow larger with an increasing int.
What are they? The only bugs I've had so far are ai path finding ones.

Nr 1 The mother of all game breaking bugs and the main reason so many people are complaining that the game is too easy on HARD difficulty. Loading a Savegame in the same map where you picked up a companion, and the companion is wearing armor that boost <random stats>. Each time you load a savegame, the stats increase! do it 100 times and your character is INVINCIBLE. Nr 2 Double clicking on a item (like armor, boots etc) and then it equipping on said character his perma stats disappear. Nr 3: I personally didnt experience this yet, but this also hinders gameplay that much that it falls under the category game breaking. The more you save, the longer it takes to load/save again, people reporting 20-30 hours into the game saves are taking aprox 30 sec to quicksave, and similar time to load. Nr 4: Summoning Bug, where after combat the summoned creatures do NOT despawn, leaving you permanently in combat. You can NOT control your summoned creatures anymore and they go with you every map... Workaround is probably loading a previous save for now but I have not confirmed this. Similar thing to Stronghold, there is also a bug at the stronghold that after an enemy wave and you kill it. They keep coming back EVERY time you visit. I tried finding the source but couldnt find it here,, the lovely search function on this forum seems missing. nr 5: Endless Path level 13, spirits not giving password so you can not continue. Nr 6 : Strong Hold doesn't give tax, it only claims taxes (lol). There are multiple topics about it, I just picked out these 2.
Source
