How does this game compare to divinity: original sin?
How does this game compare to divinity: original sin?
I think Divinity OS has a much more robust engine, especially with the cool environmental stuff. PoE definitely has the nostalgia factor going for it if you enjoyed games like BG, IWD etc. I think the graphics look good given the style; some of the environments look really nice, like a hand drawn painting. Combat is pretty good, but it's a lot more frantic than D:OS with a lot of pausing, adjusting, pausing again, use some skills, pause again, etc. I feel like PoE is stronger in the RPG elements since it's a lot more traditional DnD style. Overall I think if you liked one you'd probably like the other, since they both hearken back to the days of RPGs being challenging and requiring thought, not just mindless clicking.
Oh no, I'm getting that feeling where I wanna reroll my Archer character to play a Barbarian. I've just completed the starter area and now I wanna reset and play as a Barbarian. What should I do?
[sp]There's a door that you can only get passed by saying the right thing. To know the right thing is to talk with the spirit on the 6th floor. But for me, the spirit disappeared and I didn't learn the saying to get passed the door :([/sp]
[sp]Sixth floor? I thought the two ghosts you talk to were on the thirteenth alongside the door, down the corridors to the east? The whole "We are allies"/"We are enemies" thing.[/sp]

It's all good, I recruited new adventurers in the Blackhound Inn and I'm alright with my setup. Just wrecked that [sp]old guy with the multiple personality disorder[/sp]. I was gonna kill him at the end anyways, cause I figured I'd put the poor guy out of his misery. Turns out he went ape-shit and accused me of being a bandit or some shit, so I got to slaughter him anyways. He was tough as balls to beat, though. I'm always torn between being a hard-ass motherfucker in this game and treating everyone like shit, or trying to be a just and noble Archer. I usually go with just and noble, then change my mind at the end when it's too late and become a class-A asshole. [editline]4th April 2015[/editline] I accidentally stole from the Blacksmith in Gilded Vale, and they all bumrushed my crew, so I had to slaughter them all. Kinda sad, but ah well. Gilded Vale is a shit-hole and I don't care much for what the locals think of me. May go back one day when I'm stronger and eradicate them all.
I'm at the last boss on normal and my god is this dude hard! the [sp]fire aoe[/sp] that drops is fucking me up big time cause my priest just doesn't have anything to heal up quick enough.. I might try grouping up my ranged to see if that helps. I don't want to look at any guides for tactics (if there is any) and try to kill him my own way.

Are chants supposed to suppress item bonuses?
which ones
The ones that guy starts with seem to be suppressing the reflex/will/fortitude from my cloak.
This can help in combat: Pillars of Eternity: Monster Strengths and Weakenesses
My party really sucks in battle. I'm playing on Easy, and I'm in the [sp]Endless Paths dungeon[/sp]. I can't even take on the Drake, and those god damn Xariu healers wreck my shit because nothing I do can get them killed, and they just keep healing nonstop. So I either focus them in the vain hope of killing them, or I focus the Champions who just keep getting healed by the Priest. Any tips for what to do? My party consists of a level 4 Ranger, Level 4 Wizard, Level 3 Barbarian, Level 3 Fighter, Level 3 Chanter and a Level 2 Priest. I'm finding every damn enemy in this dungeon really tough. I went from the start fights which were relatively easy without too much difficulty, to all of a sudden enemies that hit really hard, have huge damage reductions and are nigh impossible to beat unless I have all 6 of my champs beating on them mercilessly. Even then, it ends with me needing to rest after 2 or 3 encounters of 4 or 5 enemies in each encounter. I tried stealthing and aggroing one at a time, but that doesn't work.
My tip is to go out and do some other stuff first. You are not quite ready to take that stuff on.
Alright, thank you. How the fuck do I leave? I figured I was sorely underlevelled for this area, since every enemy could basically swat my men down in 5 or 6 hits. I [sp]grappled down the hole[/sp] and I couldn't see any option to climb back out again. I'm a good chunk of the way through the dungeon, having avoided the room with the Drake. Is there any exits there?

It's going to be rough going to exit the way you went down but better than being fed to a drake.
I got out. I am now super-badass-stronk. I can wipe out that city to the Southwest near Defiance Bay, or at least all the scrubs in the Goose and Fox. I like to quick-save, mass slaughter the populace, then reload the quicksave, all so I can gauge how metal my dudes are. [sp]they're pretty metal[/sp]
I'm thinking about making a new character(Death Godlike). Stuck between choosing if I should go Cipher or Monk. Opinions?
I'm thinking about making a new character(Death Godlike). Stuck between choosing if I should go Cipher or Monk. Opinions?
Cipher Monk is kinda boring
I'm thinking about making a new character(Death Godlike). Stuck between choosing if I should go Cipher or Monk. Opinions?
I'd go Monk because you get a Cipher companion later. Though I prefer a Cipher personally
I really enjoyed this game, but combat became dull and repetitive and sorta made me not want to carry on playing. Plus, the stat system / talent system didn't seem varied enough, I felt like leveling up wasn't exciting after level 4. Was really good fun whilst it lasted, though.
Yeah, I think they would have been better off sticking to more D&D rules like they did for NWN and such. Those felt pretty assessable; I've never been a fan of not being able to level up my attributes ever again barring items or special circumstances.
Well this died pretty fast..
It's a singleplayer game, not really that much to talk about unless they come out with an expansion or something.
That game also has the support of mods to keep it going. I haven't play PoE for a while since I've been waiting for patches. Gonna get back into it now that it's been patched.
Good changes. I'm liking the inventory sorting, although I think that should've been already a feature. There are always new builds to try, solo runs and whatnot. Not that I'm doing those, I'm still on my first playthough trying to discover everything.
Bought the game a week ago, put 8 hours into it thus far. Playing on hard despite not being to good in crpgs, got my ass kicked quite a few times. Went to places where I probably wasn't supposed to go but right now I got a party of 4 people and things start to progress. This game is quite marvelous, although some of the descriptions and whatnot are so detailed.
Picked this up in the Steam sale, rolling a Folk Paladin of the shielding Order. Reached the Vale and met some arse-hole Elf who I accidently helped kill 3 villagers. He'll never be my friend! I'm a GOOD GUY!
I bought this in the summer sale. The game crashed before I even got to the main menu. I'm definitely playing an Obsidian game. :v: It's pretty neat so far, I've only played a little bit though.
