Are rift crystals only used for hiring higher level pawns?
Are rift crystals only used for hiring higher level pawns?
There are pawn vendor who use rift crystals as currency. There's one in the Encampment who sells you things to customise your pawns inclinations, as well as both your and your pawn's appearance.
Starting hard mode on a fresh save file basically means you need to use a sword and board vocation so you have some survivability.
What, like block and don't die or don't block and do die? haha
I went strider from level 1-25 then Warrior for about 10 levels, now I'm sorceror. No idea how much HP you'd need to survive some of this
hard mode on ng is truly sadistic
not very fun imo
Yeah, it's a shame it doesn't seem to be balanced very well. Just got the first wyrm hunt quests and I'm on 1.2m gold. It's starting to get better as I level up but at the start pretty much everything instakills/stunlocks you to death
I just wanted to do hard mode first so I could get the achievement, but maybe I'll swap down to normal and complete the game on hard in new game plus once my char is OP enough. Probably quite quick to run through the story just doing all the main quests

You use them for pawns, you also use them for items in the expansion content.

Go to the encampment and there's a guy in the rift stone tent that can give you elixirs that can reset/influence your pawn's inclination
It's important to take them in the right order though. Read this
For more rift crystals do the 'from a different sky' quests
Annoyingly hard mode seems to remove all random rift crystal drops altogether
Best way to kill the Gorecyclops on BBI, stay by it's left foot, he can't do shit against you if you stick to it.
A bit disappointed that your character barely talks compared to how much the pawns go on and on and on
I remember my first pawn was basically a little girl and my character was a creepy fat balding guy. It was great. I'd always pick her up and just carry her over my shoulder like a fucking weirdo.
uh
im a small girl and i sometimes carry my max height pawn over my shoulder
all these wierdos playing small girls man
it's like you don't even realize small boys are the best PCs
Why are people changing class?
Why are people changing class?
You benefit from changing classes. More augments, more stat gains, and so on. You don't really have to, but it can help.

I don't think most people realize that my character was supposed to be that weird creepy guy who makes the little girl pawns. Second playthrough was a normal person.
Why are people changing class?
always change class
never don't change class
all those augments, gotta catch 'em all
Sorry if this has been mentioned already but, is anyone else not getting anything from having their pawn rented? I know at least 3 of my friends have been using her and sending her back, but I'm not getting anything in return. They also confirmed they aren't getting anything when I send theirs back.
What gives? Is the pawn rental system bugged? Or are we just the 4 unluckiest bastards right now?
Why are people changing class?
You can still use various augments, stats and abilities from other classes when you switch. So you can create a more versatile character. It's actually a great system.
Besides all the classes are pretty awesome and absolutely worth to play. I really like the assassin, magick archer and the magick knight. Almost all classes feel unique.
So I'm looking for a game to play after my examens end, would you guys recommend this or the witcher 3? Which one can I nolife for a longer amount of time?

Augments carry over, some abilities are shared between classes that use the same weapon but you can't for example use immolation (a dagger skill for MAs only) with a Strider even though they both use daggers. Your vocation at time of level-up affects what stats you get. But for the first 100 levels pretty much everrything goes up for each level so you're not totally gimped if you go from Warrior to Mage.

A lot of them only really come into their own element when you get to a fairly high vocation rank, though.
Especially the Sorcerer, Mystic Knight and Assassin, imo.

witcher 3 became a drag for me quite fast, never finished it
finished DD multplie times, spent hundreds of hours on the last-gen version. take that as you will.
How can I reliably get good BBI weapons without having to slay daimon's second form with weapons from the base game?

If you go over and ask in the Witcher 3 thread you'll probably get the exact opposite answer.
If you want something with a strong plot, Witcher 3 is absolutely the better choice, no contest. If you're not, Dragon's Dogma is the better choice.
DDDA for gameplay, witcher for story (although you'll want to play the previous games)
For anyone wondering what hard mode is like

There's something very wrong with damage calculations in hardmode
It's supposed to be doubled but when you're starting out one hit from a rat is enough to take off 2/3 of your health
One thing the devs could do when porting this game is maybe look into the bugs and problems Drak Arisen had on consoles and fix them.
It seems like all the bugs from 3 years ago are still present and it's annoying. Now we have to hope modders can find a way to do it instead.

Seems about right to me, this is very much a game that's much harder in the early parts and then gets easier as time goes on, from what I can tell.
Very early in the game you will get rekt by basically anything in a few hits, even on normal.

I wish they would have fixed some balancing issues with the release on pc. I remember back in the day when I played it constantly, the balancing was weird at times. The start is incredibly tough but later on you can simply kill everything with ease. Also new game plus doesn't increase the game difficulty which is a shame.

It would have been neat if it did increase the difficulty, it would give me more reason to do the entire story again, although it'd have to not affect BBI and Ur of course.
I think the right bumper on my controller is starting to die. It barely registers half the time. The left one is also having some issues but it's not as bad.
Anyone knows of a way to make the game not pause when unfocused? i like reading stuff online while i wait for the loading screens to be over
Is there any way to actually check what level an enemy is before fighting them? It's more than a little frustrating to pick a fight with a pack of bandits that look the same as the last 50 bandits I killed in the last two minutes, only for them to take no damage from my strongest attack and then I get one hit killed from a single arrow. Then I gotta go back and kill all those bandits AGAIN because I'm still not in a habit of saving after literally every fight.
