Played the vanilla version of this back on the 360, I'll pick this up for the expansion.
This game really is a diamond in the rough. It's abit slow & clunky to pick up, but once you get into it it's without a doubt one of the best rpgs from last gen.
Every time I tried to play this game I tried to level up the Mage vocation at first to get the augment that increases magic damage before switching to Sorcerer, but every time I stopped a few hours into the game because Mage is just so boring to play.
I might try to pick this up and just cheat the Mage vocation level up.

Thats the point of the nights though? It's meant to be pitch black and dangerous as HELL. Hence why you have everyone carrying lanterns.[/QUOTE]
theres dark and then theres stupid dark, i shouldnt have to not play during the day because i can never see a damn thing
That's the point though. You're not supposed to go out at night. Being caught out at night means you didn't plan your day properly.
It's supposed to require you to use your lantern.

if you're that scared of the dark how do you expect to be able to steal your heart back from a dragon? gotta man up, arisen.
It'd look fucking stupid being brighter at night anyway, considering there's no fucking lights anywhere apart from Lanterns and possibly light coming off the Moon.

Considering there is no moon I'd say it's appropriately dark.
just get the elite lanterns and stop bitching about nights being dark. thats one of the better parts of this game anyhow. it tries to aim for some realism as well.
ive never read berserk or watched the anime but i really liked how the outfits looked so its stupid they removed them. they arent even carbon copies so why are they licensed!!
Well, guess I'll forget I own the original, non-dark-arisen version on PS3 then.
There is an option to have friends only pawns, right?
Really don't want to ruin my first playthrough by some cheat engine'd abomination.

There was on consoles at least, I'd assume there would be for the PC version too.
God I cannot wait to get this- ever since the original release I wanted to explore this world, and now I can. Is the port really as good as people say? Because my computer has been showing it's age recently but was top of the line when this game original came out.

Sure, but you can see a pawn's stats and equipment before you recruit them. All their knowledge of beasts as well, though if you haven't encountered a thing yet it'll be marked as "???".

I'm not seeing anyone bad-mouthing it, so I'd assume it is.
Seen a few people saying they're maxing it at a solid 70fps with a 760 and others with worse running it at 60.
This came out of the blue and snug it's way quite sneakily into Steam. I was quite surprised by this.
I spent an absolutely ludicrous amount of time on the original and the expansion that was released back on the 360. Absolutely unique and amazing gem with some flaws though. Still the combat was so smooth and the amount of classes was astonishing.
Perhaps this is a chance for them to revamp the game a bit more like improved balancing, changing spawn locations and new game + that actually gets harder.

Cool thing to note, the original concept was there was going to be multiple parallel worlds on top of each other, and you used a tower to go up/down them. I can only assume we don't have a moon because we aren't on the 'top' world.
Either that or they just forgot to add a moon but I like my explanation better.
If the PC port's up to snuff, I might jump on into this thing once I'm done with Axiom Verge. Heard some pretty great things about it, seems like just the kind of game that belongs on PC.

Well I mean if it doesn't take place on Earth there's literally no reason there has to be a single moon like on Earth, there's several in TES

The moon was like, the final dungeon or some shit.
I can't wait to flick through the concept art, actually, I think that stuff is all in there.

Well the community manager or whatev said that a GTX 980 should play it a 4k 60fps which sounds pretty optimised.

Sounds swell. My 970 isn't that far off, so I could probably keep it above 60 at 1440p (I think that's my monitor's native res).
I love my dark souls.
Could I play this game in a dark souls-ish style by running solo assassin with dodge rolls?
With the solo skills nerfed hard in arisen is that still a viable tactic?
According to people on /v/ who pirated the leaked version say it's a great "port". Runs well on even on low end machines. But that's kinda expected with MT Framework.

Debating whether I should get it, I'm under min-spec for graphics card but I'm way under dying light min spec and I play that so v:v:v
I remember playing this game on console, is this the same game basically ported to PC?

I mean you could always just refund it if it doesn't run well.

Then you should probably Dark Souls. If you're not planning on climbing bosses to hit weak spots or have companions to fill your weaknesses you're going to get boned.
If you're not using your jumps as an assassin there's not even a reason to play it.
Frankly the port is guaranteed to be good because it runs on MT Framework which is magic. Also because Capcom has a tendency to make most of their PC ports good.

It is possible to play somewhat like you would in Dark Souls if you go Assassin and get all the skills that increase your abilities when alone. Though you're pigeon holing yourself pretty hard.
