So I got this game and started hard mode, and it kind of put me off because I pretty much get instakilled a majority of the time, should I restart the save at normal mode in the beginning? Or should I keep powering on? Only got like 5 hours in.
Hard mode wasn't balanced for fresh start. Play normal and switch to hard on NG+.
even normal mode isn't balanced for a fresh start.

Like the others said though, switch it to Normal or Easy and you'll have a much better time. Normal will put you through the paces but the game really gets easier with a full set of gear, a full party and a few vocation ranks. Also don't be afraid to try new vocations, after you get to Gran Soren you can change them at any time.

Because you already know hard mode is intended for NG+ In most other games that's not really the case, I don't see how it's in any way ridiculous to assume that starting off in hard mode is viable.
Never heard of anything like this before but have you tried moving to NG+ or getting a friend to send you their save file and see if the problem is still there? Side note but overall the pawn AI performs rather poorly in BBI compared to the main game, although not as severely as you're describing. As an example, whereas pawns usually can wander a lot farther away from you while fighting bosses (easily noticeable fighting the dragon) that doesn't happen against some of the BBI bosses like Daimon or some wandering minibosses, so if you're a ranged class they tend to just stick close and not do anything unless you periodically use the Go command
I'll try that, I was about to go into NG+ anyway. The more I think about it the more clear it becomes that it's definitely far worse in BBI, although it happened outside of BBI as well. For example on [sp]Grigori[/sp] they kinda just hopped around and did nothing most of the fight. I was leveling as a mage then so I couldn't really do much but yell at them. It seems like they perform way better on easier fights though. If I meet a pack of goblins they suddenly starts buffing, tanking and all that just like they should be, but even when fighting something harder they have two stars of experience in, they still just drop and cry like a toddler the moment they see it.
When should I go to the dock in Cassardis? That starts the DLC, right?
When should I go to the dock in Cassardis? That starts the DLC, right?
Yeah, it is. And you probably shouldn't go until after you've beaten the game.
Yeah, it is. And you probably shouldn't go until after you've beaten the game.
I'm in the post-game now
Finally got that one Macabre Sculpture in the Fortress of Remembrance. You know the one. Where you have to grab onto a flying enemy or jump off a tall enemy to get to it. And I had to do it in [sp]post-daimon[/sp] mode, so the usual harpies weren't there... :suicide: At least that's probably the hardest one.
Finally reach infinity. And I still only have the one or two beastial eyes from BBi. This drop is more elusive than Death like what the hell. Also, is there a list of pawns from other users on this forum to hire from? Hoping if I could hire some of them because I'm curious of what other people here have created.
You can find them pretty easily if someone posts up their pawn's level, vocation, and name. I found someone's fighter here super easily by just switching the filter to a certain level and vocation. Like I have a level 158 Mage named Invauld who looks like a dopey little fat man with some facial tattoos. He's set up to be a healer/cleanser/buff bot. Sadly sometimes he's an idiot and decides that, "Oh your fighting the Ur-Dragon? Lemme shout, 'Blind it with holy light!' and then give you frost weapon."
So I'm curious, which support layouts do you guys find more useful in pawns for late game/bbi? for Sorceror with high torpor, petrification removal, and enchants for Mage with grapnel n torpor, light debilitation removal, heal, and enchants Honestly sorceror's been more of a help vs big guys since they always torpor them, while my mage almost never uses grapnel no matter the inclinations.

I got my pawn a full gold rarefied eraklis, holy shit this weapon rocks. Every time it hits, it has a 20%~ chance to crit for 7x damage, and since DD uses subtractive armor that can be a FUCKLOAD. Against a cursed dragon, if he gets a crit, he takes off an entire health bar, and he can hit multiple times per swing, especially if using stuff like exodus slash. He actually does more damage to bosses than I do sometimes. Also he's only level 100. I really wish there was a useful healing spell for lategame but it's just so fucking slow it's useless.

I just got to post-dragon with my warrior at level 45~ and just one shot the Evil Eye with an Arc of Deliverance crit when it was downed. And I agree, Anodyne at higher levels is pretty useless. It heals way too slow, waste time when the mage stops to heal pawns constantly and leaves a big green fart cloud around your character in the case of High Anodyne, making it hard to see sometimes. I should really just start hiring Sorcerers.

They only unlocked it from the start for the pc version.
Keep in mind hard mode was originally locked 'til you beat the game. They only unlocked it from the start for the pc version.
But someone new to the game probably wouldn't know that.
But someone new to the game probably wouldn't know that.
Pretty sure that when you select hard mode it gives a prompt saying something like it's for experienced DD players, but at least once someone finds out how difficult it is they can switch to normal difficulty without losing any progress.
Keep in mind hard mode was originally locked 'til you beat the game. They only unlocked it from the start for the pc version.
Was it? I remember on the PS3 version I started a second character before finishing the game and picking hard mode. Got my ass kicked for like an hour and switched back to normal :v:
FINALLY got an Ur-Dragon grace kill. None of the gear is even relevant to me anymore, I just wanted to kill it for the sake of experiencing it. grace period by the way
Was it? I remember on the PS3 version I started a second character before finishing the game and picking hard mode. Would someone mind explaining the Ur-Dragon to me?
Would someone mind explaining the Ur-Dragon to me?
It's a big dragon that has all of it's health on a capcom server. When someone fights it, the damage they have done to it gets uploaded to the server. Grace period is when it's almost dead. you get loot if you kill it or just help in killing it.
Would someone mind explaining the Ur-Dragon to me?
big honkin' huge dragon that every player can fight at any time in post game or new game +. it's got a fuckoff huge health bar and all the players work together to chip away at its health and destroy its many hearts until it dies. if you go in and put in any damage on the dragon then once it dies you'll get mad loot, but to get the maddest loot, you have to put it a lot of rounds, or be there when it dies. when it dies it enters "grace period" where it's super easy to kill and anyone who kills it will get 20 wakestones and rad items. the grace period is pretty short so you either need to be watching for it or get lucky and jump in whenever it's in grace. but the best way to get all that mad loot is to help everyone destroy it so there's more people doing damage. each generation gets more health but sometimes the generation is "squishy" meaning it's pretty weak and goes really fast. [editline]7th February 2016[/editline] ok i got ninja'd but mine has better terminology like "maddest" and "rad" so
Of course there's finally a Grace when i'm around and my fucking game refuses to launch.
Finally went back to the dragon by the Shadow Fort. Made me feel real good taking out full bars of health with my Arc of Deliverance.
I have so many wakestones I don't think I'll bother with curatives anymore. Hiring pawns doesn't get rid of them fast enough.
Well, got lucky and restarting Steam fixed the problem and i managed to kill it during Grace for the first time, got an Ascalon, Lustrous Greatshield, Siegfriend mask, Volant White and the boots, arms and chest of the Abyssinal set. Pretty happy with it, all things considered, especially since bumping the Greatshield by 1 star made it better than the shield i'd just Dragonforged.
btw, is exploring Everfall part of the story? I want to go in there but I want to make sure I do everything I can before moving on in the story so I dont lock myself out of stuff
btw, is exploring Everfall part of the story? Which one do I get locked out of?
