I played through the game on hard mode as my first experience. I like to think it put hair on my chest.
The main game ain't that bad on hard, you can play it like the souls games with more running away. But bitterblack on hard is straight up garbage.

Unless you're playing Warrior, then you play it like Guts.

Bitterblack doesn't change with difficulty, it's always the same

I'm pretty sure I got dealt dumb ass damage in BBI and my stamina dissappeared as fast as in the mainland in Hard mode.

He's right, Bitterblack isn't effected by difficulty, it's just garbage.
I switched my sorc pawn from holy affinity to fulmination and suddenly I get 5-8 hires a day rather than -1

That's because holy is one of the least useful affinities.
That's because holy is one of the least useful affinities.
Holy is pretty much the go-to for post game, most of the big monsters are weak to it and Buttblasted Isle is full of zambos.

The thing is, most players who will hire your pawn won't be playing that island. We all love it here because we love the game but the average player won't find holy to be useful at all.

Lightning is better for eliminators, garm and elder ogres, holy is only really useful for shutting down phantasms, most zombies melt to your insane DPS.
Only exception is poison zombies which are weak to ice as well, so if they're a concern you can run ice instead of lightning since ice counters poison zombies and eliminators really well (freezing them can let you kill them a LOT faster) Strigoi are also vulnerable to ice so it can be a decent choice there.
Holy is sort of a red herring in that it gives you roughly the same damage bonus towards most BBI enemies, but doesn't have the perk of thundershock (decent length stun) or freeze (really fucking long stun)
They're all gud choices though.
While Holy is great on BBI, Dark is what to use on Maneaters, they're Weak to that and have a high resistance to Holy.

It's probably more just that Fulmination is an excellent support spell, and that's what most people generally want from mage/sorcerer pawns.
I carry throwblasts for those assholes. Way more convenient.
I like passing off throwblasts to pawns
They use them at hilarious times, I caught my warrior throwing them at phantasms.
Good job buddy

I don't know where people would be at around level 150 but there and the [sp]Ur-Dragon[/sp]. And holy is by far the best element, Ice is good too and Lightning does get better in bbl than it was outside.
use [sp]
DD2 would be actually cool, DDO doesn't look that great.
Imagine DD:DA but with a hell of a lot more features from a sequel. My mind can't handle it.
There are many things I'd like to see if we get a sequel, but honestly at the top of the list at least right now: a method of having Pawn inclinations sticking permanently or scrapping that system entirely for something else.
Don't mind me, bitter about having to use elixirs to keep my Sorcerer at Utilitarian/Challenger
I'd like to see a lot more types of weapons than just swords, daggers and bows. And clubs but they play 100% the same as swords anyway.
Although they'd probably have to beak up the current vocation system a bit for that. Not that I'd mind tbh.
Also balance would be nice.

Also, I'm fucking sick of every game having to have Multiplayer smashed into it, like seriously, Dragon's Dogma is one of those games that DOES NOT NEED IT, the pawn system is enough.

I completely disagree, Dragon's Dogma would be fucking great with co-op

Pawns fucking around and not doing what you want can be infuriating, having a coop partner or two to actually coordinate attacks during boss fights would be sick. I think DD is a game that would benefit greatly from multiplayer.

Pretty much any game with AI buddies in improved by replacing them with actual people.
The pawn ai is actually fantastic if you train them right, but it's still nothing compared to actual co-op. Are pawns even a thing in DDO?
It'd be interesting to see something like the original DD for the main campaign and a BBI type dungeon crawler area you can do with other players.
you get a main pawn in ddo but iirc you only have pawns if its 2 players or solo, otherwise players fill in the roles i think?
So it's like cats in Monster Hunter, cool.

Agreed. Let's not pretend it doesn't end up taking away from the main game either. Even if you get another team to do it it's still eating up time and money that could have gone back into the campaign. Maybe it's because I'm getting older and most of my friends and I have full time jobs now, but I don't really give a damn about coop/MP anymore.
Coop is fun when you're at that point in your life when all your friends buy everything, but it eventually slows down and you come to appreciate a well crafted SP experience more.
I agree for other games that have a crafted single player experience, but you have to admit Dragon's Dogma isn't that type of game. With the way Pawns are, it's pretty much already a multiplayer style game, just with AI in the place of other players.
I beat [sp]Daimon version 2[/sp]! And it was... way easier than I was expecting. Maybe I was overleveled, being at 170? All I did was go through the main game, go through it again on hard, go through BBI on normal, and go through BBI [sp]post Daimon[/sp].
I mean I also got some pretty great gear and upgraded it as much as I could but still
The main reason I went through the main game again on hard was because I thought I would need a lot of wakestones from [sp]Everfall post-dragon[/sp], but I can count with my fingers how many wakestones I actually ended up using. Probably due to all of the levels I gained from hard mode.
Maybe I should go through BBI and BBI [sp]post-Daimon[/sp] again on hard mode...
Wait, how much have I played this since it came out?
130 hours!?
jesus christ I need to move on to something else
like sleeping and eating
Imagine DD:DA but with a hell of a lot more features from a sequel. My mind can't handle it.
Hopefully with more boss variation.
And I don't mean just "even MORE cyclops clones".

Inclinations being split into categories would be great, so you don't have to prioritize "hits things" and "hits more things" over "also doesn't stand right under big thing's foot".
Stuff like "Target: Strongest - Weakest - Ranged", "Attack range: Climb - Close - Mid - Far", and "Combat focus: Killing - Mixed - Support".
I'd like more complexity on inclinations actually, but without buggy ones (like guardian and nexus being fucking retarded) and a better way to handle it (elixirs are okay but we really need a way to lock inclinations)
