Man, I'm glad you can edit your save and get rid of [sp]the darkness[/sp] in post game. Only took me 10 minutes to get tired of [sp]NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE ANYTHING[/sp]
The pawn ai is actually fantastic if you train them right, but it's still nothing compared to actual co-op. Are pawns even a thing in DDO?
Have you gone through bbl? Because I cannot figure out if my game is broken or if pawn AI is just so bad a beaten toddler would perform better.
Have you gone through bbl? Because I cannot figure out if my game is broken or if pawn AI is just so bad a beaten toddler would perform better.
I've been going through BBI with just my pawn and another FP'ers pawn, both fighters. We destroy that area, even post-daimon.
Welp then I have no idea what's wrong with mine. I can't find any help no matter how much I search.
Have you gone through bbl? Because I cannot figure out if my game is broken or if pawn AI is just so bad a beaten toddler would perform better.
They get significantly better the more they gain enemy knowledge.
They get significantly better the more they gain enemy knowledge.
On last boss in BBL all three pawns had 3 stars and perfect inclinations(according to wikis and forums) and they didn't even attack it once. If I hit "go" they'd look at it, maybe shoot an ordinary arrow then go back to wobbling around.
A well trained fighter pawn can also perfect block most attacks. I've had pawns before that were able to stand in a group of three eliminators and not get hit one because it was perfect blocking like crazy.

They mostly suck vs daimon, and they're useless against certain stuff (strigoi and phantasms come to mind) but against other enemies well trained pawns with good inclinations can fucking destroy BBI mobs. My warrior for example can go toe to toe with cursed dragons and only needs to be picked up about twice per fight, while doing comparable DPS to me. I've hired loads of pawns that can just wipe the floor with elder ogres and eliminators, and I've gone into fights expecting to burn 3-4 wakestones only to have the pawns utterly destroy large groups of cursed pawns/hellhounds. I think the issue is Dark Arisen didn't get a good AI programmer, enemies that are found in the stock game go down easy (ogres, undead, cyclops, dragons) but new enemies tend to fuck with the AI (daimon, death, haunted armor)
Cursed dragons just breaks them for me. I can have a pawn with utilitarian and medicator heal and buff perfectly fine when I fight goblins but when he/she sees a cursed dragon they just break down and stop functioning. Not a single spellcast the entire fight, just casually run around and get knocked over. Archers refuse to shoot and tank won't even engage.

Warriors and fighters get confused, but with aggressive inclinations they'll do decently, they need good knowledge to know how to block/avoid attacks though. Don't expect them to funciton 100% of the time, but they should do decently. I find a good strategy is to hit "go" when the dragon goes down, to encourage your pawns to lay into the heart. Archers are weird, I've had some perform amazingly (it was a Challenger/Scather I think?) and others just miss every shot. Keep in mind cursed dragons debilitate your pawns a lot, curse + poison + reduced stats all get laid on you if you get hit by a poison breath, so if they get hit by those their DPS tends to drop. Spells also matter a LOT vs cursed dragons, high comestion and high frigor tend to work really well, and I've seen decent success with high bolide pawns, but they tend to get confused with buff spells vs cursed dragons. [editline]12th February 2016[/editline] I'm tempted to record myself taking down a cursed dragon with pawns supporting well, cursed dragons are tricky but once you learn the fight and change your behaviour your pawns will also generally do better since you're positioned more optimally. I've fought over 50 if you combine my totals from xbox and PC so I'm sort of an expert on the bastards. It's the kind of fight where if you fuck up repeatedly it just crushes you, but if you know what to do and you pay attention you can take them down fairly easy, it's honestly one of my favourite fights in BBI (other stuff I really enjoy fighting is mini gorecyclopes and eliminators, now I've figured out the strategies)
It's not just that they perform badly, but that they simply don't do anything. If I can actually get my sorc pawn to cast she runs into melee range of the huge enemy, begins to channel then cancels it. Why would they do this? The weird AI is different on every large enemy but in general they only do the things they really should never ever be doing. [editline]12th February 2016[/editline] Not to mention pure healing pawns and sorc pawns climbing enemies a lot.
When your pawn cancels it's because of one of two things 1) They think they need to avoid an attack 2) You moved outside their tether range 1) is hard to deal with because pawns position themselves terribly, the more they fight a certain mob the better they get at guessing when they need to dodge, but they never get it perfect. Torporing an enemy will help them guess dodges a LOT better, so casters will flip out less and finish spells. Assigning shorter spells will also prevent them cancelling as often. 2) can be mitigated by turning them into a pioneer (but this is risky since they'll run off more often against other enemies) and by sticking to them. The tricky part is positioning yourself such that you're close enough to your pawns that they don't hit the tether range, but being positioned well against the boss so they're out of the line of fire from the bosses hits (so they don't get hit/try to dodge) Climbing happens based on a few particular inclinations, (your third, hidden inclination can cause it too) utilitarian tends to make pawns climb more (which is annoying since you need it to make them buff) and I think scather or maybe challenger increases how often it happens as well. Nexus is actually slightly useful on a heal pawn since they'll focus on buffing/healing pawns as well, honestly I find it better than them focusing on you because their heal behaviour is annoying, if I want to heal I'll run to an anodyne, I don't need it constantly cast on me. [editline]12th February 2016[/editline] http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Pawn_Inclination_troubleshooting This is really useful for debugging your AI, it won't make it perfect but shit HELPS yo
Thanks for the stuff, I'll read up on that. The main problem is individual for each type of pawn though and it makes no sense for them either. I'm gonna try dropping utilitarian on my sorc pawn entirely and see if she stops trying to hug the boss, but then she may not spellsync with me. Why the other classes simply won't even recognize battle is completely beyond me though. I'm also gonna try filming it in the future since I finally got the windows recorder to work again. [editline]12th February 2016[/editline] Basically it sounds like my sorc has a hardcore version of scather, despite not having it at all. It sounds like the archers and tanks have scather and guardian combined, but they have neither, etc etc. As for why a support with medicant/utilitarian would break down and refuse to buff and heal throughout the entire fight is completely beyond me. They also freaking love the "magic agent" skill, they love it so much that it's the only thing they cast when they're broken down.

I should probably read.
No she's not. I fixed that a long time ago, which is why I don't get why they're doing the exact opposite of what they should, though usually they're not doing anything at all.
If only you could like take them to some kind of Pawnwrangler at a Pawn Ranch or something and be like "make them do this and not eat shit in the process."
If only you could like take them to some kind of Pawnwrangler at a Pawn Ranch or something and be like "make them do this and not eat shit in the process."
Or aside from inclinations lets us set priority in skills so my pawn will stop spamming Dazzle Blast when she can just unload a Tenfold Flurry.
What the fuck just happened. So I saw that Ur-Dragon gen 48 was at like half a healthbar so I went in and tried doing it, attacked it for a bit then left, came back and it was in grace so I got the kill. Left again and slept at the inn, came back, gen 49 was in grace, got another kill :v: That was an easy way to get 5 levels. Got Heaven's Keys too!
I think what would be ideal for me would be a Dragon Age: Origins sort of Tactics system. Similar thing there, AI could function on their own but were kinda retarded but with the right Tactics layout could be absolute monsters.
I just want coop for springboard shenanigans. Imagine recreating the scene in the FF7 AC movie where everyone kinda boosts Cloud into the sky to slamdunk the enemy - for anyone who hasn't seen it everyone is in a tower, on different levels, and cloud kinda hops from one person to the next, progressively getting higher and higher until he enters anime speeds.

Ur Dragon gets different defence values each generation, so it's probably just that he was weak on that one. There's a damage cap on every fight with him so its not really possible to cheat him that way.
Haven't played in two weeks and all i got was one damn hire for my pawn and a thousand RC. Prolly caused i switched her to Warrior but damn people come on now
My only hire for my pawn netted me 57k RC and I haven't needed RC more since.
I noticed the less I play, the less my pawn gets hired. So maybe the frequency of your pawn showing up for other players is related to the play activity of the arisen!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I noticed that pawn rankings heavily increase when the owner plays for at least an hour. Some of my friends haven't played for weeks and their pawns are in the upper 100000s. Another friend was in the 40ks and then after a night of playing he was in the upper 20ks. I even noticed my own pawn increasing about 10k ranks as I play and decreasing as I stay logged off.
i finally killed [sp]daimon's second form[/sp], only took 400 blast arrows. don't really know what to do now, i guess ill try and get all the achievements or something
My only hire for my pawn netted me 57k RC and I haven't needed RC more since.
I had ~40k RC and I thought I was set for life... then I got to BBI :v: Now I never have enough.
Purified two cursed armors and I was like dis gon be gud And I got 2 crested armguards. [sp]I already have 2 dragonforged crested armguards ;_;[/sp] [editline]16th February 2016[/editline]
I had ~40k RC and I thought I was set for life... then I got to BBI :v: Now I never have enough.
I'm sitting on 2.5 mill and not really struggling. Although I did churn through a bunch after I killed daimon 1.0, lots of level 3 stuff to fix
Oh man, there's a mod that makes it so the game doesn't auto-pause when you alt tab. (Among doing other things) I can finally do other things instead of just watching the "Accessing Server" bar slowly move every time I rest at an inn.
So I was thinking of buying myself this game if I passed the 2 exams I did. It seems I managed to pass both so I'm gonna buy this soon.
