We're doing it again. The ever terrible Dota2 HD mod DLC Extravaganza. This is simply an update to it. -This contains new files and updates for the following. blood seeker dazzle earth spirit elder titan ember spirit enigma invoker legion commander (including arcana) outworld devourer (I actually screwed up and forgot to fix the pixelly fresnelterms and he looked bad because of it. This will fix that along with other minor edits) pedestal (because why not) phoenix puck storm_spirit terrorblade (including arcana. Same res though) vengeful wraith_king (rip in peace mr spooky bones) Only one download this time. Just curious, what exactly is possible with mods? Can you remake/replace the base model with one of your own? If it's similar to the original the cosmetics should still work fine?

I could be wrong though, the only modelling experience I have is from lurking the TF2 mode emporium for like 2 years and not actually modelling. I know that you can replace the models though because there's anime mods for storm spirit and juggernaut. Also there's plenty of model replacements here like old pudge/axe/venomancer/lion model, and the classic anti-mage model that was discussed a few posts ago. [editline]24th February 2014[/editline] For mods though, you can do things like particles, huds, loading screens, cosmetic replacements, model replacements, reskins/recolors of models, sound mods, resources like spell icons and the tiny hero pictures that show in game next to day/night clock, etc. Pretty much everything in dota and other source games can be modded somehow, but a few of them only work in local matches and will break online (that's why the classic skeleton king mod can't be finished). I have nvidia shadowplay, but dunno if it's worth trying, and fraps makes the videos low quality for some reason.

I don't think anybody has a link to any of the alpha versions of the games, or the models, or they've had already done it because the bane one is something a lot of people like. Someone would probably have to model it from scratch or something.

You don't type -snd_rebuildaudiocache in steam launch options. You enable the in game console by typing "-console" in the launch options, and then press the console key in game (which I think is "\" by default) and then type "snd_rebuildaudiocache" into the console. But very important thing to do first before doing the "snd_rebuildaudiocache" command is that it's slightly bugged so that it removes all of your sounds that are not in your steam folder because it's like not trying to read the vpk or something, so you have to go into the "steamapps/common/dota 2 beta/dota" folder and open "pak01_dir.vpk" and "sound_vo_english_dir.vpk" (you need to have the voice files in the steam folder so that most of the heroes' mouths move in the portrait once you rebuild cache) and take all of the sounds out of the sound folder, then move it into your steam "dota 2 beta/dota/sound" folder. Make sure you have any sound mods that those files may replaced backed up though so that you don't accidentally replace them. Once you place the default sounds into your dota folder, place the backed up sound mods and replace the ones you want to have as mods. Then once you do all that you can type the command into the console. The game will stop responding for a while because it's rebuilding the cache, so just alt tab out or do something else while you wait for it to respond again.

I'm wondering if it would be possible to somehow access the cosmetics items in a local game. Tried this on both test client and live client. Any help would be appreciated

I just through rebuildaudiocache was totally broken in dota and royally fucked the sound cache altogether.

If some scripts aren't updated, it can mess up the heroes. I believe npc_heroes.txt is the one that enables and disables the heroes in the selection.

Speaking of cosmetics, how difficult would it be to recolor silencer's cosmetics to be red and fit with the silencer mod. I have basically no textuing experience.

"You NEED the script file installed for this mod to work." And when I tried it in game, there was no sound on any of the effects.
