Is it the fact most of the walls are destructible from the outside? I'd understand that reason but I kind of hope that's not why people dislike it. I wouldn't mind at least one map where that kind of gameplay is allowed and encouraged (it's one reason why I like Hannover Club). It is a cramped, confusing mess though no doubt.
imo
- too confusing due to a lot of vertical areas
- too many destructible walls
- entrances that go outside which you cant barricade
- outside is too cluttered which makes it hard to find cameras
- too difficult to get to certain areas as you have to rappel down a wall and then back up another one
- even less landmarks to go by than the other R6 maps. One gripe I have with R6:S is that they didn't really think about how easy the maps are to learn so they made a lot of useless or extra rooms that make sense if the map was meant to be realistic but makes it tedious or hard in a gameplay aspect.
Border is okay and I'm liking skyscraper so far. But Yacht and Favelas are...urgh
My order of fav DLC maps:
Skyscraper > Yacht > Border > Literally anything else > Favelas.
The main issue with Favelas is that, at the time of making it, the devs had this idea that players genuinely wanted more destructible maps. It's part of the design philosophy that went into Border as well, though Border isn't as extreme.
Favela's main issue is, like others have stated, the vast majority of breachable walls from the outside. It is genuinely impossible to play bomb (the competitive standard) and reinforce every outside wall. It gives defenders an even larger disadvantage. This is why comp teams won't touch it with a ten foot pole. This doesn't help the fact that the map is incredibly small and cramped on the inside. The defenders get stuck with shit up their ass while the attackers get free reign from all around the building.
It basically shits on the design philosophy that every other map takes full advantage of and then some, the only outlier being plane with it's tight spaces, though it makes up for it by giving you long sightlines and traps. Plane SHOULD feel more claustrophobic than Favelas, but it isn't. You have much more room to breath.
Compare each and every map and you'll see why Favelas doesn't fit within the games level design. It's so radically different that it just doesn't work. It really should be reworked to better fit it with maps like Chalet, Bank, Kafe, Kanal, and Hereford.
This is why I love Skyscraper so much. I really think they nailed the level design this time around. There' just enough destruction to keep defenders cozy yet on their feet. The attackers have great points to attack from and the rappel zones keep them pretty well secure from eager defenders. The defenders also have plenty of room to flank and plenty of rooms to roam while feeling somewhat secure. The upstairs areas are tight and maze-like, yet the downstairs bar area is pretty wide open, while the bedroom section and back kitchen gives attackers many open angles to attack from. Skyscraper feels like a vanilla map.
I know Skyscraper map more than Favela. Favel just seems like a clusterfuck of rooms and I haven't done a proper walkthrough of it yet.

The only reason I hate the map is because I don't know it.
This is completely wrong.
If someone is sitting, staring at a corner and someone else moves around the corner to shoot them, the one moving has the advantage. This means, as a defender, you need to be aware of where the enemy is coming from and make your own moving peek. Sitting still, starting at a corner, waiting for an enemy to come around it will get you killed 99% of the time, and the 1% is luck/them fucking up.
I guess I've dealt with idiots 90% of the time then because I've never managed to get a decent peek kill and staying still has always kept me alive.

he's talking about peeker's advantage which is present in a lot of fps games like this one and cs:go. The netcode favors the peeker by a few frames, it's very small but it matters in games with quick kills.
[editline]29th November 2016[/editline]
if you look on reddit/youtube you'll find a lot of videos on it for cs:go, the same concept applies to r6:s though.

Usually if you're both at a distance from each other the peeker will get the drop on you but in close encounters it's very rare that peeking is a guaranteed advantage. You definitely don't want to do it up close due to the noise.
You can't really peek to ID where the enemy is then attempt to peek & shoot afterwards if they know where you are since they're most likely going to fire at that exact spot or just suppress and move away. The advantage is there but it's still quite situational.
Peeking would be a lot less helpful if the netcode wasn't batshit. I've got footage of someone peeking/spraying at me and from my perspective I literally didn't see him exit the door more than once whereas the killcam showed him dipping in and out of view 3 times.

Peeker's advantage doesn't necessarily have to do with bad netcode though. Good netcode can make it better but can't get rid of it entirely, and Siege already has pretty good netcode.
Pings have a huge impact on peeker's advantage. Your ping + your enemy's ping is the minimum time for a peeker's scenario.
If you have a 63 ping and your enemy has a 81 ping, all your actions are going to be seen at least 144ms later on the other end. This can't be fixed by netcode, it's a physical limitation with online play.
Favelas is fucking horrible, and to make matters worse, I've had a mysterious FPS drop after Red Crow and my usually 100+ FPS now struggles to meet 60. Getting Favelas at night is unplayable for me.
I find Favela to be one of my favourite maps. I love how close range everything is and I love how many walls you can blow up to make a bunch of different pathways everywhere. It's pretty much the best way for making your own paths for flanking enemies and shit.
Are premium operators resistant to flashbang? Cause I'm pretty tired of getting instagibbed by someone who literally ate a flashbang half a second ago.
Flashbangs are weird, unless they land right under their feet or in their direct line of sight, they're pretty much ignored.
Had a flashbang land about a meter from me but a piece of map rubble saved me from the effect.
I've started to throw them into the actual door rather than into the room cause there's a bigger chance they're looking at the door and therefore get flashed.
Fuck it. Time to stay away from multiplayer.
Having all my guns do 0 damage with 0 accuracy is a little bit hardcore for my taste.
Did they say from the start that the "season pass" is actually just a single year's pass?
Did they say from the start that the "season pass" is actually just a single year's pass?
yes and i dont know any season pass that doesnt only last for a year

Did Four Seasons have a monopoly on the name?
Managed to get a flawless victory on my first casual game by playing the BOPE operators [sp]rsrsrsrsrsrs[/sp] by mowing down a room with a LMG & a grenade while somehow missing the hostage on attack, and roaming & dicking around with the sneak ability on defend :v
[vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/fvmduv.webm[/vid]
I probably can't bring these rookies luck to high level play but I am enjoying the game so far!

This isn't true in any way
Tossed a grenade thru a hibana hole and heard it hit the guy in the face before blowing him and another to bits

Losing every gunfight is hardly a "fun" part. At least for me.
Shit isn't right when I shoot someone pointblank with a shotgun only for him to turn around and instakill me with a single pistol round.

and yes they did, but it wasnt clear they're gonna do a 2nd year
The Year 2 season pass is out on steam btw, and will include operators from Spain, China(hong kong), Israel and South Korea. That was leaked by Ubisoft China
Nothing in there about new maps :/
I'm assuming that, since the new maps are free regardless whether you own the season pass or not, they decided not to include it in the description.

Would have preferred Egyptians Unit 777 over Israel tbh. Still looking forward to this.
I skipped season 1 as I felt it wasn't worth it at the time. Think I'm going to get the second one though.
Apparently these are the south Korean counter-terrorism units

Tip : Caveira has the ability to interrogate enemies. Get close to an injured enemy and you will get a prompt to do it. If completed, it gives your whole team wallhacks for a few seconds.
I recently got the game and I keep getting matched with four other <20's against teams of >150's, how do I make not do that
