[sp]You don't get the rifle if you kill him then, only if you kill him earlier. The items you get from the quest are the items he stole from your camp.[/sp]
[sp]he throws the rifle on the ground after he runs out of ammo, it's extremely hard to see but it's near the spot where he shoots at you[/sp]
I have reached the swamp.
I wish to leave the swamp.
I beat the game few days back. [sp] was very underwhelmed with the ending. till i cheated and looked up what i was actually meant to do in that sequence. good god that's exactly the ending I was hoping for. great stuff. [/sp]
i've started a 2nd run. had no idea the game world was randomly generated for each run and spent like a full minute just staring at my new map going "wait a second something's not right here...." I'm gonna try and fix all the mistakes I did before but I already screwed up with the musician again [sp]I forgot to put his drawing in his mother's inventory. what happens if I do that??[/sp] I'm already back to the swamp, but this time I actually have a proper inventory

mmm so good. Now to try again with [sp]the wolfman[/sp]

[sp]Only difference with the musician as far as I know is that the parents won't turn into chompers and attack you on the way out. No story related developments?[/sp]
Delete centipedes.
Also I wish those fucking eye holes would shut the fuck up oh my god they're SO LOUD

[sp]although Musician survives chapter 1 if you kill the chompers, which afaik you can't do unless you forget to put the card in his mother's inventory[/sp]

I have bad news

[sp]Putting the note into the mothers inventory means the chompers won't attack but the musician will die the next day. This is bad, cause the musician can be found in your fourth hideout after you've helped the lost elephant child.[/sp]
Also, it sucks that you can't actually help the old guy in the wheel chair. I brought the fucker 2 tires but he didn't want em.
oh for fuck sake [sp]came out from the holes in the swamp and saw a savage poking at something behind a wheelbarrow. snuck up on him and axed him and then suddenly my game saved. got confused and went to loot the body and it said "dead doctor". god dammit lmao I didn't mean to kill him. guess I'm not gonna find out how that was meant to end this run then[/sp]
So I've been recording videos of myself playing Darkwood, and I thought this part at 51:45 was pretty funny (no spoilers unless you don't want to see the layout of the 1st hideout):

I went to the top of the swamp and [sp]killed the slug.
Was there a way to not kill it? The dialogue implied you could free it but I couldn't find a way to do so[/sp]

[sp]In front of the snails stomach there is a protruding hand thing, which when you interact with will have a key. This key opens the nearby door, allowing you to pass through the passage previously blocked by the eye creature (since opening the door allows you to pass without the eye creature closing). You can then destroy this organ-like thing which is seemingly responsible for the snail being stuck, thus freeing it.[/sp]
I like how the savefiles just list your day counter. it's cool to see just how much faster your subsequent runs get from when you first started and were just wasting so much time cluelessly wandering about lol

how many days was everyone's first run anyways?
I'm nearly at 40 and I'm not done yet.
I feel close though.

Around 35, with a lot of misfortunes on the way D:
Anyway, about your mentions a few comments back on losing to the Wolfman. Did you happen to notice the note with a "gift" he leaves you? :D
You can also get his Assault Rifle even if you lose.
Is there a lot of repeatability to this? I have £10 on steam and can't decide between this and dark messiah, with darkwood it also feels like I have a lot of similar games, stuff like zomboid and cdda which I have been playing recently
Go with Darkwood. Dark Messiah is fun and all but at this point it's really clunky compared to other first-person melee games and it's showing its age.
On my first day found the wedding and shat a brick. Followed up by getting super spoop'd during the first night.
This game is incredible, I'm not far into it but the way it handles horror is downright masterful. It's the type of horror where it is genuinely terrifying but keeps making me want to come back for more.
Hello hello i'm bumping this thread to have a massive spoiler discussion
Ok i'm fucking convinced that the entire games situation is caused 100% by an alien dropped from a Meteorite, that fucking thing or The Being as the wiki calls it is simply just an alien cunt come to fuck up Eastern Europe. This would then put the persective of the military being able to fight it back but also having a hard time doing so.
Don't turn on the lights in the safehouses
modding is one hell of a drug.

Yo wtf
what is this
whats going on fam
modding
yeah, is there anywhere more stuff like this being posted? I've never heard of darkwood modding before
I explain what exactly I'm doing in the comments section of this thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Darkwood/comments/a4q72o/modding_is_one_hell_of_a_drug/
I posted the same thing on there because I wanted some feedback on the description layout and also to gauge how interested people would be in a "mod" like this to decide how much effort I should put into this - or if I should even release it in the first place.
Oh man thats cool
I fully support this and I also agree that even though the mysterious descriptions did fit the game they didn't help at all. Having actual numbers to back up items would be great, especially useful for deciding wether those weapon upgrades are worth it
