You gotta remember, your truck is pulling tons and tons of equipment. It's a heavy load, it takes a while for it to slow down. It's not gonna act like a a small car. I always give myself more than necessary space and i start slowing down in advance.

I don't think that's it. Because I used to use the Xbox Controller and I'm using the same truck as I was before. It's like the pedals are not nearly as sensitive as they should be or like stuck on a "Gradual slowing down" speed or something. Gotta figure it out tomorrow. I have ALWAYS had a HUGE issue trying to customize my controls. The lack of any guidance into what the settings do sucks. Sensitive for example. Is down or up more or less? There is no indication into how sensitive or lack therefore of the slider will make steering or something. Or what is the dead zone? I have a basic understanding but there is still this magic quality to it because I don't know how to make it do what I want to even though it appears it should. It has always been this ordeal for me. Also there is no break sensitivity or acceleration sensitivity slider. Just the deadzone one.
when in the controls screen you can use your analog control inputs and there are visual feedbacks, so you can tune your sensitivity and deadzone settings. Deadzone is the percentage of input that should be ignored - if the game is receiving input on an axis when you have centered that control, you should increase the deadzone. Again, the visual feedbacks in the control dialogs can tell you when the game is registering an input.
This games fun. I driver more crazier than I do in GTA tho.
The only downside is the pedals don't work as dramatically as they should. For example when I say "Oh shit" and slam on the breaks to avoid a car stopping on the highway, instead of jerking to a stop it's more of a "Oh, here comes a red-light better start to leasurely slow down" Same with acceleration. Feels like I can't push past 30MPH without going down a hill.
Welcome to the world of hauling around 40 tons of stuff. The keyword here is "Inertia". It takes ages to build up speed. As to the braking distance, I've looked up some numbers, and for a fully loaded 40 ton lorry stopping from 55mph they range from almost 100m to as little as 43m. It all depends on the circumstances. It might be that the braking distances are a bit too long in the game. Theoretically, a lorry can stop on a dime just like any Porsche. Greater weight pressing down on bigger wheels with bigger brake discs makes for the same stopping power. However, the greater mass of lorry brake discs takes far longer to cool down, so in a lorry, you're more likely to have your brake discs at an elevated temperature at any given time. And with hot brake discs, braking distances increase dramatically. Maybe they were thinking about that when they made the game. Or maybe they had no idea of driving physics and were just like "Heavy truck must take longer to stop because it's heavy duh." https://cdkeyshere.com/ It's a Turkish company and the business appears a little sketchy, what with the strange payment procedures (you have to give them a mobile phone number to which they send you an SMS with a code that you have to enter even if you want to pay with paypal). And then they send you a link to a photo of a CD key from a boxed version, but it worked alright for me.

I wish there were more map mods to expand on the major towns and A roads.

Sounds like your pedals aren't calibrated correctly, that full depression isn't being passed as 100% to the game.
What happens if you don't sleep when you're tired?
What happens if you don't sleep when you're tired?
From what i noticed, you start yawning at first, then your eyes occasionally close so cant see anything. after that happened i headed to services and slept
I wish there were more map mods to expand on the major towns and A roads.
Give it time, it's only been out like a week.
I'm fairly sure using the ferry fully rests the driver. Also, I bought the second cheapest Renault truck, (I think its the Magnum or something). It doesn't require any levels and its only about 115,000 euros, and it accelerates pretty well, especially after some modifications. I can't fucking wait till I can get the racing trucks in this games! EDIT: Obligatory Vroom Vroom noises.

Is there a limiter remover with no other mods combined?
There you go. https://rapidshare.com/files/4207592123/speedlimitoff.scs
Is there a limiter remover with no other mods combined?
Yes, there is. It's a few pages back.
Would it be actually possible to make new roads or edit the map? I'd love it if people attempted to make a more proper sized City of London or Manchester, not to scale of course.
I think i prefer quick jobs to freighting. Since i need to drive to the pickup and then the dropoff, and theres only a slight margin of profit after fuel and more than likely fines are calculated [editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
Would it be actually possible to make new roads or edit the map?
Long distance freighting can earn you way more than quick jobs.
I make 25,000 on a BAD JOB 40,000+ and even with my speeding tickets and gas I make a huge profit. Also I fixed my wheel and pedal setup so everything is good to go.
Where to buy and how much is this game?
Carbon Aero body and Pro-level nitrous boost?
The stripes man, they make it go faster. EDIT: Also, I just free roamed from Amsterdam to Bratislava, twas fun. I like the exploration aspect of this game.
Just went 153 km/h down a french highway, these trucks can reach some crazy speeds, even with cargo.
Would it be actually possible to make new roads or edit the map? I'd love it if people attempted to make a more proper sized City of London or Manchester, not to scale of course.
There must be some kind of very easy to use map editor... I can't find the post anymore, but someone was complaining about unrealistic petrol station layouts and showed screenshots of something he claimed to have thrown together in 20 minutes. It looked pretty good. Also, there is an awesome map of Germany for the German Truck Simulator out there that has all the important Autobahns and even some country roads, and one that has almost all of Western Europe, but unfortunately the cities and roads are off by a few dozen to over 100km's on that map. [editline]2nd November 2012[/editline]
Just went 153 km/h down a french highway, these trucks can reach some crazy speeds, even with cargo.
I remember seing a lorry (just the tractor) behind me in real life about 10 years ago that was overtaking cars on a country road. I did 120kph and could barely get away from it at that speed.
Why did they speed cap the trucks in the first place.
Why did they speed cap the trucks in the first place.
Becuse trucks actually have speed limiters on them.
