There's a speed limit on all trucks. There's also a mod to remove it a few pages back.
Thanks! I'm new in this simulator, and I was like !@#!# when playing it, I want to fly like a car, it was really fun!, Thanks again for the info.
i dont have a clutch pedal, is that a problem or is there auto clutch?
There is auto clutch, but not if you want to use an H shifter.
Also, manual clutching is really weird in this game. It won't let you rev up with the clutch only half enganged, so you always end up nearly stalling the engine when you're pulling away after a stop.
[editline]5th November 2012[/editline]
Also, you can't pull away in idle, not even in 1st gear without a trailer - you'll stall the engine no matter how careful you move the clutch pedal. That's ridiculous.
What clutch are you using? I just ordered a G27 wondering of this will be an issue.
it's not really an issue, and it's not related to the pedals you use.
it takes a bit getting used to but it really doesn't matter alot.
Which trucks are the fastest? Also I just had a nice €80,000 repair bill because a car decided to overtake on a fucking bend. What a wanker.

I keep having assholes from the oncoming lane trying to pass someone and me having to slam on the brakes and still hitting them because they are just fucking sitting there. The AI is so bad in this game. They are smart enough to pass me without hitting someone in the oncoming lane, but not pass other AI without hitting ME. Also as an American driver, all of the damn yielding in this. Is it like that in real life? Since the trucks accelerate so slow, when I finally am able to go after having yielded for people, I get halfway through the intersection and another car decided they would go and I have to dodge them.

The Ai really needs a good polish up on this game, I just got 42% damage on my truck because another truck pulled out in front of me while I was doing 75 (MPH).
Depending on your level I suggest sticking with Renault. The first truck you can buy from them has the best Hp of any level 1 truck (380bhp i think). If your over level 9 the Renault magnum is great too it has 480bhp and it's only a little over 100k.

There's a lot of room for improvement in the AI, but you can't really complain that the AI is a poor judge of distance when you've modded out the 55mph speed restriction.

Good point. Is anyone else finding the F7 menu buggy as hell?, I can never seem to press it more than once each trip.
one ai car just fucking stopped on the center line in a tight bend (fuck you switzerland), when I saw him it was too late..
wtf AI
I've never seen anything like that but they're always stopping in the middle of intersections, off- and on-ramps, etc. They said AI will be improved in the coming patch.

Honestly... I don't think I've ever pressed it more than once in a trip.
The only bugs I've really seen is that my game becomes completely unstable when the internet radio feature is on.

Me and a Friend on Teamspeak were playing, listening to the same station, and both our games locked up for about 10 seconds at the same time, as the game tried to re-establish the stream

You don't yield in America? :v:
So.....How do I turn off the limiter?
I don't think the top speed of my Scania r is 90 km/h
You download a mod.
What steering wheel do you guys suggest for playing a game like this and racing games.
Got like a £20 budget
In that case, get whatever wheel want..it won't make a difference. Anything you can buy for GPB 20 is going to be shit.
On a more serious note:
I'd look for a used Thrustmaster. Doesn't matter which one, Thrustmaster is one of the best brands imho.
What steering wheel do you guys suggest for playing a game like this and racing games.

If you can increase your budget a little bit you could get this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaster-Universal-Challenge-Racing-GameCube/dp/B000RJW1Y2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1352136342&sr=8-2 only £30 and change, and it has plenty of easily accesible buttons (which you want), although the pedals have no third one (for braking or clutch or whatever) but you could easily assign the brakes to one of the buttons.
Personally, for racing games I tend to use a 360 controller, it works well for this game too as while you can't bind every single key to a button, you have enough 15 buttons in total, which is enough for the more vital stuff (including the dpad) and the second joystick comes in handing for using it to look around.
A wheel could be more immersive, but unless you have a shit load of buttons you're going to be regularly reaching for your keyboard. Plus they're £20 for a wired one on amazon.
You don't yield in America? :v:
Not at every single intersection. Also the ramps for getting on the highway in this, you gotta stop because the lane ends almost immediately. You somehow have to get from 0 to 90 after having pulled into the next lane before the person that was already on the highway gets to you so they don't have to slow down. Pretty unsafe imo. In the US at least the lane keeps going so you can actually get up to speed before merging with traffic when it is safe to do so.

You only stop if there is traffic coming that you'd crash into, otherwise, you use the road and get up to speed as much as you can before merging

I always gamble on motorways on this game.

The junctions aren't accurate in this game, at least the UK ones aren't. The majority of UK ones look like this:

Where the motorway stays as 3 lanes (rather than cutting down to 2 like in the game) and you go up to an overhead roundabout, the entry ramps are also a lot longer and people already on the motorway would pull into the middle lane to let you enter, but the AI doesn't do that in the game.

I don't think they are accurate in any county to be honest, You can tell that the same motorway template has been used everywhere. Just check google maps, Every motorway I've checked is similar to the UK system.
That type is just another variation, it isn't used everywhere... Likely because of the costs of building two bridges. Quite often from what I've seen there's a single bridge with a roundabout at each end which the on/offramps connect to.
This is the sort used ingame most often:
[img]http://www.cbrd.co.uk/interchanges/img/diamond.gif[/img]
Definitely the cheapest design and doubtless the most common, especially when it's a minor interchange.
Looking at a whole ton of interchange types, they have quite a lot covered really. I don't have problems with them really ever.
The only time I've had traffic trouble was on some junction between two dual carriageways between Hull and Grimsby where the road goes under a bridge. It was a T-junction with no lights and heavy traffic on both roads, and the joining road's AI could never join the flow of the crossing road. Ever. They waited for a gap in traffic for all eternity and I ended up having to go off-road to get the hell on with it.
If you're using the speed limit remover the AI probably can't cope.

Maybe the type used ingame is fairly common in Germany where the biggest market for these games is so they used that primarily and couldn't be bothered coding the AI to be able to handle even more complex systems.
This is the sort used ingame almost exclusively:

yeah, a lot of them in ohio are like this but it obviously really depends since that's more for freeways and not highways. i would think it'd be less common in especially the UK solely because of the higher density of people living there leading to a larger influx of traffic
