My problem with all of this tracking software (and one which is visible in that video where you can actually see the guy) is that your monitor simply doesn't move with you. You turn your head to shift the view but you have to constantly keep your eyes focused on the center point of the screen anyway... If you know what I mean? Ideally, you need to bolt the monitor to your head with some kind of frame so that when you turn your head, not only does the view on-screen move but the monitor moves with you. Would be awesome if screens weighed only a few grams.
Isn't that how Oculus Rift functions? It has some accelerometer/gyrometer situation with the screen built into it that when you turn allows you see in the direction you turned?

I don't ever really find myself staring at a monitor bezel nor having to keep my eyes locked in at the center of my monitor. I've been using TIR for over 10 years, and won't sim without it.
damn, apparently my phone isn't compatible with that headtrack app... god damnit.

Quick smoke and piss break before heading to dresden!
Funny, I jsut tried this out yesterday. Couldn't get it to work with ETS tho, but it was pretty wonky in A10 and ARMA.
Yeah, it lags like shit on ARMA. But I figured it's good enough for ETS. Did you set it to use "Fake TrackIR"? Also, you might need to copy that .dll from version 1.3 into your program dir if you're using 1.6. [editline]31st January 2013[/editline]
I've been trying to get this to work and it doesn't pick up my webcam, I've gave it admin privileges and it says my webcam but it doesn't track me or display the webcam at all?
Shame... it does seem not to be compatible with all webcams. Can't really help you there. You did press the "start" button in the "tracker source" frame in the middle, right?
if it has a gyroscope it *should* work
it does have a gyroscope I believe, but I think my version of android is just too old, I get some parsing error when I try to install it directly from the APK too. i have the x10i, pretty old by now. might try some rooting later on when I can be bothered. [editline]31st January 2013[/editline] o, it actually doesnt, oh well, such is life for poor people I guess ;_;
We are happy to announce that we are working on the first official add-on for Euro Truck Simulator 2. This map expansion is centering on Eastern Europe with special focus on Poland, so we took the opportunity of a press-day taking place at our Polish publishing partner CDP to let the word know about it yesterday. ... Final note: This map add-on/DLC will not be free (we are pondering ~EUR 10 price point), but it's an optional expansion. The rest of the story
YES! YES! YES! Well, it's got a price, but it's all right I guess
Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck GDAŃSK! I live there. I MUST see how it's gonna be like!
$14 seems a little steep for some more map, but maybe on sale I'd buy it.
YES! YES! YES! Well, it's got a price, but it's all right I guess
Just a bit to add:
Throughout the year 2013, we are going to keep improving the core game with free updates for everybody with fixes and many improvements, including for example all new trucks models, or new AI code. So while the 1.3.x patch is very near, stay tuned for further patches coming down the road. And some surprises on top of it all ;-).
this might be the first time a simulator can manage to surprise me
this might be the first time a simulator can manage to surprise me
They said a while a go they were going to try to add a primitve multiplayer if the budget and time allowed it.
which would be basically everybody just crashing into each other and not getting anything done
which would be basically everybody just crashing into each other and not getting anything done
Of course. That's all me and my friends ended up doing in Forza 2. I'm sure it won't be any different here.
YES! New Official trucks and maps!
Holy shit, Budapest! [editline]1st February 2013[/editline] Having said that, I was kinda hoping for DLC they give us somewhere challenging to drive, not just new highways.
Holy shit, Budapest! [editline]1st February 2013[/editline] Having said that, I was kinda hoping for DLC they give us somewhere challenging to drive, not just new highways.
Like desert type roads and massive cliffsides?
Like desert type roads and massive cliffsides?
Ice would be really fun, though they have a snow mod already. I wish they'd do a bit of like Scania Truck Driving does, those scenarios are pretty cool. They could just add some to ETS2.
They should add that deathroad from bolivia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yungas_Road
They should add that deathroad from bolivia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yungas_Road
How would that fit within the confines of Europe?
It wouldn't have to if it just needed to be a challenging drive. Could be a quick job with a huge reward or something.
Yeah, like ice, and/or steep winding roads around cliffs, etc. Surely Norway has shit like that? Or somewhere in the Pyrenees or Italian Alps? And yeah, you could also have "missions" or quick jobs with special circumstances.
Does anyone know why the game is so scaled down?
Does anyone know why the game is so scaled down?
picture this you're driving from brno to glasgow do you really want to actually drive for 20 hours?
Its what I expect from a Simulator.
Its what I expect from a Simulator.
It uses a timescale that isn't equivalent to the real world, it's like speeding it up.
I think it's not bad as it is now. 40 minutes (give or take) to drive from London to Hannover in Germany. I think that's pretty good. The long distance hauls make the game seem a LOT bigger.
Its what I expect from a Simulator.
The game size would probably be 10x larger if anything. They explain it here: http://blog.scssoft.com/2012/04/map-is-never-big-enough.html
