It's more fun than any truck simulator ought to be, and rightly so - it's a very well made truck simulator. I logged 7 hours within a day of buying it. Still want to play more, but trying to hold off until my wheel arrives.
It is that. Simulators are almost universally terrible*; I think I bought this one out of pure surprise that it wasn't shit.
* [sp]fuck off and die, Ship Simulator Extreme[/sp]

Hex is playing Euro Truck Simulator, I'm guessing that they are reviewing the game in the next episode of Good Game (Australian Video game review show for y'all internationals)
I love the hat
i dont understand the appeal of this game, please don't take this as hate, i just dont understand why people would want to drive trucks in a game from point A to point B
Could somebody please explain to me why people like this is a game, or why people enjoy it? I'm genuinely curious
To me, it's ridiculously relaxing. I've never felt so zen other than when I'm playing this game. It's almost therapeutic.

I've always liked big vehicles, unfortunately my eye sight prevents me from ever getting behind the wheel of a real truck. I already have a decent wheel, pedals and shifter and enjoyed Scania Driving Sim and Trucks & Trailers (Lots of fun little challenges like maneuvering a 40ft oversize around silly S bends) - At this point I could probably drive a real one without too much issue.
Some people like flight sims, I like any sort of driving sim. Especially when it's a big vehicle, rigs of rods has soaked far too much of my time :v:.
How the hell do I turn on mouse look when using keyboard steering? I've looked everywhere on how to turn it on but there's nothing anywhere.

I never turned anything on. One day I just bumped my mouse and then whoa, my head moved!

I do love the "turn and look out the window" thing. Helps when parking.

I move my mouse as much as possible but the view just stays completely still. I can rotate the exterior camera around just fine, but the interior one just refuses to move at all.
Does anyone know how to get force feedback working with MotionInJoy.
Anyone know any good sites that have the latest mods and aren't all clusterfucked together. All the ones I find are a complete and utter and mess and provide absolutely no detail to any of the mods at all...

Not long got the game and found the same. The official forums seem to be much more informative. http://forum.scssoft.com/viewforum.php?f=24
Hey I wanted to get back into this game and don't know what mods to install. I had some mod pack before where it introduced real world names for the vehicles and stuff but I can't find it. Also can anyone recommend some necessary mods to use?

You know. Somehow the idea of looking at the SCS forum completely slipped my mind... What a numbskull I am.

I'd imagine all the mods that make names real like company names and such are good. Along with the no speed limiter. I Found the physics mods to be very...well not very good.
Good news everyone that uses linux. Public beta of the linux ETS2
To test the Linux version of ETS2 you need to do following:
1) Install the game from Steam client. This will install the non-beta version which does not have Linux executables.
2) In the Steam client open the ETS2 properties screen and navigate to the "Betas" tab.
3) Select the linux_testing beta.
4) This will install the Linux binaries.
To provide feedback, please go to http://forum.scssoft.com and participate in the Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Linux Beta Testing discussion group.
Where did all the love for ETS2 go?
So apparently they're experimenting with Oculus Rift.

This excites me...
What's wrong with my life?
Ohh, would you look at that? DLC!

Awesome, buying now.
Picked this up in the humble sale. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I know you can never have enough air horns.

If they made a Scandinavian DLC, i'd buy it in a heartbeat
It sounds sorta stupid but I wish there were a lot more car mods for this game. The driving in ETS2 is amazingly "fun" but still relaxing, there's no car equivalent that matches that. It'd be amazing to just cruise around in a nice sedan in the rain while all of your workers are hauling goods for your company.
Why are my shitter employees making like 1/10th of what I do?

Some fancy shots when I was driving in bongland
While they'll never make the kind of money that you make, I've been told they get better. I wouldn't know. I keep having to start over because of mods.
Is anyone else using the Trucksim map?
It's awesome. Also comes with a mod, called the "Just Play Mod" or JPM, which adds new loads and renames all the companies to real ones with the corresponding logos.
I haven't found any English sites that offer or even discuss it, which is a shame. It adds loads of new locations. You can go all the way to Spain, also Greece, Croatia, and even a stretch of northern Africa.

Also, it's a damn shame that virtually all of the American style truck mods are either for older versions of ETS2 and thus incompatible, or they replace ALL trucks of one brand, or they change the camera for ALL trucks of one brand, or they're just plain crappy unfinished work by some Russian dude.

Also, if you drive a Scania, fucking get this mod:
http://ets2mods.org/2013/10/scania-v8-sound-v2-by-kriechbaum/
There's also a v3, but I like v2 better. It really, truly sounds almost like the real thing.

Didn't go as well as i hoped it would.

What do you have your drivers trained as? If you want them to pull some serious dough, train them as 'long distance' first.
