My friend gifted this to me last night and I played it for almost 3 hours straight. The game is relaxing and fun. Are there any mods I should look out for that are needed for the game?
Is there any way to change the display of your speed from mph to kmph? It'd really help me cut down on my speeding tickets while on the mainland.
"use miles" checkbox in gameplay settings
Wanted to get back into this game, what are the must have mods?
Uh-oooh!
Get ready for the raceeey!

It's live: http://alpha.ets2mp.com/
Tried it and it can't find the game executable, no matter how I install/run it. Guess I'm waiting for the support forum/a newer version.
So an update on that issue now that the mod has a support forum:
If you're getting the "Cannot find game executable!" #001 message, try moving your ETS2 game to whichever drive your OS is on.

Multiplayer is exactly as much of a clusterfuck as I expected. And it's awesome.
How does it work? One big server? Are there collisions? I'm really curious.
Right now it's one big server, there generally seems to be around 2000 people online most of the time. Collision is disabled inside cities, as there's generally 5-7 people all trying to park a trailer into the same spot at the same time to complete their deliveries, though some depots are outside of the nocollide zone.
All the highways and whatnot seem to have collision enabled, so you'll have to actually pay attention, though most of the time there's always someone driving the wrong way or entirely failing to make the turn for their exit and rolling their truck, so you might have to wait a few minutes for them to sort themselves out like in the screenshot above, or at least wait until they get themselves towed away.
Every now and then, something will bug out, or someone will lag into your truck and send you flying off into space, or into the ground with an instant 100% damage, but it seems pretty stable overall.
There aren't any AI cars or anything, so sometimes you'll be driving around and not see anyone, and other times you'll get caught up in a convoy of 15 brazilians all going to the same place you are [All with exactly the same cargo too, it was weird]. Most encounters with other players are either a friendly honk at the trucks heading the other way, or people around you not knowing how to drive a truck in the slightest, with predictably funny results.
Expect a shitload of trucks all honking at each other, the endless drone of engines and backup alarms, trucks absolutely covered in strobe lights having a disco at every pickup and dropoff, and a whole lot of chat spam in random languages. It's almost everything I ever wanted from a multiplayer trucking game.
How often do fuckwagons just go around ramming everyone they see?
Seems like their only mirror is down.

Not often. Truck damage is a bitch and admins kick rammers when they can.
Are they planning to add AI?
Are they planning to add AI?
Can't remember where (I think it was an admin doing Q&A ingame) but they've said they have no plans on it. I don't blame them either, a small devteam working for free, and the fact that it's a side thing for the game and not built in, it's probably hard to do. The only open world games I've seen with synced AI are P2P ones like GTA and Saints Row, and even they have issues.
I just played it just now, it was interesting.
100% of my other player interaction was driving past people driving the other way beeping our horns and blinking out lights at one another.
With car AI I'd play this over singleplayer.
Yeah the only thing I miss is the lacking cars.
If they made player trucks not collide with one another, with AI traffic (That you could collide with, obviously) It would be perfect

the moment i went past another truck and we honked each other, or joined a convoy as we crossed england.
i was grinning like an idiot the entire ride.

So with the internet radio in Eurotruck 2, you can get a lot of this going

Is the mp server up or it was a one time test?
I'm pretty sure it's going to stay up until they're done testing and ready for release.
I noticed that after trying the MP, all of teh job offers's expiration date have been set to 500+ hours.
So how is it in MP. Will I be constantly harassed or is it not as bad as some forum posts make it out to be?

I'm okay with this

depends what time of day you play but generally it's nowhere near as bad as it's made out to be
the vast majority of players follow the rules
during the busy periods admins are on to deal with the worst troublemakers
if someone ever does wreck your shit you can just load an autosave which the game is making every 10 minutes and undo it just like that

the best way to stop is to use all 3 brakes
If they add mountains to Denmark, i'll walk in front of a train
