Holy shit there's an emergency brake?
spacebar
B is a Motorbrake and Spacebar is Handbrake/Parking brake.
I'm saving up to buy my first truck. I don't want a flat roof, it has to have a digital speedometer and it needs to be in red. I also want an engine so big it'll make you shit yourself when I rev the thing up.
I got a loan and bought the Renault Magnum Premium or something, it's a piece of shit to be honest, takes forever to gain speed. I'd recommend waiting until you can get something better than the starting trucks.
Probably going to save 200,000 before I even look around too hard. I just have no idea which one is the one with the digital speedometer. Or which ones, rather.

The digital speedometers don't seem to work. But it's on the satnav screen anyway. Have a look at the base model Volvo. It has something ridiculous like 600hp.
The digital speedometers are the only things that work for me. The analog ones always say I'm going 98~ MPH when in reality I'm going 55 because that's what my Satnav and Cruise Control tell me. The digital speedometers reflect my speed accurately and are easier to read than the Satnav speed. It may have something to do with the MPH conversion since I don't think the game changes the analog speedometers to MPH when you enable the MPH-option. I really need to find a mod to disengage that dumb 55MPH limit all trucks have.

Here are two links for the mod: http://adf.ly/E0roi - with speed limiter http://adf.ly/E0r6s without speed limiter edit: don't ask me what to do with the files, I haven't tried it yet.
I use that works just fine.
I'm not super crazy about the physics simulation though. I just want the speed-limiter off without the jigglebone truck cab.
Alright, Here ya go!

[editline]27th October 2012[/editline] Is there any way to change the FOV? I'm using a gamepad and turning the view to check intersections etc is really slow and hard to look around while driving.
where do we put the scs files? documents...
So, is the distances in this realistic? Like are the roads real life length?
I'm not super crazy about the physics simulation though. I just want the speed-limiter off without the jigglebone truck cab.
All it really does is make the cab suspension a little softer so that it moves more like the real thing on acceleration and braking. [editline]27th October 2012[/editline]
So, is the distances in this realistic? Like are the roads real life length?
Shit no, that would be unbelievable huge. And boring to - you'd have to play about 16 hours for a drive from one end of the map to the other (about 1200km by my guess). I'd say it's about 1/10th scale, maybe 1/8th.
So, is the distances in this realistic? Like are the roads real life length?
Yes, but a mile is more like 1/4 of a mile or half of a mile. You really think that they would have mapped every single individual road in Europe to scale? :v:
Yes, but a mile is more like 1/4 of a mile or half of a mile. You really think that they would have mapped every single individual road in Europe to scale? :v:
That would be so awesome. I've been meaning to ask this question around racing sim forums: Has anybody got an idea how close we are technology-wise to just taking a satellite map and getting tracks for pc games out of it, maybe even Google Earth? I don't think the height maps in Google are anywhere near accurate enough, but what about actual satellite maps? And maybe a smoothing algorithm? Of course there would be no way to discern the scenery from a satellite image, but for the roads it should be possible, don't you think? The thing is, the place where I live has quite a few Rallyes happening every year, and I'd love to race over the roads that I drive every day. Like this one for example:
What is the speed limit on highways? I installed the 120km/h limit mod and just got a speeding ticket when I went as fast as the other cars.
What is the speed limit on highways? I installed the 120km/h limit mod and just got a speeding ticket when I went as fast as the other cars.
Presume it's 110kmh in mainland Europe and 70mph in the UK
I like to listen to Jerry Reed while I'm truckin'
Is it just me or does everybody speed in this game? I was going 25 over the speed limit and cars were flying past me left and right.
Something tells me you were driving 80km/h in a 55mile/h zone :D That's what happens when you set game settings to metric and go to England.
What is the speed limit on highways? I installed the 120km/h limit mod and just got a speeding ticket when I went as fast as the other cars.
Depends on the country. In most places it's 120 km/h, but in Germany for example, there's no speed limit.
Presume it's 110kmh in mainland Europe and 70mph in the UK
Well, in the real world it's 50mph for trucks in Germany..
Depends on the country. In most places it's 120 km/h, but in Germany for example, there's no speed limit.
Trucks are universally limited to 90 km/h on every highway, 80/100 on a few very select ones. Highways vary from 120-130 km/h.
Well, in the real world it's 50mph for trucks in Germany..
Not on Autobahn. That shit is hectic.
Is there any definitive "best" truck?
oh fuck.. I didn't even know this could happen but my truck doesn't have enough balls to get up an on ramp, so now i'm stuck halfway up this thin as fuck guard railed up son of a bitch god damn
Well, in the real world it's 50mph for trucks in Germany..
Completely forgot this was a truck simulator for some reason, in that case it's 60mph in the UK and you aren't allowed in the third lane
