ITT: Real world truckers share their unique experience
Ugh, I have to be a trucker to know the highway speed limit?
Also, is there a working trainer for this game? I lost my save :(
ITT: People dont realize cars and trucks have different speed limits more like.
Ugh, I have to be a trucker to know the highway speed limit?
There are speed signs everywhere. Just remember in Europe the signs are in km/h and in UK the signs are in mph so you'll have to do some mental arithmetic if you're popping across the channel. A diagonal black bar is no limit.

Why are you telling me this? I'm very well aware.

So why are you complaining you don't know the speed limits?

I may have been mixing up posters and/or bad reading comprehension :tinfoil:

Not anymore, it means 60mph for lorries
This a fun game to play but I just got my First driver to help on Driving truck for me but I have him setup with a truck but how do I get him to start driving for me right now he is idle does he just pick up loads him self or do u tell him what to hual..?
thanks for any tips Since the Manal for the game is just crap....but the game is fun ...
Not on Autobahn. That shit is hectic.
Yes, on the Autobahn, too. They all do around 95 all the time, but the limit is 80 km/h for anything over 7.5 tonnes.
Also, while it's true that there's no general speed limit there, by now most stretches do have speed limits. I should know, I was born there and used to have a moderately fast car.
Also also, "Ausfahrt" means "Exit".
Also also also, I'm not a trucker. Well...I used to be one if you want to count those puny 7.5t lorries.

He starts working by himself, just gotta wait a bit.
Man, if I could make $154,800 a week I'd totally be a truck driver.

We are happy to confirm that the next major update of Euro Truck Simulator 2 is going to come with officially licensed DAF Trucks branding for the XF tractor.
The upcoming extensive game update is going to bring quite a lot changes and improvements, lots of tweaks to the map, to AI, to physics, to lights, translations into new languages, and more. We are currently in beta testing of these changes, but it's a really big batch of code, art, and design touches, and may take some time to polish (perhaps up to two weeks) before we hope to be in shape to release it.

I wonder if we're gonna see the same level of DLC as Train Simulator if ETS gets on Steam.
Man, taking off the 55 speed limit was the worst idea ever.
Now all I do is fly down the highway at like 80MPH all the time.

Yea same, I just uninstalled it.

Managed to drive between 2 German cities going 160 km/h on highways.
Not that hard just have to look at the map a lot for sharp turns and be ready for them.
Hired a guy and with his first delivery he managed to go negative. He was the best one available as well with a rating of 2.5.
Seriously?

I had 2 guys and both of their daily profits were sub 400. I am disappointed with this performance.
Would be awesome if this had multiplayer and you could start a firm with friends :P
I'm keeping the no-limit mod. It helps when I need to pass people but I need to learn to stay at reasonable speeds.
I bought my first truck. Renault with a slanted roof. I painted it red.
the driver i hired is already making more than me per day
Excuse me but, in the nicest of ways:
Why would you play this?
That would be so awesome.
I've been meaning to ask this question around racing sim forums:
Has anybody got an idea how close we are technology-wise to just taking a satellite map and getting tracks for pc games out of it, maybe even Google Earth? I don't think the height maps in Google are anywhere near accurate enough, but what about actual satellite maps? And maybe a smoothing algorithm? Of course there would be no way to discern the scenery from a satellite image, but for the roads it should be possible, don't you think?
The thing is, the place where I live has quite a few Rallyes happening every year, and I'd love to race over the roads that I drive every day.
Like this one for example:

Already been done. Racing simulators like iRacing use laser scanning technology to replicate tracks 100% to every bump and length, just costs a bit hence why they charge monthly, then additionally for new tracks.

Come to think of it, I don't really know.
But I play it anyways, take that science!
EDIT: For those of you who use a Xbox controller or similar gamepad, what kind of set up would you recommend for driving manual? I have every single key and axis on the controller mapped to some function, but I still need to use the keyboard for a lot of stuff.

That's why I was talking about satellite images. Basically, the ability to create the bases for new tracks by just tracing the roads on a satellite map while the software will recognize the scale and the altitudes automatically.

No offense taken.
But it's a question that could be asked about almost anything. It's always a matter of perspective. There are more than enough people asking that very question about computer games in general.
But let me try to explain:
- a fascination with automotive technology
- I like being on the road, but I can't travel around for fun all the time. Got to work for my living.
- I could become a trucker, but I like seeing my girlfriend on a daily basis, also the pay is shit, the pressure is high, as is the risk. Not because of accidents, but because many hauls will require you to speed or exceed your allowed hours of service, and you're the one taking all the shit if you get caught. Also, it might get tedious after a few years. So I play this game.
- in a way, it's like any other business sim, or like many other computer games in general. You earn money to buy better stuff that helps you earn more money to get even better stuff. It's fun. To some people.
My company will only deliver to German territories and strictly refuses to even go near the borders of territories not conquered by the reich.

Even better while you're actually trying to drive it.
I've never had the chance to drive a truck without a trailer so I was going 74MPH regardless the road, weaving in and out of traffic, cutting people off and all kinds of Need For Speed Shit. It was pretty awesome but now I'm already back to the grind of 55MPH lorry driver.

I use the A and B buttons for gears (when I'm not using the H shifter, but more on that in a minute), Y is "Activate" and X is my map, left analogue for steering, right one for looking around. Bumpers are blinkers and shoulders are throttle/brake. D-Pad is lights, dispay modes and cruise control. Select is "Next Camera" (Not that I switch that often, just force of habit from other games) and Start is Pause.
When I can be arsed (surprisingly often in this game), the right analogue is my H-Shifter. I can give you some instructions on how to get it working, but it's a bit of a nuisance. It's pretty fun though, makes driving much more demanding.
