It's a Blizzard game, dude. You gotta get it through Battle.net

:wow:
That was intentional.
Hope y'all enjoy the game- my computer's GPU died last week and I won't be able to get a new one set up for a while.
Slap Mei and Bastion in the face for me.
Overwatch lore is kinda garboo, more so than other large character roster games.

It's a bit bland, but I like the style.
It's basically a typical action-oriented kids' cartoon universe with guns.
Terrible OC incoming.

pre-loading in the next hour and a half before it goes live is a bonus if that counts. If you're going to buy it just get it now, why not get the extra skin
To be honest, there's not much of a sense of morality within the game at all.
You just have a bunch of characters some of whom have varying degrees of dislike for each other, but none too much that they won't still work as a team, and whilst some of them seem more happy to be killing folks than others - they're all still killing folks and none of them seem to be particularly unhappy about it. For all intents and purposes the characters of Overwatch operate as mercenaries within the game.
Not that that can really be helped in a game like this.

I've heard this said about almost every competitive multiplayer game with multiple characters over the years, and honestly I don't get it
Because I've yet to see how lack of 'good' lore is even an issue for this sort of thing. Hell, TF2 did fine for years before valve actually gave it a plot, most MoBAs have token at best justifications and then proceed just fine with only that, and it's not like that story is even incorporated into gameplay aside from maps and maybe minor cosmetic character interactions

With how basic it is now, they can only go up.

You clearly never played Legacy of the Void.
Blizzard can always find a way to lower the bar.

Valve injected TF2 with fucking tons of personality though. Lots of voice lines for every character under every situation and the Meet The series helped made the cast more vibrant in a game where you didn't need to know anything about who and why. Valve is doing the same thing with Dota, except through the event comics they make every so often. They place creating a personality for characters over an overarching story. The same thing is true about voice lines in Dota as well. The writing isn't near-generic garbage for them either, which is why the Overwatch animated shorts are just so bland most of the time. They look good, they have great art and animation direction, but without fail the writing is about as flat as the paper it was written on.
her character was all over in that comic. Apparently she's TOTALLY willing to kill security if it's necessary to her sneaking around, but at the same time is compassionate enough to only knock people out otherwise, but her employer is just like "fuck subtlety" and firebombs the competition's building right before they'd be competing for a contract, along with the surrounding densely populated destitute suburbs and that child with a perfect face or whatever. She swears justice will be done to right the evils but doesn't the ingame dialogue with her imply she still works for dickbag inc?
That last page of the comic was really fucking annoying
Her boss basically goes "That went well for us!" after firebombing the poor and when she questions him on it he pretty much goes "Well sometimes if you want progress you just gotta murder a bunch of people" and she still believes they actually want to make the world a better place.

I think the reason people care more about Overwatch's lore is that you can see that there is an attempt, but the end result is just mediocre.
Once you try and do something people will consider it's potential and, in the case of Overwatch, be disappointed that you've failed to fulfil it.
Just got home from the launch celebration in Berlin. Was fun but I thought there would be more to it. But we got free cups so I'm not complaining. :v:
Also got the collector's edition which I'm pretty happy with.
Bastion is pretty much the MG42 class from Day of Defeat GoldSrc, yet no one complained about that class.
Every time I try to go and read things involving overwatch, it's a big anti-bastion shit show. Whereas whenever I played with my team, we'd run into a deployed bastion, then whoever was Hanzo/Widow/Pharah/76 would just wall peek kill him.
yeah thats exactly what I saw Bastion as when I started playing him, took me back to camping the little windows in dod_Avalanche.

There's some sort of brainwashing going on with India in this universe, so she doesn't really believe them but kinda sorta does. It's weird. Thankfully we have the plot of Jet Set Radio going on so that should be solved eventually.
Floodgates open in 1 hour.

Meanwhile my box copy arrives tomorrow at earliest.
Man, I hate midnight releases, and there is no other kind in europe :(
turns out the world is getting one more hero than expected today

anyone got an overwatch bingo of some sort? definitely expecting some launch server problems for one
What is her flaw?
She's a super cold robo bitch who hates robots despite basically being one. She also seems super snobby based on character interactions in game.
